Chapter 485: Slowbro and Shellder

"If Shellder is detached from it, will its rank decrease?", asked Axel cause he must know about it.

"Hahaha, the answer is no. Ranking up from pseudo-king rank to king rank is a very hard process. Slowbro had been a king-rank Pokemon for quite some time now and it had already accumulated that king-rank energy. So, it would not revert back to pseudo-king rank Pokemon but it might be one of the weakest king-rank Pokemon in your team.", replied Oak.

The first problem was solved. Now the second problem might be difficult to solve.

Since it had to be detached and only the same Shellder could be used, how was he going to convince this Shellder to remain with them for 3-4 months? He didn't believe that it would remain with them.

Axel asked this question to Oak.

"Axel, you are thinking it all wrong. Shellder is not a prisoner here. It has been attached to Slowbro with choice. It could detach itself any time it wants. As Slowpoke gets power from Shellder, Shellder also gets something from Slowpoke and that is life.

You see, Slowpoke species live vastly longer than Shellder. So, when a Shellder attaches itself to Slowpoke, its life also increases and remains equal to that Slowpoke that it attaches. The juices Shellder gets after biting Slowpoke is also very addictive and it has some effect on its hormones too which make it want to attach itself to Slowpoke.

I am not afraid that it will run away. I am afraid that it would not detach itself. So, don't worry about this issue."

As Axel thought of what Oak said, he came to a realization that he was stupid. The explanation was so simple. So, how was he going to take that Shellder out of its body? That was a big question now.

"Thanks, Oak. Have you been able to research about the other thing?", asked Axel with anticipation.

"I cannot say for sure on this one but I can say that it would be very risky.", said Oak.

Axel had also come up with an interesting idea about Slowpoke species. Shellder was a Pokemon that could still evolve. It would evolve to Cloyster after using a water stone. The idea was to not attach Slowpoke with a Shellder but to evolve Shellder to Cloyster and attach Slowpoke with a Cloyster.

Axel believed that if he was able to do this to Slowpoke then it would be very powerful. However, he didn't know if it was possible.

"Whether Cloyster could attach on Slowpoke? It is possible. Cloyster is the evolved form it does have a similar constitution to Shellder. Now, whether you can do it or not? There are 2 problems with it.

First is the compatibility. Even though Cloyster is the evolved form of Shellder, the poison that it excretes after its evolution is slightly different from Shellder. The poison is also more potent than before. The difference is not so huge that Slowpoke may not be able to take it but it is still different and more potent.

So, whether your Slowpoke could handle it or not is up to it. I believe that Slowbro must have some sort of poison immunity before it wants to attach a Cloyster. Mark my words, it should not be a full poison immunity, otherwise, the effect of poison would not enhance Slowpoke but it should be a very mild poison immunity that would negate the small changes in the poison properties.

The second would be the difference in ranks between Cloyster and Slowbro. Shellder is now a common rank Pokemon and after it evolves, it would be an uncommon rank Pokemon. You must remember that this is the infusion of 2 Pokemons and since Slowbro is vastly stronger than Shellder now, it is taking the charge.

It must also be remembered that a Cloyster should not be stronger than Slowbro, otherwise, it would take over Slowbro's mind and body. Now, since it would be an uncommon rank and Slowbro is still king rank, you might be thinking that there would be no problem but you would be wrong to assume it."

"What do you mean? The difference in their ranks is very huge. Is this not enough?"

"I have done my research but you also know that I could not test it. The numbers tell me that Slowbro's rank and powers would just be enough to handle Cloyster but the numbers are in the borderline. There might be 2-3% chance that Cloyster might harm Slowbro. When it reverts back to Slowpoke, it would be very weak too. So, are you ready to take the risk?", asked Oak.

"No, absolutely not. Isn't there any solution for it?"

"There is. After it reverts back to Slowpoke, rank it up to tier 2 king-rank Pokemon. Then there would be no problem. If it ranks up to tier 2 king rank, it can comfortably handle Cloyster up to rare rank. But that would take a lot of time as Slowpoke would be very weak after Shellder detaches itself from it.", said Oak.

"I will think about it. Thanks for the help Oak."

"You don't need to thank me. I am also learning a lot from your stupid ideas. Ok, gotta go right now.", said Oak and hung up the phone.

Axel told all the things that he discussed with Oak to Slowbro. Slowbro said that Shellder was ready to detach itself voluntarily, so there would be no problem there. So, the problem of detaching was not there. However, how would he be able to rank Slowbro to tier 2 king-rank Pokemon in 3-4 months? That would be very hard to do.

