Chapter 284
The hell cat stood between her and Alex as if he was protecting some gem.
“Alex!” Sharyn was frustrated.
It turned out this was just one of the two factions ruling this world. According to Emperor Qikath, the other faction consisted of a smaller number of people but they had the support of the ancient sea beasts of this world and the leader of the faction had the scepter of Destiny in his hands, making him literally the most powerful being on this planet.
The scepter of Destiny is probably the most powerful divine tool in their possession, increasing their control over this sea to unexplainable levels.
During his coronation day as emperor, his elder brother was enraged by the decision of the old emperor to make his younger brother the new emperor so he took the scepter of Destiny and fled. With its power, he is also able to control all sea creatures present.
Only the emperor can resist the strength of the scepter due to his overwhelming talent.
“I never said I’m going over there to kill someone right away. I’m only saying I can go over and have a nice chat with the old prince...maybe we can come to an agreement” Alex chuckled lightly with his eyes still shut tight.
Seeing his nonchalant attitude towards this matter, Sharyn was enraged. It felt like she was talking to a piece of rock who paid no attention to her in any way.
.....
“You know your issues... You know you haven’t fully recovered, don’t you think it’s best to avoid this? If not for yourself, think about us and the envoys. What if the emperor tried to do something to us while you were gone to confront the enemy? Would you be able to live with the guilt?” Sharyn softened her voice and sat on the bed.
Only seeing that she had calmed down did the hell cat back away but its vigilant eyes were still placed on her.
Even the hell cat was well aware of how unstable women can be, especially powerful ones.
“We both know these are not the questions you really want to ask. We both know those things are not the reason why you don’t want me to go” Alex slowly opened his eyes before looking at Sharyn with a meaningful look in his eyes.
Sharyn shivered and planned to leave the bed but Alex grabbed her by her hand and sighed.
Women always knew how to complicate things.
“Next time, you don’t have to steal the kiss. Just ask okay?” Alex said, turning the beautiful face of the deity race lady red as she blushed.
Alex quickly let go of her as soon as he was done saying this and laid down on his back again. His eyes remained empty, void of any emotion as he pondered on what to do next. In reality, he only spoke their words to make Sharyn too embarrassed to bother him.
He didn’t really mind her nagging since he knew she was worried about his safety but in the end, if he always played it safe he wouldn’t have gotten this far.
Only someone ready to put their life on the line will reap the best rewards.
Alex shut his eyes slowly as he pondered on Emperor Qikath’s words. In this mission, he would be given a seahorse which would lead him to the enemy. His task was to compel the old prince to hand over the scepter of Destiny or die.
Why couldn’t the Emperor come?
An emperor cannot leave his kingdom unprotected.
“This will be difficult” Alex muttered in a low tone but Sharyn heard this and lunged at him without hesitation.
Alex was caught off guard and before he could react Sharyn was already sitting on his belly.
“You know it’s going to be hard, so why go in the first place? Are you trying to get yourself killed?” Sharyn said with fierce eyes and her mid-sized bosoms heaving up and down.
Alex sighed softly while gazing at the gorgeous lady sitting on him while wondering if she was so annoyed that she is yet to notice how weird her actions are or maybe she was doing this on purpose and using this as an excuse to get close to him.
“Do you love me? Do you want me?” Alex asked with a straight face causing Sharyn to blush.
She soon realized the awkward position and tried to stand but she realized she couldn’t move. An invisible force prevented her from moving. Her eyes shifted to Alex’s eyes that were pitch black while gazing at her strangely.
She didn’t know how to respond to his question but Damon wouldn’t even let her look away.
“You know... My ex never complained. She never nagged me hard. She just trusted me and let me push myself to the limit and beyond. If I had met you first during my early stages. With all of this, I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have been able to achieve this much” Alex said in a calm tone but his words were like thorns, piercing Sharyn’s heart.
Not only did Alex compare her to his ex but he also claimed that his ex was more capable than she is in an indirect way. Her eyes shook as it looked like tears were gathering but Alex’s face was still as cold as stone.
“I don’t need someone who will hold me back... All I need now is someone who will tell me I can do it. Who will give me the strength to keep pushing even when I’m weak not someone who will ask me to rest.... If you can’t give me these things, then don’t bother expressing your emotions to me” Alex said coldly as the darkness in his eyes surged violently, sending chills down Sharyn’s spine.
