Chapter 64 - 64: Tearing Off Lin Qingyan ‘s Hypocritical Face
A few seconds of silence enveloped the surroundings.
Lin Qingyan suddenly looked up, a frozen smile on her face, staring at Mu Qingmeng in disbelief.
Li Jingchen, who was in his thirties and considered a senior in the entertainment industry, was actually addressing this woman as a senior? Mu Qingmeng was slightly puzzled.
She glanced at Li Jingchen for a few moments and then smiled courteously, “I’m sorry, sir, may I know who you are?”
Li Jingchen momentarily blanked out but quickly regained his composure.
He looked somewhat embarrassed but remained respectful, “I had the privilege of meeting Senior Mu once in the city of Sijiu. You may not remember me.”
“I see,” Mu Qingmeng nodded, “It’s rare for me to make public appearances; it’s quite impressive that you still remember me.”
Aware that Mu Qingmeng preferred to keep a low profile, Li Jingchen chose not to press further, “I apologize for the earlier oversight, Senior Mu. I hope you won’t take offense.”
“I just had some free time and thought I’d step out,” Mu Qingmeng explained. “Fortunately, I ran into Miss Si outside, who allowed me to come in.”
Si Fuqing didn’t show any signs of familiarity with Mu Qingmeng, “You’re too kind, Teacher Mu.”
“Alright, you can go about your business,” Mu Qingmeng smiled again, “I’ll just take a look around myself.”
Si Fuqing pocketed her hands and walked straight toward the area where the trainees were, without even glancing at Lin Qingyan, who looked somewhat stiff.
“Teacher Mu, the VIP area is this way,” Lin Qingyan flashed a perfect smile again, “Since Teacher Si is busy, let me guide you there.”
“No need,” Mu Qingmeng’s smile faded, becoming quite distant, “I don’t like VIP areas.”
Lin Qingyan pressed her lips together, her voice softer, “Do you prefer quieter places, Teacher Mu? There’s a nice spot over there. It’s really inconsiderate of
Teacher Si to bring you in without arranging a seat for you.”
Mu Qingmeng suddenly stopped and fixed her gaze on Lin Qingyan.
Though she possessed the gentle demeanor typical of women from the Jiangnan region, her aura became suddenly imposing, making her even more intimidating.
Lin Qingyan involuntarily took a step back, “Teacher Mu?”
“When I was younger, I served as a music advisor for a historical drama,” Mu Qingmeng slightly smiled, “Some people, having acted in a few such dramas, believe they’ve become palace concubines, always scheming and playing petty tricks.”
“They fail to realize that these petty tricks only make them look like monkeys performing for an audience. Yet, they think they’re brilliant, capable of manipulating everyone, especially men.”
“I don’t like such people. Sometimes, these dirty little schemes backfire, and they’re the ones who end up suffering. Don’t you agree?”
After saying this, Mu Qingmeng distanced herself from Lin Qingyan and left for the seat that Si Fuqing had arranged for her.
Lin Qingyan stood there, her face alternating between shades of green and red, her emotions a mix of embarrassment and annoyance.
But what predominated was regret.
How had she not encountered Mu Qingmeng outside and invited her in?
Such good fortune had been seized by Si Fuqing instead. She was so lucky!
As Lin Qingyan’s thoughts churned in disarray, she looked up to find Li Jingchen frowning at her.
Her heart skipped a beat, “Teacher Li, is there something on my face?”
Li Jingchen shook his head, “I’ll go first.”
Lin Qingyan clenched her fists, her expression turning dark.
Just as she was about to go back and give some more instructions to Mu Ye and the others, she heard a loud commotion.
“Who’s over there?” Lin Qingyan stopped, “Why all the noise?”
“Teacher Lin, it’s the Third Miss from the Zuo family,” a staff member hurriedly explained, “She wants to go backstage, and it’s not a place just anyone can enter. We’re trying to stop her, but it’s difficult.”
“The Third Miss from the Zuo family?” Lin Qingyan smiled, “The Zuo family is the leading family in Lin after all. Why can’t their Third Miss go backstage? I’ll take her there myself; if anything happens, I’ll take responsibility.”
“This…” The staff member hesitated for a moment, then nodded, “Alright.”
Over at the trainees’ resting area.
“I found out that Lu Yan and his team are picking ‘Mountain Ghost Ballot,”‘ Xu Xiyun exclaimed excitedly, “Our style is different from theirs, so we won’t be overshadowed.”
Si Fuqing was currently patting the head of a certain Pixiu-like creature.
Xie Yu’s gaze followed her movements.
However, when his eyes landed on the small skirt worn over Little Bai’s posterior, he paused for a moment in silence.