As of right now, if Axel and Slowbro gave their all, there was a chance that Slowbro would rank up to tier 2 king-rank Pokemon but when it reverts back to Slowpoke, it would be very difficult to do so.

Axel didn't take any pressure from it. He was now very near to Cherrygrove city and he first wanted to reach there. After he reached there, he would start the detachment process.

"Ahh, finally!!!", shouted Axel as he stretched his body. It had been a long time since Axel spent that much time in the wild forest. It took a week to reach Cherrygrove City. Bagon was now ready to train itself as it had been a week.

Axel was excited to train Bagon. But first, he needed to find a hotel and book a room. He had decided to stay here for 2-3 days. His Pokemon also needed some rest and they were training continuously for a week. The new Pokemons had leveled up their moves by a lot. Their stats had also dramatically increased. All of these were due to Axel's talent, 'Elemental overgrowth'.

Axel knew that he didn't need so much time for his Pokemons to reach the elemental rank.

After booking the hotel room, Axel went to bed and slept for some hours.

When he woke up, it was already late afternoon. He had decided to detach Shellder from Slowbro today. He then went to the Pokemon Center and called out a nurse to assist him in the process.

The nurse was confused about the request. Why would a trainer want to detach a Shellder? That would make the Pokemon even weaker. However, since the Pokemon and the trainer had agreed to do it, she could not argue with them. So, she went with the flow.

Slowbro, Axel, and the nurse were now in the training ground of the Pokemon Center.

"Slowbro, it's now time to do it. You will feel pain after it detaches itself but it will go away after some time. So, prepare yourself.", said Axel.

"SLOOOWBROO", it said with enthusiasm.

"Shellder, now detach yourself from Slowbro."

Shellder opened its mouth. It had not done so for such a long time. It opened its mouth and its teeth which were embedded inside Slowbro's tail, started to come out.

A gush of blood came out of Slowbro's tail. It roared painfully but Shellder had finally detached itself from Slowbro.

"Charles, now do it.!!", shouted Axel.

Charizard came out and its claws were not extended with fire impeded on it. It slashed the tail of Slowbro and the portion of the tail which was bitten by Shellder was sliced off.

The glow came again and surrounded Slowbro. The process didn't take much time as it reverted back to Slowpoke.

"Nurse, do the treatment now. It is losing a of blood.", said Axel.

The nurse hurriedly applied some sort of anesthesia to decrease the pain of Slowbro and then started to cure the wound.

Oak had told him to slice the poison part of the tail to Axel. Its tail would automatically grow in the future, so there was no problem with it. If the poisoned tail remained, it might cause some harm to Slowpoke and Axel didn't want that.

Slowbro had reverted back to Slowpoke.

Ding!

All of its stats have been changed. Its move's level had not changed but the power of the moves would be lesser than before.

All of its stats have reverted to F rank and its health have decreased from 8k to 7k. That was the only change that Axel could see in the system but he knew that its move power had also decreased.

Axel was then surprised by another notification.

The changes would start to occur now. Since the host had caught it when it was a king-rank Pokemon and it was 50 years old, the system took some time to make changes in its stats and move levels.

Since the host had not trained it actively from its baby stage like Light, the effect of increase would only be 50%.

The changes would still take some time and it would take 2 weeks for the changes to be completed.

Axel had not forgotten about this. When he finally caught Alakazam inside the Pokeball, its power rapidly increased due to Axel's talent 'Overgrowth' which would massively reward the Pokemon based on their hard work.

He thought that the same thing would happen to Slowbro too but the system said that it would take some time and now the time had come. It would still take a couple of weeks to see the full effect, but it was beginning now.

He didn't know how much stats and move level would increase but it would be substantial as Slowpoke had been on this world for 50 years. Even though the effect would be only 50%, it would still be huge.

After Slowpoke was properly cared for, the nurse gave it a sleeping pill to sleep.

"Your Slowpoke is alright now. You can take it home after it wakes up.", said the nurse. The nurse was still confused as to why Axel did it. But she decided not to ask it to Axel.

She already knew that Axel was a powerful trainer as Slowpoke was a king-rank Pokemon. She was intimidated by Axel.

Axel was now just sipping a cup of coffee in a new restaurant that he had discovered. The coffee here was well made and Axel was enjoying it.

Shellder was with Slowpoke right now. It looked like they were very good friends. Currently, Axel was thinking about the evolution of Shellder. Shellder needed a waterstone to evolve. That was when he heard a voice from his back.

"Hey, you must be Axel right?"
