Chapter 392 - Meeting The Smiths!
Chapter 392 - Meeting The Smiths!
"What did you say!?"
At this point, Jennifer could feel her heart-shattering pieces. Despite all the attempts to cage her expressions of surprise, Jennifer's trembling body betrayed her.
Her father gave a stern stare when he repeated, "Tomorrow, we are all going to Lucas's place to meet his grandfather and mother.. it is necessary."
"ABSOLUTELY NO!"
Jennifer's yell made everyone present halt in their action. The evident veins on her forehead and hand were enough to make them believe that she is infuriated.
Not only that, Amelia was deadly conscious of whether to bring this conversation ahead or not. However, when she glanced at her husband, she knew that it is a matter of fact which needed to be fulfilled.
In the end, Amelia raised her hands and kept it on Jennifer's hand that was on the table. "Child… we know that it is difficult for you. But understand, we have given you enough time since you have returned."
"His family is simply interested to meet you once. There won't be any pressure over your head to go ahead for any ceremony." Amelia's sugar-coated talks didn't melt Jennifer's heart either
She was still persistent, and Jennifer's mood had already soured over time. She had kept the fork and spoon down where her burning gaze danced between her parents' faces.
"Lucas is not as sweet as you understand him to be. It has been just one day since I came back to my house… no..no.. not even a one day full." Sarcasticness was clearly dripping out of her words.
Her heart was on the edge of being ripped, as the shine never dimmed, "Do I need to make you both remember that… Lucas is the reason why we all were in this situation?"
"Jennifer…" Amelia's eyes started to fill with tears. Her nose had already turned red like that of a tomato when she had to lower her eyelids to not let the turmoil appear, "You are our only daughter… we don't want anything to happen to you.. you will be left alone if something happens to us…"
"Mother.. you are thinking too far away from now on…" Jennifer responded as she didn't even blink her eyes. "Nothing is happening to any of us. Also, where is the Emir?"
"Y-yeah.. I haven't seen Emir since we returned!" Hannah also answered when she saw that the talks were going in the direction which wasn't suited either.
There was no way to deny that her family was persistent and so was Jennifer. Either of them will have to take a step back, but maybe after careful consideration.
Beneath the table, Hannah kept her hand over Jennifer's thigh, giving her a meaningful glare. Understanding the same, Jennifer didn't let out any other word except to keep herself shut.
Meanwhile, Amelia realized that Emir wasn't home either. As her eyes flew towards the wall clock, an unsettled frown rested on her forehead, "Strange… nowadays, he is out for long.."
"Call him." That was all that David said before he took the piece of food into his mouth. As per his saying, Amelia stood and brought her phone out.
However, before she could have dialed the number, did they all hear the doorbell ringing. Not once, twice, but too many times, irritating everyone presents out there.
"Gosh… stop it!"Jennifer had to bring her hands near her ears to plug them with her fingers. It was creating annoyance in her mind.
At the same time, Amelia rushed towards the main door. Immediately, she unlocked it and found the drastic sight in front of her. "Emir…"
Her son was half lying on the ground with his other hand hanging over the doorbell continuously. His eyes were all lost, and the smell of alcohol was too strong to bear.
Subconsciously, Amelia bent on the floor where disbelief was clearly written on her face. "Emir… w-what.. happened to you?"
"Who did this to you!? Are you drunk!?" Amelia could hardly believe the tone of her own voice. Even her nerves were popping out with the worriedness that splashed.
When Emir didn't answer her, it grew her heart heavier with the plague. With the uneasiness tracing her heart, she yelled over, "DAVID! COME HERE!"
On her call, Davis also rushed to the door to find his son in an unconscious state. It enraged him, but on the second note, the care was much more evident when he bent down to touch his cheeks, "Emir… open your eyes.. son.."
"D-dad...m-mom…" Emir muttered in his breath with a freaking crazy smile over his lips.
"Y-you…guys.. are you still awake? Www….oldie…" Emir had already lost his state of exercising what is wrong and right.
The mind of his had already stopped working where he looked no less than a drunkard, having no idea about what he was saying either.
Since David and Amelia weren't interested in creating or putting out a scene for their neighbors, they swiftly brought Emir inside the house.
Jennifer's brother was drunk of all, but at the end of the day, he was still the heir of the Taylor family.
The moon of their eyes, how are they supposed to abandon him?
Yet, Jennifer's heart was grabbed with an icy cold layer as she could hear her parents too alarmed and worried for their dear son.
Till now, she had already taken the spoon in her hands to eat the rest of the dinner. But soon her plans were tampered with when she saw her parents taking her brother upstairs.
A frown settled on her forehead when she opened her mouth, "What happened to him? He is stinking!"
But her words were treated as thin air. No one even took a glance in her way, or answer her back. All Jennifer gazed at was to notice her parents were already overwhelmed with different emotions of panic.
'Lucas has actually fired at me in front of them...but they stood their ground..' her memory was still very much fresh regarding the events.
The brownish eyes of hers were omitting the aura of aloofness, comparable to ice. The grip tightened around the spoon as she thrust it into the plate.
Seeing her best friend reacting so furiously, made Hannah alert. Coming closer to her, Hannah whispered, "Jennifer… don't let your mask fall from your face.."
"Mask? I think not mine, but I can clearly see that someone else's real intentions are expressed too purely now…"
