Chapter 157
Some claim he is stronger than the son of heaven but outside the fact that he is a normal human with no backing yet, he could make it to the spirit realm at a young age since he is somewhere near his mid-twenties, they haven’t seen anything else that makes him worthy of praise.
“For a mere human with no backing, you have a big mouth,” Fei said coldly as he gazed at the young figure dressed in bright red robes.
The smile on the youth’s face while his robe and hair fluttered in the wind was irritating to the host of destruction but he didn’t dare make a move since three cosmic spirit hosts were present.
“Let’s gamble on something,” Gerald said with the same smile on his face.
Hearing his words the anger in the eyes of Fei and Raizen vanished and it was replaced with sheer enthusiasm and an unexplained urge to play the game.
“Ha! Do you think Fei is afraid of anything? Tell me your offer, quickly!” Fei moved forward without fear and Gerald revealed a charming, yet innocent smile.
“Good.” Gerald said as he slowly pulled out an hourglass but smaller. His actions intrigued everyone as they gazed at the hourglass intently while wondering why he chose to bring it out.
“It goes this way. If the two great hosts of destruction and storm can kill me before time runs out then it’s your win. But if I can hold on to dear life until the time elapses, then you will help me do one thing!” Gerald said with a cruel smile.
.....
His words resounded across the place and everyone was stunned.
With that said, Gerald casually gestured at the three star alliance sect to retreat a bit with a confident look on his face. He stood with a strange look on his face while his robe fluttered violently.
“Very well...” Raizen Stormborn said as lighting could be seen surging in his eyes.
Boom!
Suddenly a powerful shockwave erupted but it wasn’t aimed at Gerald but at those standing beside him who was yet to move away.
The trio was blown back meanwhile Gerald casually played with the hourglass a bit before tossing it into the sky. Strangely the hourglass vanished into the wind and reappeared on the clouds but this time as a massive hourglass.
“Begin” Gerald ordered casually as the hourglass resets itself and the new time began counting and the grains of sand began pouring into the lower chamber.
Bang!
Fei exploded in fierce thick flames as his body surged towards Gerald like a rocket while his fist even flew faster than his body.
Hmph!
Gerald casually sidestepped and evaded the attack almost effortlessly. Seeing this even Raizen Stormborn was shocked. He watched Fei skid across the ground while digging his fingers into the ground just to stop his movement. He knew how fast Fei had moved during the attack, even the strongest spirit realm masters will struggle to evade that attack.
“Good! Good! This won’t be boring! Show me what you can do, human!” Raizen growled with a vicious smile on his face as lightning surged across his body.
Xiu!
A blue bolt of lightning surged towards Gerald, reaching him almost instantly but even then Gerald leaned to the side to dodge leaving everyone stunned.
Bang!
Raizen Stormborn returned to his normal form the moment he reached Gerald and punched forward without hesitation but Gerald had already dodged
Pa!
While he was still shocked by the fact that someone Could keep up with him, the strongest being alive, Gerald grabbed onto his hand and pulled him in. His free hand transformed into a talon and quickly clawed its way toward Raizen’s waist!
“You!” Raizen was infuriated and his eyes turned Gray as fierce wind exploded between them, surging so fiercely even the ground they stood on shattered and began to sink but even then Gerald wasn’t blown away, and neither did the smile on his face fade.
His talon attack met a fierce wind wall but there was no fear in his eyes. He could sense danger and he quickly turned sideways and threw his hand open.
Boom!
An invisible force escaped his hand as he held onto the massive ball of fire thrown at him by Fei while simultaneously battling against the wind trying to blow him away like some sort of rag.
“Hmph! If this is the best you two can do then I might as well kill you off here before the death mage does it!” Gerald snorted disdainfully as his body was engulfed in dazzling flames.
Boom!
It felt like the world would shatter as he shot into the air and slowly his body was completely covered by the flames, taking the shape of a fierce Phoenix, spreading its wings really high in the sky.
Cawwww!
The Phoenix cries out as its fierce gaze fell on the duo below and its eyes were filled with contempt and disdain.
Brrrr!
Without any warning, the mighty Phoenix began descending with its full might!
Booom!
The moment it hit the ground a fierce wave of flames surged across the battlefield, sending even the three star alliance members skidding back as they gathered their strength to resist. The same happened with Fei and Raizen whose techniques were shattered and broken. The duo was forced to retreat but they made no attempts to defend themselves.
Even after taking a direct hit from Gerald’s attack they didn’t even have a scratch on them.
“The Draconian race are known for their impeccable defense... that’s nice, it makes things much more interesting!” Gerald chuckled as his eye revealed a bright orange flash and his aura exploded violently.
Even when surrounded by two powerful enemies, he showed no fear
.......................
Back at the blood mountain, Damon and his team were oblivious to the fighting currently taking place somewhere on the continent. They were busy packing things for their trip and while that was going on, Damon decided to spend some time with Blink before he left.
His eye was pinned on the kid who sat across him with his hands wrapped around his chest and a cute frown on his face. Seeing this, Damon didn’t know whether to cry or laugh.
“Take me with you,” Blink said.
“Nope,” Damon yawned causally.
“Why?” Blink asked with his cute eyes open really wide.
“Because you are grounded for a century after the last stunt you pulled off” Damon snorted coldly as he said those words and Blink avoided his frosty gaze.
His interference in the war may have saved lives but it still managed to piss Damon off. What if his defect acted up at the last moment when he tried to save Cyrus? Doesn’t that mean Damon would lose two important people at once?
” I can’t even live up to a century with my current lifespan and cultivation base. How is this fair?” Blink protested but Damon chuckled in response.
“Hehehe! Exactly. That way this old man can protect you all your life. You should be grateful. A lot of people would die for such privilege and yet you act like it’s nothing” Damon said with a raised eyebrow.
“Because it’s not what I want!” Blink cried out.
Buzzz!
Damon sighed at the kid’s words. He was still young and impulsive, completely different from Damon when he was his age. But that was what Damon likes about the kid. Somehow the kind reminded him of himself when he was younger but also showed him what he could have been like if he had someone that loved him by his side.
“So tell me, what does the great Blink of the blood mountain want?” Damon asked with a slight frown.
“I want power. I want to be strong enough to protect master and fight by his side” Blink said without hesitation. These words were spoken casually but to Damon, they meant the world.
How many people have openly claimed they want to protect him?
How many people have claimed they wish to look after him and fight by his side?
This reminded him of his old family, the ones murdered by the nobles of the Gyro Kingdom. When he went to the underworld, he searched for them and when he couldn’t find them, Demos appeared and informed him that they have reincarnated.
Demos told him to let go of the past and his involvement in their lives if he should ever find them will lead to a bad fate befalling them. His existence alone puts everyone around him at risk.
