地震时怎样保护自己

Chapter 15 - 15: Dodging Debts (1)

Suddenly, an undercurrent surged through the air, as Qin Zhiyou stared intently at Secretary Wang beside him.

Secretary Wang felt a chill down his spine under his stare, leaning back as if he longed to turn around and run away.

Being Qin Zhiyou’s secretary, he was the one who arranged all of Qin Zhiyou’s female escorts. He was one of the few who knew Lu Weixi’s identity, and that she worked at Lulu Design Institute.

Then Qin Zhiyou withdrew his gaze, sending a quick message, “If you want money, wait for me at home tonight.”

Both Qin Zhiyou and Lu Weixi usually took their time reading messages. Although she had lost Liu Yiyi’s order, she still had numerous cases at hand. As an interior design engineer leading a small team, they were busy from dawn to dusk. They had to go everywhere to conduct site reviews, measure dimensions, draft designs, spend ages discussing changes with clients. They talked till their mouths were dry and their faces were covered with sardonic smiles, hardly having time to eat, let alone drink water.

When they finally finished, it was already dark out, and they hadn’t eaten dinner. Seeing that both Xiaochen and Xiaoqian had gone out with her and were equally famished, she felt a bit embarrassed. Even though money was tight, she still could afford a meal worth a few hundred bucks. With a wave of her hand, she asked, “Is there any good place to eat nearby? I’ll treat you guys.”

The enthusiastic nodding from Xiaochen and Xiaoqian already had them searching for nearby delicacies. She too opened the restaurant review website on her phone – only then did she notice Qin Zhiyou’s message, buried among a pile of unread ones.

It was already seven in the evening. Lu Weixi hesitated between immediately going home and treating her colleagues, finally gritted her teeth and said to Xiaochen, “You guys go eat first. Send me the bill afterward, I’ll reimburse you.” Then she took out her car keys, opened the car door and got in, hitting the gas pedal.

Lu Weixi, who used to be a wealthy young lady, had once indulged in the same leisure activities as those idle rich second generations, such as partying, racing, horse racing, etc. But now her car was a thirty thousand dollars Changan car, bought on loan, which even Qin Zhiyou’s secretary wouldn’t ride. She bit her lip, gripped the steering wheel tightly, and sped along the road. Making sure she was careful not to be caught by the surveillance cameras — getting caught would mean fines.

A journey that normally took an hour was covered by her in forty minutes. When she parked the car, even before Aunt Hao could come to greet her, she rushed inside asking, “Has he arrived?”

Before Aunt Hao could answer, a cool voice sounded from behind, “You seem quite eager.”

Lu Weixi turned around to see a tall man stepping out from his car, gradually moving from the shadows into the light.

It was Qin Zhiyou. Lu Weixi let out a sigh, about to say hello, but Qin Zhiyou walked past her towards the entrance without even glancing at her, changed into slippers and went upstairs. As if she was a phantom.

Chasing behind him, Secretary Wang with his briefcase, stopped in front of Lu Weixi, politely saluted, “Young Madam,” then followed Qin Zhiyou upstairs.

Afterward, even from the foyer on the first floor, Lu Weixi could still hear the heavy closing of the study room door upstairs.

She wondered when she’d get her money..
