Chapter 99
“After ten years I have finally returned!” Duke Hail breathed in deeply while speaking.
Damon ignored everyone and everything around him and focused his eyes on the mountain ahead. He could see the massive mountain bathed in blood, surrounded by dark clouds with strong bolts of lightning.
All he could smell from that direction was death and destruction!
“Don’t forget, no matter what happens you need to remain hidden throughout the talking phase. Even though we are working together now, we are still enemies. We can’t go around showing all our young talents to the enemies” Tristan said to Damon as he rode over on his massive silver wolf.
“Should I hide as well with him?” Jean asked, drawing the attention of Michael’s disdainful glare before a cruel response.
“Hmph! Even if you jump around waving, I doubt anyone will take interest in a human realm werewolf!” Tristan responded and Jean blushed hard.
While they were having their little squabble, Damon ignored them and pondered on the forces he had at hand. Taking control of fifty thousand out of the two hundred thousand forces here is no small responsibility. Amongst his forces, only around twenty thousand were Calvary. About ten to fifteen thousand were infantry while the remaining fifteen were archers. In a way, his forces seemed to be balanced but against a mighty number of a million vampires, even Damon couldn’t help but feel a bit unsure of himself.
Thinking about this, Damon couldn’t help but ponder on his true goal. He hasn’t had the chance to communicate his intentions to Cyrus, Klien, and Gin. Neither has he thought of a way to get the blood clan to join him.
.....
“This won’t be as easy as it seems...” Damon muttered.
“Look! A fresh wave of enemy attacks is incoming!” A scout suddenly screamed, catching Damon’s attention.
According to the little they were told on their way here. It is that the vampire forces kept attacking constantly, slowly shaving away the numbers of their enemy. With each enemy killed, their number increases so they have nothing to fear!
“All troops assume the offensive position. Infantry behind, archers prepare to make your move! Calvary ready!”
Almost instantly, strings of orders rang across the battlefield and Damon’s troops began moving without hesitation. Damon’s cold gaze was pinned on the army running down the massive mountain with a blood red festering aura flowing around them!
Rumble!
Rumble!
Rumble!
The ground began to tremble as the enemy forces got closer, making Damon frown. The speed and power of this Calvary charge were no joke! The enemy forces are probably one filled with only warrior realm experts at the very least. Unfortunately for them, Damon also possessed such a powerful force. The divine martial army of the royal palace was only inferior to the royal knights of the palace.
Damon sat behind the formation and watched as the massive army moved in response to his commands. His eyes were pinned on the incoming forces from afar and after what seemed like a long silence, Damon finally let out another order!
“Fire!”
Xiu!
Xiu!
Xiu!
Numerous bowstring sounds rang across the clouds as arrows flew into the air, covering the entire sky without hesitation. Behind the rain of arrows were massive flaming balls racing into the sky without fear while charging toward the enemy forces!
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
The small vampire army trembled as they were bombarded by ranged attacks. Such attacks could not kill them instantly but they could put a serious hole in their formation! With the enemy disorganized, Damon’s horse rode up to the front lines with fierce killing intentions visible in his eyes.
Be it killing the enemy or having the enemy kill his own forces, the person who will reap the greatest benefit from this war is him so he had no reason to be shy about it.
“Let’s show them, the power of Gyro’s Divine martial army! Do not let even a single one of them escape!” Damon growled before racing towards the disorganized enemy forces!
“Follow the general!”
“Charge!!!!”
Ferocious cries filled the skies as a large army of twenty thousand Calvarymen cried out as they chased after Damon. The earth trembled and the skies shook under their crazed cries. Everyone watched their furious charge in awe while acknowledging the youth leading the charge from a distance.
“Bastard, I told him to keep a low profile just a moment ago!” Tristan Hail said with a frown.
“Chill... sooner or later he will be discovered by the enemy. I believe it’s best he shows the enemy that he is no pushover. Let him show our allies too that the forces of Gyro Kingdom are not as weak as the rumors make them out to be” Duke Hail didn’t seem bothered by Damon’s abrupt decision to fight, instead he was in complete support of it!
His gaze fell on Damon who was in the front lines charging like a crazed man with fierce anger issues. As his forces rode forward, they gathered momentum, and slowly a darkish purple halo began spreading around them.
Roar!
An inhuman cry could be heard from the charging divine martial forces as every soldier on their side was covered in the fiercer darkish purple aura. In fact, in the center of the formation was Damon whose body was covered in veins while blood rolled down his cheeks and nostrils. He knew the backlash of using a was halo would be strong but he didn’t expect it to be this strong!
Lone Halo!
Rumble!
Rumble!
Damon and his force were engulfed by his darkish purple aura while he exploded forward!
Swoosh!
Damon sat on his war steed as he fearlessly faced an army ahead of him. His eyes revealed a bright flash as his hands reached for the blade hanging on his back!
Kill!
Boom!
Following a fierce silver flash, an explosion erupted as Damon could be seen wielding a greatsword in his hands.
Bang!
He shot off his war steed and charged into the disoriented enemy forces like a purple cyclone, crashing into them!
Bang!
A large number of people were blown away by the enemy forces and at the center of the enemy encirclement was the youth in a darkish purple aura and a greatsword in his hands. Watching him from afar, even Cyrus and the other members of his team were stunned. The current Damon was far more terrifying than they could remember. Right now, it felt like he is always on his death magic mode, where he is stripped of all emotions.
Boom!
Damon’s Calvary smashed into the disoriented enemy forces and crushed everything in their path as they raced forward. The enemy forces were too busy trying to defend against their foes that they could barely focus on the lone shadow, lurking around while decapitating foes!
Retreat!
Without hesitation, the vampires sounded a cry of retreat and began to flee. At this rate, they were going to lose far more forces than their enemies. The strength of the young general far surpassed their expectations!
“They are running, shall we pursue?” Katherine asked Damon with an excited look on her face.
This was her first battle outside the kingdom and even though she was placed under Damon, she was also given a chance to prove herself. Seeing the fleeing enemy, she felt her blood boil and had the urge to jump over and pursue them to the ends of the earth but Damon had other plans.
“Don’t bother with any of that... Have our forces withdraw... check our losses before that of our enemies and bring the report over as soon as possible!” Damon said firmly and Katherine instinctively nodded in response.
In this battle that happened right now, he had a rough understanding of how many losses they suffered since he absorbed the souls of the dead on the battlefield. Unfortunately, his power as a mage wasn’t rising as fast as his strength as a werewolf. He killed far more vampires than they lost on their side. Right now Damon wasn’t sure whether he should be happy or frustrated. The entire situation was only getting far more complicated than it use to be.
‘You are bothered with something that shouldn’t bother you right now. You wish to save the blood clan and make them your primary force but you don’t know how. You also wish to win this battle for the Gyro Kingdom and serve them a bit longer, that way you can benefit more from them. Don’t you think you are rushing things a bit too much? I suggest you let things happen as they should. You will know what next to do when the time comes’ Death’s voice echoed in Damon’s head causing him to frown. It looked like he originally planned to complain but after giving the matter some thought, he changed his mind.
