Chapter 446 - Status
Chapter 446 - Status
The room was dark as even the moon could not illuminate it thanks to the thick clouds concealing it.
Darkness overshadowed the entire land and not a sound was heard this fateful night.
An eerie silence resembling the calm before a vicious storm had taken over the entire Valente estate.
Inside the bedroom where Yvonne was still fast asleep, the snake constricting her body was gazing down at her intently.
Its glowing neon green eyes were watching the child's steady breathing which indicated that she would not wake up any time soon.
Hovering above her face, the snake leaned closer to her ear and stared at that tiny white earlobe right before its eyes.
Its mouth opened and a long black tongue slithered out.
Finally, a sound was heard in the silent room.
*Hiss*
The snake hissed right into her ears but Yvonne exhibited no signs of waking up from her deep slumber.
The hisses were low and drawled out yet they sounded to be forming words.
Words that Yvonne had never heard in either of her worlds were now being whispered into her ear through those serpentine hisses.
It took a while for the snake to complete whatever it was trying to relay to the unconscious little girl.
Once the sounds ceased, the room returned to its former tranquility.
With its body still coiled around hers, the snake lifted its head from her ear and moved forward until it was right next to her temple.
"Remember it all, child." A command from a silky smooth yet dangerous voice leaked out of the snake's mouth.
After it had completed speaking, its long black tongue slithered out and the tip brushed against Yvonne's temple.
It happened in one slow motion but the entire length of the snake's tongue swept across her skin, causing a prompt shudder to take hold of her body.
A frown appeared on her earlier peaceful face but she did not appear to be in pain.
The uncomfortable feeling that had run through Yvonne's spine just a moment ago was gone as she continued to remain in her slumber.
As the tongue separated from her, the sticky residue from the snake's tongue stuck to her temple before it got absorbed into her skin.
The glowing eyes glinted at this sight as the snake let out a low, eerie cackle.
Unafraid that its movements might wake her up, the snake skillfully disentangled its long body which had been intertwined with hers.
In a few swift moves, Yvonne was free from the clutches of the snake who was now staring right at her face.
"Master will be happy this time." The same smooth voice was heard in the room before silence overtook it.
Having completed its task here, the figure of the snake as it laid languidly next to Yvonne began to fade.
Its eyes remained focused on the child as every last trace of its presence began to disappear from plain sight.
The steady breathing coming from the child was consistent as the nimble intruder finally vanished from the room.
Everything appeared to have returned to normalcy as though it had never arrived in this place.
However, the child's face which began to distort with each passing second proved that not everything had gone back to normal.
__
In another place, a whole different realm, one above every other realm in existence,
A man with shimmering silver hair sat on a reclining seat as his golden eyes stared at the entrance of the room he was currently inside.
His long index finger tapped the wooden armrest, something he did every time he was anxious.
Not many things could make this great man anxious but one person most certainly could.
Right now, he was waiting to hear news from someone about matters closely related to this person who could affect his emotions without even trying.
'What is taking him so long?' He scowled at the one who should have arrived by now.
With each passing second, the tempo of his fingers tapping against the wood grew faster until it stopped completely.
The reason for this halt was the shadow that appeared, visible only through the slight gap underneath the closed door.
"Master, I have returned." A voice arose, the very same that had whispered strange hisses into Yvonne's ear.
The man seated inside the room did not respond but with a flick of his hand, the door was unlocked.
As the light from outside entered the room, the features of the man with silver hair were visible now more than ever.
Long silver hair falling loosely over his shoulders, a bare chest that looked chiseled and strong which contrasted the gentle facial features he possessed.
Everything about him screamed beauty and poise which he knew too well.
Those golden eyes which resembled a snake peered down at the man kneeling outside his door.
"Status." He uttered in a languid voice, contrary to the turmoil and anxiety in his heart.
The one kneeling outside the door finally looked up with a bright smile as this time he had accomplished the task assigned to him.
"Success, Master." He informed and was glad to see the sigh of relief escaping his Master's lips.
His thick black hair accentuated his pale white skin which appeared to have never seen the rays of the sun.
However, the most striking feature about him that could attract anyone's eye was the pair of glowing neon green eyes which were gazing at the Master before him.
"You did good this time, Yether." The man with silver hair praised his diligent disciple for his achievements, unlike the last time.
Yether remained kneeling on the floor but his smile widened when he heard the compliment.
The last time he almost choked to death but this time, he was praised so the little disciple was immensely overjoyed to have been given this blessing.
This pair of Master and disciple were none other than Neopolene, God of wisdom and knowledge, and his disciple, Yether.
Neo had been uneasy for many days after learning that his old friend Asmodeus had paid a visit to that girl whose soul he had dropped into this new world.
Cutting short a vacation to make sure that she was alright amused Neo endlessly.
The God who was aloof and did not put people in his eyes was now looking after the soul that he had wronged through his actions.
This made Neo wonder what exactly was going through his old friend's mind.
However, more than his curiosity for the inner workings of the God of flight and thunder's mind, he was interested in the world that he had created.
This was a world that Asmodeus had worked hard to create yet it was lacking in most aspects.
Being a seasoned writer, Neo had taken it upon himself to right the wrongs to ensure that his friend might not be put to shame if his script failed once again.
Therefore, the God had been working in the shadows to make sure that everything moved on the right path.
He had sent Yether on an earlier mission to make the Main Villainess, Glennise Brodie, fall head over heels for the Male Lead, Prince Fritzen.
However, his side mission concerning the Side Villainess had been unsuccessful.
This was the cause of Yether almost losing his life thanks to the lesson that Neo had taught him.
Regardless, the lesson had proved its efficacy as today, Yether had not disappointed him.
He had returned with a victorious smile which meant that this time, he had succeeded in doing what he had failed the last time.
Yether could sense the joy radiating through his Master's face which in turn made him happy as well.
"Rest for a while." Neo suggested, warming his disciple's heart with the concern he had just displayed.
Yether nodded his head and with another bow, he disappeared from the spot where he had been kneeling until now.
After the man had left, the door shut by itself, and Neo was once again alone with his thoughts.
'You disrupted my plan last time, Asmo, but not this time.' Neo smirked as he had managed to initiate something that would work wonders for the script that Asmodeus had written.
The last time that he was referring to was the very first time he had interfered in the world created by his former best friend.
The entity that he had conjured up and sent to that child Asmodeus had brought over to the new world was drained of its power by the strong god.
After that, Neo chose to remain in the shadows but his plan had been the same all along.
The plan was to make that soul residing in the child's body recall the memories of the past.
The memories belonging to Yvonne St. Claire, a side villainess who died in the script.
The world was restarted once the script was rejected and time reversed to the beginning of the script's timeline.
With the time moving backward, those with adult bodies became children once again and one among them was Yvonne St. Claire.
The memories of the past before the world was restarted were wiped clean from everyone's minds to ensure that nothing out of the script would happen.
The task assigned to Yether by his Master was to make Yvonne St. Claire recall the memories before the reset took place.
Memories of her friends, her family, and her life before she died.
The first time he had sent the entity but Asmodeus had intervened.
The next was when Yether failed due to his powers of manipulation being disrupted by the innocent action of the little girl's maid.
But this time, he had succeeded in his mission.
'A new soul doesn't matter because the body and the memories remain the same.' He concluded while looking out of the window.
Now all he had to do was wait till the body of the side villainess regained her memories which aligned with the plan that he had in his mind.
'A gripping love saga of the leads will only bloom in the presence of a worthy antagonist standing against them.' He smirked, willing to wait to see how things would unfold next.
