Chapter 191
“To survive this war we need Sol! To win this time we need the true death mage!’ Demos growled and Damon snorted disdainfully.
“Have there ever been a battle I lost?” Damon asked and the room fell silent.
“Has there been a war I lost?” Damon asked.
“Have I failed you even once?” Damon asked again.
Even when the world gathered to take my life when I was still in the warrior realm I survived! Can you compare Sol to me?!” Damon growled as his eyes let out a fierce red light, tightening their grip on the death mage.
“I have fought and died for your goals. Never again” Damon muttered those words while gazing at Demos with a disappointed look in his eyes. Amongst all those who he considered allies since the beginning of this war Demos was the one he trusted the most.
Or at least, he wanted to trust someone who he has given no reason to betray him.
“This is only a fragment of your consciousness sealed in my mind and I’m very much aware of that. But I will say this to you and the angel of death” Damon turned his attention to Sol.
.....
“If you dare appear in my presence again in a more physical form, I won’t hesitate to take your life and prove that Damon Ross is inferior to no one,” Damon said with a cruel look in his eyes.
Flap!
The dark world vanished from his eyes and he returned to the normal world. Damon sat up with everyone around him gazing at him strangely, partially unwilling to approach.
“Master?” Blink muttered as he slowly approached.
“It’s me” Damon answered casually while checking out his hair. The pitch-black hair with a green streak was already flashy but then having such hair, so long that it can reach one’s waist was something else.
His eyes shifted to Cyrus, Elsa, and Gin who stood together and he raised an eyebrow as if he questioning them.
“No, thank you?” Gin asked.
“If I have to thank someone, it would be Cyrus and Elsa, not someone who nearly reduced me to minced meat” Damon chuckled and everyone laughed at the joke.
.........
Damon sat with a stern look on his face. His eyes were like daggers, piercing into Blink as if it was searching for his soul.
“I don’t think we have time for this... we should be planning how to deal with the invaders and also look for a way to make sure you don’t lose your body to that imposter.” Blink said timidly but Damon didn’t respond to his words.
“Since when have you cared so much about things like that when you keep things from me? I left here thinking my student was a cub only to realize he is a dragon, if not worse” Damon said with a stern look.
“Unlike you, I have the immortal body and even then, I still lost my life, you are no exception” Damon added causing Blink to look up.
He got to his feet and began walking towards his kneeling student with a calm smile on his face.
“I am really proud to know you are this powerful at a young age. Far stronger than I was when I was your age. What I have to say now is rather simple, know your limits. Don’t fight everyone in the name of protecting my name. Let me protect my name, myself. The world can crumble, and burn. I won’t be moved. But having it in the back of my mind that you may be in trouble is more than enough reason for me to fret” Damon explained as he placed his hand on the shoulder of his student, with a rare smile on his face.
His eyes turned to the others in the room and a cruel smile bloomed on his face.
“This is only the first batch of invaders. If you ask me, attacking them would be the dumbest thing to do. They can always go on the defensive and decide to fight out long enough for the rest of their forces to arrive” Damon explained.
“True, invading is far more difficult than we think. They have already built a stronghold while we were away. I’m pretty sure they can defend properly if their main forces gather. So what do you think we should do then?” Gin asked with a strange look in his eyes.
His face twisted and turned as he shifted his gaze to the figures not too far from his location. It was Klien and Lucy and under his gaze, these two couldn’t help but shiver.
His may not seem like much but Damon had actually changed. His hair was longer, each eye had three pupils per eye plus his body exuded a divine aura. It seemed like he didn’t belong to this world but it’s expected since it is said the angel realm is the bridge between the mortal realm and that of the gods. Once one enters the demigod realm,
“We attack the continent’s greatest forces and take them for ourselves” Damon said casually and everyone was stunned.
“In my opinion, in this chaotic era, that’s when a god is needed. That’s when people pray the most. It’s at a time like this that the world needs a hero. We can become those heroes” Damon said with a cruel smile as he returned to his throne and crossed his legs gently.
“You...” Elsa’s eyes widened in shock as she and the rest of the people in the room soon understood his intentions.
“A misconception has been created against the hosts. We are the worst in the eyes of the average person, so what happens when they realize everything they have known all this while is a lie and we are actually the ones who can keep them safe? When they see the power of the hosts and their forces, they will naturally come running to us” Damon added with a sinister smile.
“The hearts of men are created to be manipulated. The concept between good and evil is nonexistent” Gin muttered as if he was trying to tell himself they weren’t doing wrong.
“We will save lives. Far more lives than these four kingdoms can save. It’s the outcome that matters the most, not the method” Damon said to add to Gin’s words.
Buzzz!
The room fell silent as they began pondering on Damon’s words. This was something unexpected and they needed time to think about it.
“Take your time to think.... I need some time to deal with my personal issues. I will be secluded for a month or so to stabilize my power.... During that time I leave the safety of my successor, the rest of you should assist him to the best of your abilities” Damon said calmly as he shot Blink an approving smile.
He turned to leave only to see four figures kneeling and blocking his path.
“When Sol asked for our help, we entertained thoughts of joining him. Punish us, and we will accept whatever you think is appropriate” Cassius said and the other true bloods lowered their heads to show they agree with this.
Seeing this, Damon snorted disdainfully and waved his hand sleeves, walking past them with his hands cupped.
“If you wish to redeem yourselves and regain my trust, dedicate your lives to serving my successor.... Since your allegiance is with the death mage, let’s change it to someone who doesn’t bear the title. That way you won’t be left confused again” Damon said while his figure slowly vanished into the distance and his words were only echoes.
.............
Damon returns to his room and locked the doors. His eyes showed signs of worry as a piercing headache invaded his mind. He could feel an arm hold onto his face as if it was trying to pull it out and reveal a new face.
“Hmph! Do you still struggle to take over what doesn’t belong to you? Cute” Damon snorted disdainfully as the image of Sol appeared in his mind.
With the combined strength of the new god and the angel of death, even if the body belongs to Damon and he has hundred percent control over his actions he still found it hard to resist them.
It’s only a matter of time before he gets overwhelmed!
“You plan to go against the heavens? Unless you don’t plan to improve your strength then you are safe for a while but as long as you get stronger and integrate with the death magic to a more profound level, you will eventually become me. Your fate and that of your friends are sealed. You are only delaying the inevitable” Sol’s voice boomed in his mind.
Hearing these words even Damon couldn’t help but feel anxious.
