Chapter 445 - Nimble Intruder
Chapter 445 - Nimble Intruder
'Wait till you hear what they did to me!'
The moment this thought entered Yvonne's mind, she heard her brother speaking up after remaining silent until now.
"Grandpa, the Blaise family tried to harm Vonny too!" He complained as a child would to an elder he could trust.
Hearing Howard's grumbling words, the Valente family turned towards the little girl with troubled eyes.
To play her part, Yvonne jutted out her lip and made sure that she appeared gloomy and vulnerable at this moment.
The appearance of the cute little girl whose face exhibited her sadness made anger surge in their hearts.
"What did they do to Vonny?" Grandpa Valente was the first to react as he patted her head and looked at her parents, waiting for proper answers.
Since Raylene was the first to hear about the rumors circulating about her child, she took the opportunity to reveal everything she knew.
Rutherford added a few points here and there which aided in grasping what had taken place with the little girl.
"They dared to be so brazen!" Marcus Valente growled as he clenched his fists.
His heart was already filled with anger for the Blaises after the two incidents where they had acted against his sister and the people from his fief.
This was the last straw for him and his desire to teach the Blaises a lesson was coursing through his veins.
Similarly, Grandpa Valente and the rest of the family approved of his unvoiced thoughts as they had felt the same way.
Yvonne looked at them with a smile when she saw how they were angry on her behalf and her heart melted at the affection they were displaying even after knowing each other for such a short amount of time.
Rutherford and Raylene along with Howard were happy and grateful for their concern.
"Which is why we decided to show the Blaises that they cannot act as they please at all times." The Earl of St. Claire uttered as a grave look appeared on his face.
The reason why they had contacted Viscount Marcus Valente, why they had arrived at this fief, and the cause of the inquiry about the soap maker's location was finally disclosed to the Valentes.
Trisha was surprised to see how Raylene was also saying her piece in the information being shared.
Women were usually kept away from matters pertaining to the family business but it appeared that both Raylene and her daughter had a say in what was going on.
This came as a surprise to the Viscount's family, however, Old man Valente was smiling from ear to ear.
'Just like how you wanted it, my Hannah.' He thought to himself as his wife was also involved in all the decisions he made while she was still alive.
To see that his daughter and granddaughter were just like her, supporting their family and increasing its strength, made him feel that his deceased wife's wishes were coming true through them.
While he was still in his thoughts, Yvonne took this opportunity to reveal that once they contacted the soap maker, they could move ahead with their plan.
"To suppress Earl Blaise and prove that he is not invincible with that document he owns." She completed her explanation with confidence in her plan.
'Though let's keep my dream of being a businesswoman and CLOVER a secret for now.' She decided and conveniently never mentioned it.
They also concealed that she had thought up this plan so the Valente's assumed that it was Rutherford's all along.
Marcus was already annoyed with Earl Blaise so Yvonne's words were music to him.
"I already have their location so we can head over there first thing tomorrow morning." He suggested and would be sure to make all necessary preparations for the trip.
"We want to come along too!" The twins were quick to voice out their desire to accompany them.
Since this plan was Yvonne's in the first place and was meant to be the foundation of her business, she was the main person who needed to be present.
Rutherford was her guardian and would act as her spokesperson once again so his presence was also required.
Howard would not leave his sister alone so he too was added to the list.
As the location was known to the Viscount, it was obvious that he too would come along.
However, with the twins insisting that they too would like to accompany them, an additional carriage would be needed.
Marcus did not object once he noticed that Rutherford was fine with it.
So he nodded his head and asked them to be ready after breakfast when they would begin their three-hour-long journey.
With this, their heavy conversation which had been filled with many revelations, heartfelt apologies, strategies being unfolded, and much more had come to an end.
The family went back to rest for a while as they had spent a long time here and only reassembled when it was time for dinner.
'They are staring again.' Yvonne rolled her eyes while lowering her head, looking at her plate.
The three young boys were still worried about her absent-minded behavior when they were in the woods and once again kept an eye on her during dinner.
She could not change their minds so she chose to let them be and concentrate on the scrumptious meal the chefs had prepared for them.
The servants cleaned the table once they were done and soon everyone returned to their respective rooms for the night.
Just like her parents and elder brother, Yvonne too was tired after the long journey.
Therefore, after her maids helped her change and put her to bed, sleep was easy to find.
A deep slumber, one where she was lost in her dreams and had no awareness of her surroundings was what awaited her and she welcomed it with open arms.
The sky got darker and the moon hiding behind thick clouds caused the land to be embraced by pitch darkness.
As the night progressed, every soul in the estate was fast asleep and there was no one who was awake.
Awake to watch the one creature finding its way to the room where the little girl laid fast asleep on her bed.
Violet tresses left loose scattered over the pillow and the pure white camisole nightdress made her appear like a little angel.
This was exactly what the one watching her right now had thought after taking a look at her face.
When no one was awake, someone had sneaked into her room.
To be exact, someone had slithered into her room through the window.
The open window to allow the cool breeze to enter the room was the perfect means for this nimble intruder to also enter.
Still in her slumber, Yvonne did not notice that crawling in her direction was a reptile whose skin was akin to the dark shade of the night.
As the snake slithered through the window and entered the dim room, its neon green eyes, a stark contrast to its pitch black body glowed in the darkness.
Finding its way towards the foot of the bed where the unconscious little girl laid, it climbed onto the bed in no time.
While Yvonne was fast asleep, she did not know that there was a massive black snake also occupying the bed that she was on.
The snake's body rose in the air as it towered high, lowering its head to look down at the sleeping child.
The next moment, its shimmering black body began to wrap itself around her.
Starting from the legs, reaching to her thighs, her waist, all the way to her chest and finally coming to a halt at her neck.
The black snake's long body was wrapped around her yet she made no movement as though she did not feel anything amiss.
Like a boa constrictor, wrapping its body around its prey, her small body was in the grip of the serpent who was now watching her intently.
The snake never hissed or made a sound lest it awakened her.
However, it moved closer to her until their faces were just inches apart.
If someone were to enter the room right at this moment, then the room would be filled with shrill screams of terror at the sight before them.
A little girl laying on the bed with a massive black snake constricting her entire body while it stared right into the girl's face.
Sadly, there was not a soul awake at this dark hour to witness this frightful and extremely dangerous scene.