Xu Xiyun burst out laughing, “Hahaha, Teacher Si, the little skirt you put on your dog is just ridiculous! And it’s baby pink! Is it a boy or a girl, and how old is it? Why would you choose this color?”
“What’s wrong?” Si Fuqing shot him a glance, ‘Even if it’s lived for hundreds of vears, if I sav wear Dink. it has to wear Dink. Understand?”
To cover up the fact that the Pixiu-like creature had no butt, she had no choice but to sew some little skirts for it to wear.
She truly had spent all her fortune on this dog-like Pixiu.
“Oh, oh, oh,” Xu Xiyun immediately became serious. He extended his hand,
“Hello, little doggie, want to shake hands?”
Little Bai: ‘
How dare you!
I’m a Pixiu!
This hand-shaking is insulting to whose intelligence?
Feeling wronged, Little Bai reluctantly extended its paw to shake hands with Xu Xiyun.
Deep in thought, Xie Yu also extended his hand.
Little Bai’s eyes lit up.
He looks somewhat like my dog-owner.
I like him!
Without hesitation, Little Bai let go of Xu Xiyun’s hand and cheerfully pounced towards Xie Yu.
Xie Yu casually petted its head.
“Why does it pounce on you and not me?” Xu Xiyun was frustrated, “I just took a bath today.”
Xie Yu absentmindedly stroked Little Bai’s luxurious fur, “Perhaps, it’s also judges people by the face.”
Xu Xiyun:
Little Bai let out a comfortable whine.
Much gentler than the dog-owner.
“I’m going to pick up a friend,” Si Fuqing stood up, “Xie Yu, get ready. You’re performing the opening theme song shortly.”
Xie Yu nodded.
“Hey, Teacher Si, are you just going to leave the little dog here?” Xu Xiyun asked, “What if someone steals it and mistreats it?”
Si Fuqing paused and looked at him with a complex expression, “Well, that person would really be something. If you run into them, you must tell me.”
Although Little Bai’s powers had been drained and it couldn’t return to its original form, a spiritually aware creature like a Pixiu wasn’t something just anyone could mess with.
Little Bai puffed out its tiny chest proudly, signaling that it was the best.
Xu Xiyun:
Why did he feel like he’d just been looked down upon by a dog?
Outside the sports stadium.
The sun was blazing today. Jiang Changning wore a baseball cap and pulled her hair into a high ponytail.
“Ningning,” Si Fuqing approached and grasped her hand sincerely, “I’ve been looking forward to your arrival.”
Jiang Changning handed over the prepared lunch box and hummed lightly,
“You were looking forward to the food, weren’t you?”
“Ah, you found out,” Si Fuqing said with a grin, “But my feelings for you, Ningning, are genuine. You’re so beautiful and virtuous; if I could marry you, it would be a lifetime blessing.”
Jiang Changning fell silent.
She suspected that Si Fuqing might have lost her mind.
But even if so, she was rather endearing.
Jiang Changning put on her mask and sat in a corner of the audience section.
The show would start at two, and by one forty, all the camera equipment had been set up.
Although the live stream was still pitch-black, numerous fans were already waiting, and the screen was filled with a dense stream of comments.
[Third episode, Xie Yu, walk with you on the flowery path, can’t wait for your ascension to stardom!]
[Waiting for Xie Yu to appear! !! ]
[How much longer till it starts? I’m withering from waiting.]
[First time watching the live stream, so excited! Will we see Xie Yu’s chiseled abs and chest?]
Ever since the incident with Xu Ruotong, Xie Yu’s fans were no longer passive; they had occupied the comment section like a thunderstorm, leaving Lu Yan’s fans powerless to fight back.
Backstage.
“Get ready; it’s about to start,” the planner tapped his earpiece, “Have you briefed the trainees that the production team is focusing on? We’ll need a few of them for some scenes, and the camera will shift to them.”
The director nodded, “I’ve informed them.”
Of course, the trainees that the production team was heavily promoting needed to be notified in advance.
The producer sighed in relief, “Good, we must be vigilant today to ensure the program runs smoothly.”
“Director, Producer, we have a problem!” Just then, a staff member ran in, panting and anxious, “Group 7’s dance costumes and competition outfits have all disappeared.”
The planner frowned and stood up abruptly, “What’s going on? Which group is
Group 7? Do we have backups? Why aren’t you preparing them?”
“It’s Xie Yu’s group,” the staff member said, sweating profusely, “Xie Yu is also performing the theme song, and he’s the center!”
How could they proceed with the theme song performance without the center?
When the producer heard this, he paused and sat back down.
“Ah, it’s Group 7,” he said, “In that case, let’s change the center to Lu Yan..”
