Chapter 254
“Fine, do what you want. I am going to bed,” she said before covering herself with a quilt and closing her eyes.
She could hear sounds in the room for a very long time and she honestly thought that he was going to leave. But as she became drowsy and about to sleep she felt a dip in the bed like some weight had been put on it. Despite this, she didn’t move. She pretended as if she had really fallen asleep.
A second later she felt a cool breeze from the quilt being lifted and a warm body shuffling closer to her.
A warm hand slipped in between her arm and her waist pulling her into an embrace. He didn’t know why she was adamant about this but he trusted her. Worse case scenario... he would abandon his post and flee with his family if it comes to it.
“I trust you... and I love you,” he whispered but Lin Ruoxi was honestly starting to feel a bit guilty. She was doing all of this for her son but she suddenly felt like she was disregarding his feelings.

Meanwhile, Yi Chen was just standing there like a statue staring at Zi Han like he had received enlightenment and didn’t know how to react.
His entire body broke into goosebumps and it felt like all the blood in his body was rushing to his head. Several times he opened his mouth but he just didn’t know what to say.
.....
He just watched on as his siblings stole the show clamoring over Zi Han like he wasn’t even there. He suddenly felt like he was fighting for attention.
Is this how it felt when couples get kids? He really was having a hard time sharing Zi Han with other people even though those other people were his siblings. He was so used to being in their two person world and now that the number had increased he was feeling a little shaken.
When Zi Xingxi saw this from the high platform she couldn’t help but approach him. “Feeling left out aren’t you?” she asked her expression malicious like the wicked stepmother from snow white. Well, in this case, it would be the wicked mother in law.
Yi Chen didn’t respond. He just kept watching his lover happily interacting with his siblings as they showed off what they brought.
Zi Xingxi let out a throaty chuckle before offering, “Do you want a drink? I am sure he will remember you exist in a couple of hours.”
Yi Chen couldn’t refuse that. He followed Zi Xingxi to the bridge without much thought.
Zi Xingxi poured out two shots of whatever strong liquor she had on the rocks and handed him one of the two glasses.
She sat down her gaze transfixed on the starry sky her thoughts unknown. As she raised her glass to her lips Yi Chen’s voice rang out in the silent atmosphere.
“What will happen when prime minister Ikeda regains consciousness?” he said with worry in his tone.
Zi Xingxi’s hand paused for a moment with the rim of the glass on her lips. With a slight quirk at the corner of her mouth, she continued taking a sip before swirling the glass in her hand.
“He won’t say shit... I am more than certain of it,” she said and Yi Chen’s expression turned inquisitive.
What did she mean by that? Why wouldn’t the prime minister want to name Zi Han and arrest him immediately? This could also serve as an execuse to take down the Bloodgarde and get what he wants.
Yi Chen took a sip and his expression immediately contorted as he asked, “And why is that? Why wouldn’t he say something?”
Zi Xingxi laughed a little while staring at the crystal glass as she slowly turned it. “Oh, there is more beneath the surface than you could ever imagine... Ikeda Yu was always interested... no, obsessed with his royal highness. When I say obsessed I mean the ‘I want to be with you’ type of obsessed. When he refused things didn’t go so well between them.”
“That is to say shit went south and because Ikeda Yu couldn’t get with the program my husband broke off the friendship. He was so into the prince that he is willing to find a substitute and the most perfect substitute is Han Han so... he won’t say anything.”
“If anything you should be worried that he is going to pursue Zi Han and trust me he is the type that wouldn’t accept the answer ‘no’.”
Yi Chen’s heart sank hearing this. Sure he knew Zi Han wouldn’t be interested in such a person and now that he had accepted to be his boyfriend he would be fully committed to the very end but he couldn’t help but feel very unsettled by this.
Zi Xingxi continued saying, “You weren’t my first choice for my son but he likes you a lot so I can only swallow all my complaints and step aside. If you as much as hurt him or if he ever sheds a tear because of you I will make your entire family pay. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
Yi Chen who was still trying to digest the mind blowing news about the prime minister being interested in his boyfriend was suddenly jolted back to reality when she said that.
He raised his head and looked at her before speaking from the heart. “I love him and I would never do anything to hurt him. Like I said before I will protect him with my life so you can be reassured,” he said and Zi Xingxi believed him. In fact, she was more worried that in this relationship her son would be more of a heartbreaker than Yi Chen.
Yi Chen was so deep in his feelings yet her son on the other hand was dodging the question. She just hoped they had a better ending than she and her husband did.
