Chapter 331 - Quest To Support Her Mother
Chapter 331 - Quest To Support Her Mother
Butler Limo glanced at the two maids who were present all along.
The intelligent maids did not need to be told as they had already comprehended the meaning of his subtle gesture.
"We will head to the Kitchen now, Butler." One of them announced.
"Please excuse us, Young Miss." The other requested and received a nod from the little girl.
Yvonne glanced over her shoulder and watched as the two maids scurried away in haste.
They had already experienced the seething anger of their Master who had just entered the office with the Madam.
Hence, they did not wish to stay any longer and accidentally overhear something else that they weren't privy to.
Butler Limo's eyes remained on their backs until they vanished from the hallway where they were standing and only then did he turn his sight to the little girl.
Yvonne did not bother to conceal her stern gaze as she waited for his response.
"Miss, everything happened exactly as you had planned." Butler Limo replied to her earlier inquiry.
This statement created a large question mark on her face as this could be interpreted in numerous ways.
Did Paula act as she had expected?
Did her father commit adultery with the maid who had her eyes set on leading a better life?
The progress of her plan could have gone either way.
Therefore, she glared at the Butler once again.
"Elaborate." She uttered, annoyed at his euphemistic way of speaking.
However, the Butler never got a chance to explain himself as they were disturbed before he could utter a single word.
*CRASH*
The sound of glass dropping to the ground and shattering into many pieces was heard from the office before which they were standing.
The two, one Young Miss and the other, a Butler, turned their anxious eyes towards the door as they fell into silence.
'If only I could hear what they were talking about!' Yvonne cursed that she did not have the same keen sense of hearing as her etcher.
Butler Limo was fretting what the situation inside the room was like and hoped that things would turn out to be alright in the end.
Muffled voices could be heard from time to time and the suspense of what was taking place inside was killing the little girl each second that passed.
A couple of minutes had passed with the child and the old man standing outside the door as they tried their best to figure out what was taking place inside.
However, they could not make anything out due to the thick door which blocked most of their voices.
'When he yelled earlier, we could hear him perfectly fine but now we cannot hear a thing!' She glowered at the excellent soundproofing of the office.
The anger and intensity with which Rutherford had yelled when the door was knocked had allowed his voice to permeate through the thick door.
Unfortunately, there were no such loud screams or yells coming from within.
'She seemed so calm when she entered… Is she controlling her anger right now as well?' The little girl wondered if this was the reason for the lack of noises being heard.
If this was any other woman, then there would certainly be loud arguments after the conversation that might have taken place inside.
Yet, Yvonne heard nothing of that sort which meant that her mother was being a passive member of this conversation and listening to everything that her father was saying right now.
This thought made her anger boil and bubble as she felt aggrieved for her mother who was not able to express her outrage and betrayal at what had taken place to her.
'I will never forgive him!' She snarled and decided that she needed to stand up for her mother who was not able to do so herself.
Butler Limo grimaced and felt panic rising in his heart when he saw the darkening face of his Young Miss.
"Miss, there seems to be…" He whispered in an attempt to alleviate her rotten mood but the glare that was directed at him, shut him up.
"If you are planning to defen-" She began her retort but did not get a chance to complete what she was saying.
The cause of this was the sounds of footsteps coming in their direction.
Yvonne and the Butler took a step away from the door and were just in time as the door was pulled open from the inside.
Looking up, her gaze landed on the first person to exit the room.
'She cried.' She asserted with confidence after taking a single look at her mother's face.
The reddened rims of the Countess' eyes were so pronounced that even Butler Limo had noticed them.
Raylene glanced down at her child and smiled, concealing the distressing thoughts in her head as she leaned towards her.
"Can Vonny return to her room by herself? Mama and Papa have a situation they need to deal with." She revealed while patting her daughter's head.
As much as Yvonne wanted to refuse her mother and follow her to see what this 'situation' was, she did not wish to burden her mother with more troubles than what was already on her plate.
Her earlier resolution to stand by her mother's side to support her was still burning wild in her heart yet she decided to remain silent for now.
'I need to get all the information about what happened today.' She decided and nodded in acceptance of her mother's words.
Having made up her mind on what to do next, the little girl flashed her mother a bright smile to lessen her worries.
However, when she turned to gaze at the man who had also exited the room with her mother, the smile vanished without a trace.
Yvonne fixed her narrowed eyes at her father and shot him a menacing glare before she turned around and strutted away from them.
The three adults who stood in the same position watched as the little girl strode away from the hallway and took a right, in the direction which would lead her to her room.
The parents were confused to see her behaving this way as she had never shown such open hostility to the Earl.
Raylene did not know what had gone wrong while Rutherford frowned and was unhappy with the way his child had just looked at him, as though something precious had just been snatched away from him.
The only person standing there who had an inkling of the Young Miss' strange behavior pretended that he did not know anything to keep their secret meetings and plans safe.
"Let us go, Ruthy." Raylene urged, bringing them back to their senses.
Rutherford nodded as he offered his hand to her and the two began walking in the opposite direction with the Butler following them.
__
With the adults leaving the hallway, the passage had turned desolate once again.
Therefore, there was no one to witness the sight of the little head full of violet hair peeking out from the corner of the hallway which she had just strode towards.
Amethyst eyes scanned the surrounding area to make sure that there was no one around.
'Now, let's go see what the heck is going on in this house!' She declared and straightened her back.
When her mother had asked her to return to the bedroom, she had acquiesced to not let the lady worry about her.
However, she had not given up on her quest to support her mother.
She had simply agreed to divert their attention on the matter at hand and forget about her for a while which she had succeeded in.
Now that they had fixed their attention elsewhere, she could move at ease and investigate this matter by her lonesome.
Tiptoeing in the direction that the party of three had left in, Yvonne St. Claire thus began her mission of spying on her family members to cure her serious case of curiosity.
However, while Yvonne was making sure to move in silence as she spied on her parents, she was unaware of the one spying on her.
___
"Miss St. Claire is now following the Earl and Countess towards the back garden of their Estate." A man dressed in black clothes knelt before someone as he reported this news.
"Continue watching her." An amused voice rose in the room which resulted in the disappearance of the black-clothed man.
'Interesting…' The young boy with bright emerald green eyes smirked as the room was once again engulfed in silence.
