Chapter 819 - The Something Interesting
Thus the first night that Howard spent in his house after six long months was a pitiful one for him.
All he could do was curse his big mouth for uttering those words which got him in trouble but at the same time, he scowled at his best friend who had forced him to conceal this matter from her through the promise between them.
Contrary to how he had been, Yvonne had a good night's sleep and even had a pleasant dream though she could not remember its contents after waking up.
Mrs. Jacinth and Roselie entered her room when the young girl sat up in bed.
The maids did their job while Yvonne turned around and admired the painting she had asked her butler to hand on the wall over her bed.
In the framed painting was the image of the sun rising over the lake that she had visited on her birthday around six months ago.
This was the same painting that Knox had gifted to her before revealing where his passions lay.
To support her cousin, Yvonne declared herself to be his first admirer as she revealed what she had done to the gift he had given to her.
Knox had always felt that no one would ever appreciate his efforts and his passion would end up in the storerooms at home but her words and actions fueled his desires in hopes that many would do the same.
This was also why, in the last few months, this cousin of hers had been spending time outside his villa, roaming around disguised as a commoner in search of any scenic spot that he could paint.
When Yvonne first heard what he was up to from Roman, she was surprised and also admired his drive to find his inspiration.
While Knox had found a new purpose for his life, Roman wasn't too far behind.
He had been forming new connections which was also the reason why the twins had relocated to the Capital for the time being.
The elder twin had been busy meeting people and getting to know how the commerce guild worked.
He had been there once with his father when the Valente couple had stayed in Amarthea and later even sought out his uncle, Earl Rutherford if he needed help.
The Earl liked his tenacity to strive for success and helped out by introducing him to some of the dependable men in the guild.
From what she had learned from Roman, later on, Yvonne knew that he had also invested in a few of the popular and thriving businesses in the Capital.
Not just those in the Commercial District that mostly catered to the nobles but also in those that had been established by commoners, for commoners.
These weren't too famous in the noble society but Roman had seen potential in them and after hearing that a nobleman wished to invest in them, those commoner merchants were also happy to work with him.
The investment he had put into these few businesses was lesser than even one of the noble-oriented stores yet he was sure that in a few years, they would bloom and bring him greater profits in the long run.
Yvonne applauded his sense of patience when it came to these matters as it would indeed take time to reach greater heights for a business, especially one which did not gain external support until now.
Not to mention that most of those noble stores and businesses had been present for generations now and must have gone through the same stages once upon a time in the past.
CLOVER was still budding too but it had her investment which had propelled it to higher positions without waiting for a very long time.
Thinking of one familiar business that Roman had invested in made Yvonne smile but when her nanny asked her about it, she simply shook her head and did not reveal much.
___
It was the weekend so Yvonne did not have any classes other than the dance class that would commence in a few hours which gave her time to have a leisurely breakfast with her family.
When she arrived at the Dining Hall dressed in a daisy loose-fitted dress with fewer layers as she liked to move around freely when she was at home, she found everyone already waiting for her inside.
Howard smiled at the little girl who seemed shorter than him because he had grown a lot taller than her in the few months they had spent away from each other.
"Is Vonny still mad?" He questioned when she sat on the other side of the table, waiting for the maids to serve her food.
The parents had already heard what had happened before she arrived but did not interfere as this was between the siblings.
"Did the interesting thing take place already?" Yvonne retorted while tilting her head.
She disliked being left in the dark, especially after the topic had been brought up before her.
Therefore, when she questioned him, she smiled at him but her smile did not reach her ear, making the elder brother let out another sigh.
Rutherford had already known that she had grown to become more and more blunt with her words after having stayed with her while they worked together in the Office.
He had also mentioned this matter to his wife, worried that he had caused her to become that way by influencing her.
However, Raylene had informed him that her elder brother was the same when he was younger and chances were that their child must have taken after him.
'I'd rather she resemble me.' The jealous husband had swallowed his retort back then but by now, he had realized that she possessed a mixture of both of their snarky attitudes.
Therefore, he could only pity his son who was now being targeted by her for such a simple reason.
Thankfully, Howard did not have to suffer for long as by the time breakfast ended, the old butler informed them about the carriage that had just arrived.
His eyes twinkled and he hurried Yvonne to follow him outside.
Her curiosity had won over her so she did not ignore him any longer but at the same time, did not rush out as he had.
The St. Claire couple too followed after their children and when the entire family headed outside, they finally caught sight of the something 'interesting' that Howard had been talking about.
"Brother Taylor is the interesting one?" Yvonne had a look of dissatisfaction written all over her face, causing Jax and the Earl to chortle at her words.
Even Howard snickered but managed to hold it in and was glad that he did as the glare from the Countess was sufficient to silence them all.
Looking at Taylor Tanner alighting from his family's carriage, the little girl felt that she had been curious and eager for nothing.
Shooting a glance filled with disdain at her elder brother, she turned towards the other boy once again.
Taylor had already awakened and had now found his etcher as well which none of the rest knew about.
Therefore, it was easy for him to hear every word that she had uttered after he had exited the carriage.
"Vonny…" He sulked and his disheartened eyes pierced through her heart, welling up feelings of guilt inside the little girl.
However, in the next second, guilt washed away as her eyes widened in surprise when she finally discovered something, a strange sensation that had never been around the young boy who was still standing by the carriage.
"Brother Taylor, you…" She had come up with an inference while her father had already recognized what was different about the boy who had come to visit them this morning.
'Not bad.' Rutherford nodded in appreciation after realizing what was inside the carriage that Taylor had ridden here.
Raylene, Butler Limo, and Jax were still unaware of this sensation that Yvonne and Rutherford had discovered so they gazed around in hopes of receiving some answers about what exactly was taking place here.
When the Earl noticed his wife's curiosity, he leaned closer and whispered something in her ear but Yvonne had heard it nonetheless as her training with Demon had heightened her overall senses.
Thus as she watched the young boy turn towards the carriage and bring someone else out this time, her proud smile that had already formed widened further.
