Chapter 106

“I don’t mind.” I smiled, but even though the water was put in front of me, I didn’t touch it.

I noticed the Shadows in their body soared high and watched me from above. As the negative aura increased, some of my White Army men appeared out of nowhere right behind me, dispelling the negativity around me.

Seeing my relax stance without any care in this awkward situation where I was being stared by four to five people in the room, there was a hint of confusion and astonishment in their gaze.

Maybe they thought no one had ever escaped from their pressure.

I was the odd one, then.

As I watched them, I realized the only one whose Shadow was not pressuring me was the previous man’s Shadow. It was still gnawing at his neck lazily.

I could roughly guess that he was the next sacrifice prepared by this family. What his relationship with this rotten family was still unknown to me and I wasn’t interested in it so far.

If I needed to help someone, I didn’t have to know that person’s background.

.....

A low growl snapped me back to my senses and I moved my gaze to the tiger that was walking slowly into the room.

“Stay away from the kid.” The tiger shot me a warning glare. There was no kid inside the room but I was sure it meant the man.

I arched my left eyebrow when I heard it talking. It stopped outside the perimeter and looked at me with a murderous glint.

I chuckled. “Mr. Tiger, I don’t have any reason to hurt this poor man. If you’re on his side, why don’t you help him?”

My words made the other five widened their eyes. Their eyes darted around, trying to see the tiger I was talking to.

The tiger snorted. “Foolish human! No matter how hard you try to see me, you won’t be able to see me.”

“So, you’re here only for his sake?” Ignoring the bunch of imbeciles, I continued talking to the tiger. It seemed to me that these people knew about this tiger but didn’t have the luck to actually see it.

The tiger let out a low growl as a reply for my question. “Just don’t hurt him.” It said before it turned around and walked away to watch from the side.

The tiger might look fierce, but it was not as dangerous as it looked. It even looked helpless as it didn’t have any idea on how to help the man.

I shifted my gaze to the man who was standing behind the others with his head lowered but eyes wandering around.

“You, what’s your name?” I nodded at him, successfully cutting off the words that seemed to come out from one of Amanda’s sister’s mouth.

“Ah, m-me? My name is Bumi [1].” He replied, earning him a glare from the others.

I nodded calmly. “Nice name.”

“Miss Jane.” One of the brothers frowned in displeasure and with a hint of warning as I directly ignored them.

“Yes?” I smiled at the man who called my name. My expression might be unthinkable for him as he was stunned for a second.

The Shadows above his head flickered and sneered at me, reaching out their long arms to claw at me.

How stupid!

I slapped those claws until they shrieked in pain. I could see it affected the host as the man’s face drained of color and he swayed slightly. His eyes widened in shock as he looked at me more intense than ever.

Not only him, but also the others were looking at me!

Ignoring their stares, I took out a wet tissue from my bag and cleaned my hand that I used to slap those hands.

“I don’t know where you have your guts from, but I’m not like the others who will feel intimidated by you.”

The smile on my face disappeared as I shot them cold and aloof stare. It was tiring to play nice guy with these fools!

Seeing they were more or less the same with the old man, I didn’t think I had any reason to spare them. Not to mention another life was in their hands.

Of course, I wouldn’t kill them.

I wouldn’t dirty my hands.

“I knew from the first I saw you that you’re troublemaker! You are simply bringing bad luck to us! Rizal’s and Amanda’s death was definitely caused by you!” Amanda’s sister who was silent the whole time finally opened her mouth and words that came out from her mouth was only accusation.

I chuckled as I heard her accusation. Leaning forward while crossing my arms on my knee, I clearly felt the mockery and the disdain in my eyes.

Now that all pretenses had been shed, they didn’t bother to show hospitality anymore. The negative aura was getting intense, but it didn’t affect me a bit. Instead, the Shadow in the first man seemed to be more vigorously sucking on his life force.

In a minute, the man turned even paler and weaker.

I wasn’t supposed to only watch it instead of helping him. But, I was more curious as to why the tiger was protecting the man but it allowed the Shadow to feed on him? Judging from its aura, I bet it had tremendous power in it. Slapping a Shadow like that was easy for it to do.

But, it didn’t do it. Why, though? Would it abandon Bumi in the middle of this chaos?

The roar of tiger pulled me back to reality and made the dense negativity dissipated a lot. The five people in the room turned all their heads towards the gigantic tiger that walked lazily towards them.

By seeing their reaction, I knew they could see it, including the murderous intent in its eyes.

“I thought you would never make a move.” I smiled.

“You did it intentionally!” It hissed.

I shrugged. “Obviously you had the capability, but you didn’t make a move. Why? I’m curious.”

The tiger snorted. It eyed the five people who had not recovered from their shock and snarled at them. “If I remove the thing forcefully, I’m afraid I will hurt him and end up risking his life. That’s why I couldn’t do anything.” It said slowly.

“Do you want me to help you?” I offered my help.

The tiger turned his head towards me. “Wrong step and I’ll swallow you with these fools!” He threatened, but he didn’t refuse my help either.

“Don’t worry, it’s easy.” I stood up and walked towards Bumi who was crouching on the floor.

The tiger followed me closely, going through the line of five people easily.

It was really easy, actually. I grabbed the Shadow’s face and a shriek was heard coming from its mouth. I needed to prying open its mouth so it wouldn’t keep feeding off Bumi. As I was finally able to pull its teeth, it struggled even more but I didn’t loosen my grip in its neck. The rest was easy to do; just pulling it out like pulling out weed in the front yard and back yard.

With one of my hand gripping the struggling shadow, my other hand touched his soul, calmed it down so he wouldn’t feel overly dizzy.

“Done.” I looked at the tiger with a smile on my face. “Bumi is also okay.” I patted the Bumi’s shoulder.

The tiger didn’t seem to believe its own eyes. It had been living near Bumi ever since Bumi’s mother died. It was supposed to be a guardian, but it failed to do it which resulted in its master. It had tried to slap the Shadow away with his big paw, but he noticed the pale face Bumi experienced so it canceled its intention.

Until I appeared.

It must feel so bad after seeing me pulling away the shadow so easily.

“What do I do with it?” I raised the struggling shadow in front of me towards the tiger.

The tiger didn’t say anything, but it crouched down, putting on a stance that it would jump. So, I threw it and the tiger went to put an end to the Shadow.

“Now, it’s your turn.” I smiled evilly towards to five people.

The five of them snapped back to their senses and horror was imminent in their faces after seeing the tiger was shredding the shadow apart with its claws and teeth. I couldn’t imagine what would happen if the shadow was a human.

Before I could move to pull the ‘weeds’, I heard desperate cries nearby.

“Help us! Help us, too!”
