Chapter 44
The red robes looked stunning under the glare of the sun, and the green ambiance around him gave an illusion that he was a red rose in the middle of a meadow.
But, he was not a red rose, and he was not enjoying the breeze that keep teasing his face. Instead, his dark eyes focused on the floating fried fish on the pond. The pond area was not too big, not too big to the point he couldn’t see the end of it. The surface was covered by aquatic plants, and the fish was floating along with the plants.
It was the fish that he threw earlier, but he didn’t have any intention of grabbing it from the pond and saving it from the dirty water. Instead, he smirked as he continued staring at the pond.
“Interesting,” he murmured. “There’s a traitor in this palace, and the method to betray the Prince is very interesting.”
He was alone in the garden pavilion after the Prince left him, but he didn’t immediately leave the pavilion. Instead, he was leaning his body on one of the pillars as he crossed his strong arms in front of his chest.
The Prince did leave him, and that was not after the brunette scolded him harshly.
[“Are you blind?”
That was the question that came from the Prince after he urged the white-robed man to leave the garden pavilion and return to Jing Pavilion.
.....
No, he was not blind. He could see everything well. He could see how the Prince’s brown hair danced with the wind, he could see how his long eyelashes fluttered at the temptation of the moving air, and he could also see his thin lips pursed slightly as the owner tried to make the angriest face he could.
But, he indeed wasn’t blind, and he knew that the Prince couldn’t put on an angry face well. On the other hand, the Prince looked like a child who looked adorable when he was angry.
“You know that werewolves have a big appetite, and you can also see that I only ate so little just now, right?” Prince Bai Chen asked again after getting no response from him. “Even if you’ve thrown away my favorite fish, you shouldn’t expect me to leave just because of that. There’s still meat here, and I’ll finish it all before returning to Jing Pavilion.”
And the next thing he could see was the sight of the Prince continuing to eat regardless of his presence in the garden pavilion, and he could only smirk at the clueless Prince.]
That was the situation in the garden pavilion before Prince Bai Chen left with a big belly. That Prince even burped loudly after finishing all the meals prepared by the palace cook, and he couldn’t help but laugh when he saw how the Prince did look like a baby.
“He’s just a baby wolf,” whispered the man in red when it was only him in the garden pavilion. “Neither his fangs nor claws are sharp enough, and even his senses fail to detect any danger in his surroundings.”
Something filled his mind, and with his pair of dark eyes still focused on the floating fish in the pond, Zhu Ge’s thoughts drifted to the time he strolled around this palace today.
[Zhu Ge just finished bathing, and luckily, his red robe that was soaked last night was already dry this morning. His sleeves were still a little cold, but he lazily patted them in hopes that each clap would lessen the chill. At least, the red robes were still more comfortable on his body than the dirty white robes the Prince had given him.
It was a pity that the pure white robe ended up getting dirty and dusty everywhere, but he knew that it wasn’t his fault. Rather, it was the servant’s fault.
The prince and his personal servant had left this palace before he went to the bathroom to have a nice bath. The prince informed him that he was going to Rongyao Imperial Palace, and he just shrugged because he didn’t think that the information was important to him.
He could see the annoying servant pursing his lips at him before he started walking after the Prince, and he couldn’t help but smirk at the older man. The old man dared to bother him last night, but he managed to get his revenge by making the man kneeling in front of him this morning.
It wasn’t his first time in the palace, but he didn’t know anyone other than the Werewolf Prince. Now that the Prince had left the palace, he was trying to do something to make himself less bored in this quiet palace. Therefore, he decided to take a walk around the palace to spend his free time.
“There is nothing special about this palace. No wonder the Prince is always looking for pleasure from outside the palace,” he muttered as he continued walking.
He walked past several palace maids, and he could see that the girls were trying to peek at him. Those with eyes would agree that he had a very handsome face, and receiving such hungry stares from girls was nothing new to him.
Hence, he ignored those ravenous gazes as he continued walking until he arrived near the palace kitchen. He could see the two maids chatting, and since something from their conversation caught his attention, he then chose to hide behind a large pillar and listen to the chatter.
“You’re new here, so you definitely don’t know our Prince’s mischievous behavior.”
The girl who had just spoken was slightly taller than the other girl. She had long black hair that reached her hips, and her body was slender but thick in some parts.
‘Girls like that will sell well in brothels,’ Zhu Ge smirked as the thought suddenly appeared in his mind.
“Oh? I heard some rumors about the Prince, but I don’t believe that the rumors are true.”
Another girl answered the previous statement that came from the taller girl. She was indeed shorter than the girl who seemed to be the senior maid in the palace. Her skin was a little darker, and her hair was light brown.
“What kind of rumors have you heard about the Prince? Is it about the Prince who is so passionate about sex and always brings home lots of hares to this palace?” The taller girl asked again, and the other girl nodded at her.
“It’s something like that,” the shorter girl answered. “I heard that he is gay, and he never slept alone in his pavilion at night because a man always accompanied him in his bed. However, many people believe that they were not just sleeping, so what is the Prince’s activity at night?”
Zhu Ge was still quietly listening to the conversation, and he wasn’t sure whether the maid who had just spoken was naive or simply just too stupid. He mocked her in his heart, but then his ears twitched when he heard the other maid speak again.
“Actually, it’s not only at night that the Prince let his chrysanthemum be stabbed with countless sticks. In fact, I’ve seen the Prince do that in broad daylight without closing the front door of Jing Pavilion. He’s crazy, isn’t he?”]
Zhu Ge knew all the rumors about Prince Bai Chen. In both the werewolf empire and the human empire, people knew that Prince Bai Chen was not an ordinary person in the Red Pavilion. Everyone knew what kind of place the pavilion was, so it was no secret that Prince Bai Chen was gay and liked to play with male prostitutes.
Zhu Ge knew all of that, but he didn’t expect that the Prince would be someone who couldn’t control his lust in front of these palace servants. Doing something like that in broad daylight without closing the door? Did the Prince want to announce to the world that he was gay and dirty?
Zhu Ge thought that such a thing was impossible because Bai Chen who was with him since yesterday was quite calm and had good self-control. They did do something last night, but it was far from what he had imagined of a Prince who only had thoughts of having sex in his head.
But today Zhu Ge found the answer to his curiosity, and he knew that he had misjudged the Werewolf Prince named Bai Chen.
“It’s more interesting than I expected, and I wish I could stay longer in this palace. Too bad I have to leave this palace tomorrow,” the red-robed man mumbled as he turned around and looked at the back of Jing Pavilion, and a small smirk appeared dangerously on his handsome face. “I think I can find more reasons so I can stay in this palace longer. I will eat melon seeds and enjoy the show here.”
