地震时怎样保护自己

Chapter 14 - 14 Charge Items (6)

That incident was key in her decision to marry into the Qin family, it was also the key to the explosive conflict between her and Qin Zhiyou later on, and even more so, was the turning point for Qin Zhiyou’s rapidly deteriorating attitude towards her over the years.

Honestly, she understood Qin Zhiyou’s harshness towards her and sincerely appreciated him. Their union, or rather her carefully orchestrated scheme that brought it about, was a rarity considering the proud man Qin Zhiyou was. More so, the preservation of this union over so many years was indeed commendable.

Seemingly hearing someone call her from behind, Lu Weixi’s eyes sharpened as her hand tightened around the takeaway coffee cup that she was holding. Coffee spilt out from the cup, staining her hand, but she was indifferent. With a light flick of her hand, the cup was thrown into a rubbish bin and then, pulling out a tissue, she meticulously wiped clean the splotches left on her hand.

As she reflected on the path she had stepped forth upon all these years, maybe some decisions she had made initially weren’t perfect, but she had no regrets.

Moreover, be it for money or to prove a point to her father, or for any other reason, she was the last person to let go of the title ‘Madam Qin’.

Unless…

It wasn’t until two hours later that Qin Zhiyou opened the WeChat message.

He always muted his phone during meetings. Seeing the message from Lu Weixi after the meeting, he quickly unlocked the phone using his finger-print. However, his brows furrowed involuntarily upon seeing the content of the message. He then tossed the phone onto his office desk and swivelled around in his office chair, apparently not wanting to see the phone anymore.

His secretary, Mr. Wang, continued his report “The board has rejected the proposal from his second master and lady aunt. They seem to be lobbying to pass it at the next meeting.”

Qin Zhiyou tilted his head back so it rested on the back of the chair with his eyes slightly shut. One of his hands, perched atop the arm rest, with his fingers rhythmically tapping up and down as he appeared to be deep in thought.

Mr. Wang’s phone had been vibrating all this while, but he dared not even glance at it, he continued reporting, “I’ve already had the sales report from last quarter compiled and emailed to you. As for the activity planning for the second half of this year, several schemes have been drafted by the planning department…”

Before he could even finish the word “review”, Qin Zhiyou suddenly opened his eyes and thoughtfully murmured, “Why would they be so short of money?”

There was no subject in his sentence, leaving Wang clueless as to who he was referring to.

Just as Secretary Wang was about to ask, Qin Zhiyou abruptly turned his chair around to pick up his phone, apparently wanting to send a message. However, his finger paused mid-air and didn’t land on the screen for quite a while.

Mr. Wang’s phone rang again and he dared not look. Qin Zhiyou kept his grip on his own phone, his eyes boring into the screen as though he could stare a hole into it. After a while, he asked nonchalantly, “Whose messages are you getting? If it’s one of our employees sending them, have him shipped off to the Africa division.”

Mr. Wang immediately unlocked his phone. After a glance, he seemed somewhat surprised, “It’s from Miss Liu Yiyi. She said she was slapped twice.” Qin Zhiyou feigned indifference, his spinning chair still swaying left and right.

If Liu Yiyi was slapped, then she was slapped. It was none of his business.

Mr. Wang quickly glanced at him, before answering in a low voice, “…She was slapped at Lulu Design Firm. According to her, the woman who slapped her had the surname ‘Lu’..”
