Chapter 131
But, other than those duties, these old men’s main job was to record the activity regarding White Army. They had their own records about the previous masters, even from the first master, and their own special traits. They even had noted down the rules set by the first master and the prophecy about the White Army. Everything related to the White Army, they knew it all.
But, even as old souls, they tended to forget something.
As the one in the army who held the closest relationship with these old men, Siji would constantly remind them of several things regarding to the army.
But, with how he was trained before he became the adviser of White Army, he was really not good in pacifying these old coots who were used with how humans, the previous masters, treated them respectfully. Instead of mingling with them, Siji chose to read the old books in the library.
Yes, they had library. Where else would they store the records?
That was what he would do before he got the signal that the new master had arrived. Only after he had met the new master who was still a teenager then he told the Guardian of Legacy about the exact presence of the new master.
As the Guardians, they knew that a new master had appeared, but they wouldn’t know the person until they met him or her. Usually, the adviser would bring the new master to meet them right away. But, this seventh adviser of them only brought a picture of the new master; it was unknown how he took the picture or by using what means. Surprisingly, the person in the picture was not that unfamiliar with them.
Instead, she was someone they knew.
.....
Years ago, her father was selected to be the new master of White Army, but apparently he failed. Then, out of nowhere, his kid came and claimed the title as the Master without following the selection; which was okay since the selection was only to accommodate those who had ability to make use of their ability to their best.
They couldn’t reject a new master, but they could make the new master unable to use the army until they agreed to it. That showed how much they weighed in the decision’s making in the army. Obviously they had many dissatisfaction with the new master.
Siji, however, only showed the picture and left. He didn’t say anything aside from “this is the new master of White Army” before he went.
Therefore, after he left, those old men was engaged in a heated discussion about the new master.
Jane Harris.
Their dissatisfaction was one, she was a girl. They only had one female master before and the experience with the female master was obviously not good. Based on this female master, they knew the future of White Army would be bad if Jane were to be the master of White Army. A shy and indecisive master, who wanted that?
The second was not only this new master was a girl, she was also still a teenager. Who didn’t know that a teenager could not control their mood swing? No matter in which era, teenagers were always the hardest to control. What if she were in the mood to slaughter people? She might use the army to really do that. Well, it was an exaggeration, but she would probably be more impulsive than any hot-headed man. So, no, a teen girl was obviously not the best master.
The third was the girl didn’t come to greet them. Out of all the masters of White Army, excluding the first master, they all came and greeted the guardians, paid respects to those elderly men. But, this girl was nowhere to be found even after some time had passed.
In reality, it was not even a day, but these old men really knew how to exaggerate things.
Actually, not all of them had the same thinking about Jane. One or two of them didn’t really care who would be the master as long as the master didn’t break the balance in the astral world.
At this particular time where the discussion had heated up, the so called Jane appeared. It was all thanks to Siji! If only Jane knew Siji was the one who brought her to meet those old men, he might get a good beating from Jane.
But he was so good at hiding himself as he let those old men got scolded by Jane. Shy? Did Jane look shy now? Indecisive? The one who had commanded the army without even batting her eyelids or asking questions, Siji was sure she was far from indecisive.
Those old men who were used to be respected a lot would suffer in her hands. They had forgotten their position and main goal after these years. Maybe Jane could put them into their place. That’s what he thought.
After taking Jane back, Siji returned to where those old men were. As expected, there was displeasure in some of their faces.
“Seventh Adviser, are you taking side with her? You’re not here when she came just now, are you purposely leaving her here?” Old One said in displeasure when Siji appeared.
Rather than defending himself, Siji sat down and let those unsatisfied old men venting their anger on him. Well, he still had something to tell them so letting them venting a bit was not much for him. Another news yet to come to give them a huge shock. Jane had shocked them several times just now, but the biggest news remained hidden.
“She provoked the sky! You heard that?” Old Three said in rage.
“Seventh Adviser, you were with her right after she claimed the army, right? Did she really command the army?” Old Four asked calmly. “Do you really accept her to be the new master?”
“She did and yes, I do.” Siji answered calmly.
“Why?! You knew for sure that it is forbidden! She will die! DIE!” Old Three shouted. “You know we don’t like writing dead person in the records.” He frowned.
“Old Six, do tell me the last prophecy by the first master before he died.” Siji turned his head towards the only man who kept silent throughout the whole ordeal.
Old Six frowned. “Why do you still keep your habit of calling us with number? How many times have I told you that you should call me Eyang[1] Wira, you rascal?!” He glared at Siji.
“You all know that I have a name, too, but you insist in calling me ‘seventh adviser’ or ‘number seven’. So, to save my energy, I decided to call you by number as well.” Siji replied nonchalantly. “Just give up. Old Six is much easier to say than Eyang Wira.”
“This brat!” Old Five wanted to smack him, but he held back.
“Guardians of Legacy, what is the last prophecy from the First Master?” Siji practically ignored their angry stares and looked at them one by one.
“Siji, why are you asking it to us?” Old Five frowned in confusion.
“If you forget about it, then let me recite it for you. ‘There will come a day where a new master who is so powerful appears in front of you in a different way the others would appear. This person doesn’t even need the presence of General to help him or her to control the army, to command the army. This person’s spiritual power is so vast like the ocean that it can accommodate the whole army. Just so you know, when this person appears, it means a big occurrence will happen in the near time. The universe will not let any abnormality goes unnoticed and unsolved. It means something has disrupted the balance of the world. Support this person as much as you can. The balance must be restored.’ Tell me if I’m wrong.” Siji ended his long speech.
The six old men who were surrounding the table stared at Siji as if he was just scolding them. In reality, what he told them started to enter their brain and their brain was processing it as soon as it entered.
A person with vast spiritual power? Able to command the whole army without a general? Was the First Master referring to Jane Harris?
On what basis did she become the one in the prophecy? Even if it’s true, should they let a teen girl to fix the balance of the world? It sounded unbelievable, right?
Not only unbelievable, but also impossible, right?
“She didn’t show any abnormality after commanding the army for more than 24 hours. I think she is the one the First Master was talking about.” Siji added as he saw them unresponsive to what he had said.
It seemed like the bomb this time was too strong, didn’t it?
“Now that I’ve reminded you all about it, I need to go back. I need to prepare her to get ready to face the world. You don’t want a clueless girl to fix the balance of the world, right?” He smirked. “Don’t worry. As far as I see it, she might even surpass the First Master in commanding the army. Just wait and see.” Siji left the Guardians after saying so.
Silent filled the room after Siji left. The old men were sitting in their seat while still pondering over what Siji had just said. They really had not thought about that possibility before. It seemed like their time as the Guardians of Legacy would end up soon.
Unwillingness painted to some of the old men’s face. They were used to order humans around, holding the highest command in White Army where even the Master of the army would follow what they said. They were not ready to part with that.
They forgot the purpose of their existence. As the Guardians of Legacy, they existed only to supervise and help the new masters of White Army, and it was not forever. They had time limit. The limit was when a powerful master appeared. After the crisis had passed, so did their time.
That was why before they were appointed as guardians, the first master had repeatedly reminded them to be neutral, to stay away from human’s greediness, and to maintain a positive aura around them. But, they forgot about it. Not all of them, but some of them forgot about it.
The others who were calmer sighed. Their expression showed that they were ready for everything. But the others wore a terrified expression on their faces.
No, we don’t want to go back yet!
