Chapter 166 - TANG REINE
Fear. That's what Zhenyi was feeling right now. Fear. That's what Zhenyi had sworn to never feel again. Fear. That's what would kill her this time.
But she was not fearing for herself this time, she was afraid for that girl again.
Those men would kill her (the little girl) and there was nothing she could do to stop it. Her heart would kill her before those men would kill that little girl. That's all she could think right now as her heart was storming inside her ribcage. She had never felt like this before.
After the previous scene, she was now transported to another scene. The white gown she was wearing was colored red now. Red. The color of blood. It was now stained with blood.
Zhenyi couldn't make out anything but she could hear a few voices. The place where she was now was unknown and unfamiliar to her.
*Sccreeech!*
A few black cars appeared out of nowhere and stopped in front of a white car. The driver of the other car was startled as he was stopped by a pack of black cars. He pressed the breaks to avoid a collision.
"Get out of the car," a man got out of the black car, sneering as he walked, bypassing Zhenyi as his shoulder collided with invisible Zhenyi's shoulder and knocked on the car window. With one hand he was knocking on the car window and another one was holding a gun.
"I said get out of the car," he sneered again, but this time with obvious disgust and disdain in his voice.
In a minute, the spot was tinted red with blood but no one came out of the white car. The men from both the side were cutting, slashing or shooting each other with no hint of mercy or disgust in their action.
Swords were used, guns were shot and poisonous needles were pricked. It was worse than the battlefield, at least in a battleground, one knew who was fighting against who.
It was a scene no one would ever want to recall.
A scene so brutal, so barbaric...
A man dressed in a robe emerged, his one hand holding the sword and another hand unlocked the car door. And in a swift movement, he dragged the person sitting on the back seat of the car and threw the woman on the ground but her reflexes prevented her from falling on the ground.
"You!" Her eyes widened as she looked at the person who tried to toss her on the floor.
"Yes!" He replied arrogantly.
"You betrayed me," she said as she leveled against him.
"Tang Reine, you think I was working for you?" He sneered. "I have been working to kill you since the day you were born. I told you that your arrogance and pride will be your downfall and today, it will kill you and everyone that has your blood in it."
"Don't you dare!" She glared at him. "Don't you dare to walk a step towards me? Touch my children and see what I, Tang Reine, will do to you. My blood is not so weak and thin that a traitor like you can touch or end. I will protect my children and even if the cost is my own life."
He laughed evilly. "Will you protect your children? How? With one inside you, are you gonna protect the one which is living outside? So naive. So arrogant. Ah, Tang Reine, I will miss your arrogance after I kill you."
Zhenyi, who was also present on the scene, was witnessing everything. She didn't know why but there was an urge in her heart to protect the woman. She didn't know who she was and why she was seeing these people again and again, but right now she just knew that she had to protect her. But the question was how?
She looked around to find a way to protect her but there was nothing she could do instead of watching it helplessly. She was screaming for help, but nobody could hear her. Her chest along with her head was throbbing as if something was blasting inside her body. Her throat had turned hoarse after all the screaming but it was all in vain.
Nobody was hearing her. Nobody was looking at her. Nobody was noticing her.
And what could she do in such a situation?
Never had she ever felt so helpless, even earlier when she walking in darkness all along there was a flame of hope that was burning in her heart but now all she was feeling was helplessness and powerlessness.
And just like this, she knew that they would kill both the mother and her kids. She had no idea where the boy and her father were, but somebody needed to be here to save them, and unfortunately that somebody couldn't be her.
Why was God so cruel? If He had sent her here why not let her save them too? He couldn't be so cruel, could He?
Her gaze fell on the little figure curled up in the backseat of the car. Zhenyi knocked on the window and as if the girl was the only living being here who could hear or notice her, she glanced at Zhenyi, her eyes were red, tears were glistening in those eyes of hers. Although she was cowering with fear, yet she didn't let anyone know about her plight
Zhenyi couldn't help but feel an urge to hide her somewhere to save her innocence and childhood. She was too young to be tainted by this world and Zhenyi knew that there was nothing she could do to protect her innocence anymore. She would see the other face of this world today: cruelty and barbarity.
