Chapter 281
“Would a slave question her master or block her master’s path?” Alex asked with a raised eyebrow.
Hearing this her eyes twitched as she realized the mistake she had made and quickly wanted to back away but Alex caught her by her shoulders.
“You are not my slave... You are my partner and the person who will show me how to improve my sun deity technique to the highest level... only then can I become a supreme being which no one can challenge” Alex said with a calm smile before letting go of her and walking towards the bathroom.
“But why didn’t you tell them I want your wife... The envoys are currently confused and they look at me strangely... if we don’t clear it up soon, this misunderstanding will be blown to a whole new level” Sharyn argued.
“Don’t you want to be my queen?” Alex asked and instantly she froze.
Her cheeks turned red and her eyes shaky.
“Do you really hate it when people think of you as my wife? Am I so despicable that you don’t want to have anything to do with me?” Alex asked again.
“I... no... but” Sharyn was at a loss of words and Alex just laughed it off without hesitation.
.....
“Chill... you don’t have to worry about anything... I need to use the restroom” Alex said casually before walking into the restroom.
As soon as he entered the room, the air of invincibility vanished and he dragged himself over to the sink.
Blegh!
Alex coughed up a mouth full of blood as his body felt weak all over. The longer he fought the more his hidden injuries hurt badly. Truly, the side effects of his suicidal move are far beyond what he expected but he dared not reveal it to anyone.
Not even his brother, nor his supposed best friend!
His eyes felt heavy and his body but he couldn’t show weakness. All it takes is one moment of weakness and it’s all over for him.
His eyes moved to the mirror on the wall and he saw Sharyn standing at the door, gazing at him with her eyes wide open.
“How did you know?” Alex asked with a weak voice and a grin, revealing his teeth stained by his golden blood.
“Those from the Deity race never use the restroom... Our body is designed to make use of a hundred percent of whatever resources gathered to improve our looks and strength, you shouldn’t be any different... so it was strange when you said you needed to use the restroom” Sharyn said with a worried look on her face.
Apart from Alex’s close brush with death, she has never seen him in this condition. She had believed his matter absorption would be able to heal all injuries he sustained from such a suicidal attack but it seems her guess was wrong.
Meow!
The hell cat tiptoed into the room while gazing at Alex with worried eyes. Seeing this Alex could only smile bitterly and pull himself up before staggering forward.
He fell on a knee in front of the hell cat and opened his arms up as a sign for it to approach.
Meow!
The hell cat jumped into his hands and rubbed its body all over Alex.
“Don’t worry about me, as long as I don’t overexert myself or battle for too long, there shouldn’t be any problem. With Emperor Qikath willing to submit, we shouldn’t be worried about any more major fights. Even if there is one, I have this little beast to deal with all of them” Alex said weakly as his breath grew heavy.
“But...” Sharyn wanted to speak but Alex waved his hand and stopped her.
He dropped the hell cat and walked over to her, leaning forward as his breath brushed against her face.
“You wanted to know why I had them put us in the same room? This is it. I’m weak now and for the next few hours while I sleep I need someone strong, capable, and trustworthy to look after me. You and the Hell cat will have to make sure no one gets to me when I rest and while I’m awake I will make sure not even god lays a finger on you... I’m trusting you with my life” Alex said calmly before he walked past her.
As soon as he reached the bed, he fell on it and immediately lost consciousness.
In an instant, Alex slept off but not only that, if one paid attention one would notice the slight change in the flow of the energy. Everything kept slowly surging into his body, it was to alleviate his pain and suppress the hidden injuries.
After all of this Sharyn was confused about everything. It all just happened too suddenly so she barely knew how to react to this. She walked over to the bed and pulled out the blanket, covering Alex’s body.
Her eyes were pinned on him for a short while and a bitter smile appeared on her face.
“Stupid human, who wouldn’t want to be the wife of someone as amazing as you... I just don’t want to bear a title I may never get to carry all my life. I don’t want to believe you think more of me when I may just be another tool in your eyes” Sharyn said slowly as she tucked Alex in.
Her eyes remained pinned on him for a while before she continued speaking.
“You know, you owe me for this little prank of yours. I will be taking what you owe with this...” Sharyn said shyly before locking lips with the unconscious Alex.
At one corner of the room was the hell cat gazing at her with its mouth wide open with shock.
[A/N: I wish you guys could imagine the expression on the cat’s face. I can’t stop laughing. Lol]
