Chapter 246

Bai Chen remembered how he had left the sword on the rock when he was very upset with Wu Jinhai. He didn’t want to think about Wu Jinhai anymore, and that was why he also wanted to sever ties with the sword he had received from the Eldest Prince of Wu Li when they first met in the Forbidden Forest during the Beast Hunting Event.

The sword did look like it was whimpering when Bai Chen was about to leave it, but it didn’t move from the top of the boulder, so Bai Chen thought that it would only obediently stay on the boulder, and he thought he wouldn’t meet the sword again.

However, when he suddenly saw how the sword was floating in the air not far from where he was standing. The sword once again looked like an innocent child who was bullied by a bad kid, and it looked like it was tilting its head when in reality, it was only tilting its hilt as it faced Bai Chen and Wu Jinhai.

“Why is that sword here?” Bai Chen asked Wu Jinhai, but his blue eyes remained fixed on the floating sword.

The sword indeed just floated there without wanting to get any closer to him and Wu Jinhai, and that was something else that caused Bai Chen to feel confused as the sword seemed to hesitate somehow.

Maybe Bai Chen got more stupid? How could he think that the sword was hesitating? It was just a weapon that didn’t have a mind and heart, so how could it hesitate?

“What kind of mother are you? Why did you leave your son in the middle of the forest?”

“...” Bai Chen looked away when he heard how Wu Jinhai questioned him back instead of answering.

.....

He hated it so much when Wu Jinhai said that she was the mother of the sword, but the man in red confidently said something that irritated him.

Perhaps it was true that he had left Wu Jiang in the middle of the forest, but the cause behind his irresponsible actions was how Wu Jinhai had the heart to lie to him all this time, and that was why Bai Chen refused to take the blame.

“I received the sword from someone who dared to lie to me and made me feel like a fool all this time, and I was afraid that the sword would hurt me too, and that’s why I decided to leave it in the forest,” Bai Chen didn’t want to admit defeat, and that was why he reprimanded the taller man.

But, he was taken aback when Wu Jinhai suddenly laughed after hearing his cold response. “It’s really my fault for hurting you, but I have to say that even if everyone in this world betrayed you, Wu Jiang would never betray you, Bai Chen,” the black-haired man said.

Perhaps Wu Jinhai sounded like he was joking, but Bai Chen felt there was something noteworthy about the man’s words, and that was why he immediately turned his head to look at the taller man standing behind him.

“What do you mean Wu Jiang will not betray me? Is it because it has recognized me as its master?” Somehow, Bai Chen thought that Wu Jinhai was acting mysteriously toward him once again, and that was why he quickly questioned the man in red.

Before Wu Jinhai suddenly spoke of Wu Jiang, Bai Chen had forgotten that he did have some questions related to the sword that he wanted to ask the man. He had always known that the sword was extraordinary, but he assumed that it was more mysterious after he heard Ma Qiao’s story about the white crystal on the hilt of the sword.

Before the sword became his, it belonged to Wu Jinhai, and that was why he planned to question the crow-haired man about the truth behind the white crystal on the sword.

He had indeed almost forgotten his plan, but fortunately, Wu Jinhai reminded him of his plan, and now he was waiting for the man to answer his question about the sword even though he had not mentioned the white crystal on the sword hilt.

“Just follow me to go somewhere, and I’ll tell you everything about this sword. You must be curious, right?” Wu Jinhai once again acted mysteriously, and Bai Chen frowned at the taller man.

Just a few minutes ago the man was quite cooperative as he was willing to answer any of his questions, but just now the man was acting arrogant once again when he tried to dodge his questions.

That kind of attitude was what Bai Chen hated the most from the taller man, and that was why he tried not to immediately punch the man in the face even if they were standing close together now.

Bai Chen tried to be patient as he considered what he should do next. He did want to know more about Wu Jiang, and Wu Jinhai was indeed the only one who could give him an answer. If not today, then he didn’t know when he would get the chance to find the answer to his question, and that was why he chose to relent.

“You promise to tell me everything I want to know?” The Werewolf Prince didn’t want to be fooled, and that was why he asked for a guarantee before he agreed to accept the man’s offer.

Without hesitation, Wu Jinhai nodded at the shorter man. “I promise,” he answered verbally. “You’ve given me a second chance, and that’s why I won’t try to hide anything from you anymore. Anything you want to know, I’ll tell you.”

A promise was easy to make and easy to break, and it did look easy when Wu Jinhai made a promise. So, would it be easy too for the man to break it?

Bai Chen didn’t know what the future would hold, but he had no other choice in this situation, and that was why he ended up nodding his head as a sign that he would follow Wu Jinhai’s wishes for now.
