Chapter 289 - Path

Zaos quickly wrote a reply to Tyra since she was a good friend. Not to mention, thanks to her, now he had eighty high-quality mana potions. Each of those could restore two hundred points of mana potion, and while it didn\'t seem much if compared with the total of his mana pool, it was. To recover that amount, Zaos would have to rely on focus alone for more than twenty hours, and if he uses Meditation, Zaos will have to wait for four hours to recover the same amount. Those potions really granted him the chance to save a lot of time.

"Fortunately, Tyra managed to make some progress making the potions stronger… because the smell and the taste still are as bad as I can remember," Zaos said after he tested one of those.

Zaos managed to sleep pretty well the next night since he already had a plan of sorts. When the next morning came, everyone was already gathered and ready to hear what Zaos had in mind for the next battle. Still, in the end… they couldn\'t do anything aside from frowning after what they heard what Zaos told them.

---- ----

After preparing for the invasion during the week, Luvon, Garrik, and Camus finally crossed the gates of Toules and led their armies toward the Western base. Their scouts had told them that the entire area until the first village was completely safe, so they only marched forward without caring about anything. However, they were forced to stop after passing the first village because Zaos\'s unit stood above a certain hill. All of them were on their horses, and they didn\'t assume any battle formation, so that was obviously too suspicious.

"It is a trap," Luvon said.

"No, they are waiting for us to greet us," Garrik said. "Of course, it is a trap, you shitty old man."

Luvon glared at Garrik, but he couldn\'t do much else in that situation. In any case, Camus also furrowed his eyebrows since he couldn\'t understand the meaning behind their actions.

"If you two are going to keep staring at them all day, I will kill them all myself," Garrik said and then gave the sign to his first unit to move forward.

Although he was itching for a fight, even Garrik wasn\'t stupid enough to charge toward the enemies like that. So, he just sent his first unit that also had five hundred men, and he was absolutely sure that they would crush the Bloody Knights. As the first unit approached, they saw a young warrior wearing black armor stepping forward alone. At the same time, his soldiers drew his bows in total unison. The enemies grew closer and closer, but they didn\'t fire a single arrow.

While the enemies were waiting for the arrows, Zaos suddenly jumped from his horse and then assumed the Tail guard, and then in the blink of an eye, he swung his sword. At that very moment, the mercenaries had grown close enough to make Zaos disappear, so the three commanders didn\'t have the chance to see what Zaos did… they only saw that the mercenaries suddenly spread to the sides suddenly. Soon after, the archers fired their arrows at them. Since they knew in which direction the targets we were going and since they were close enough, the first volley of arrows hit and killed many riders. For some reason, the mercenaries began to retreat… the first volley of arrows had been devastating, but that wasn\'t enough to make Garrik\'s men retreat like that.

However, the three commanders noticed something had happened when they saw several horses and riders split in half a few meters ahead of the young warrior in dark armor. Without wasting time, he returned to his horse and then left the area with his unit.

"What the hell happened there?" Garrik asked.

"Don\'t ask us. We are in a bad place to see what happened," Luvon replied.

"No, we weren\'t… he made us stop here because he knew we wouldn\'t be able to see what happened," Camus said. "The kill and the horses helped him hide his attack… call your men, Garrik."

"Don\'t give me orders," Garrik said.

"If you don\'t want to know what happened, then don\'t call them and shut the hell up," Camus glared at him.

In the end, Garrik obeyed and then called the members of his first unit. Apparently, he lost one hundred of his men in a single attack, and then the other one hundred got hit by arrows. As if that wasn\'t enough, the survivors looked pretty surprised.

"What the hell happened?" Garrik asked.

"Sir, we don\'t know… it just happened so fast," One of the mercenaries said. "We were about to attack him, but then he swung his sword, and then several of us got split in half with horses and everything."

"Explain how he did that," Garrik glared at the mercenary.

The mercenary stayed silent because he knew that if he said I don\'t know again, he would be split in half by Garrik\'s battle-ax. In the end, the three commanders approached the place where some of the mercenaries were killed by Zaos, and they confirmed that something really split them in half.

"I have heard that the heir of Sielders family combines magic and sword skills, but this is quite surprising," Camus said.

"Something is off. The reports of the previous battle said that he didn\'t use any magic. He just dashed toward Edwyrd\'s army like a mad dog and killed many of them," Luvon said.

"I would say that he did use magic, but the survivors didn\'t notice," Camus said.

"Hmm… it makes sense," Luvon nodded. "Even the best warriors can only do so much against cavalry by themselves."

"Humph! He is just a coward that hid behind magic tricks," Garrik said. "A true warrior would never rely on magic on the battlefield. I will crush his head with my bare hands once I get close enough."

"All right, you can do that, Garrik," Camus said. "You don\'t need our permission, but we will open the path for you to kill the heir of the Sielders family.. I am sure that you will want that achievement to yourself."
