Chapter 65

“Risk is an important part of life... If Alex didn’t stay back and fight the mutant bat, even when he knew the risks, he won’t have a powerful beast gear now” Silver said.

“This is different Tracy argued with a frown on her face.

While the other three kept arguing Ale remained silent and shot his phone a glance. He had received a message from Wilder with specific instructions.

‘Don’t go after the Tyrant gang’

His eyes left the phone screen and returned to the window. He watched the sun set in silence as he considered what move to make next. Going against the Tyrant gang is no different from wishing for death. They will survive for a while after making the first move is simply the Tyrant gang showing its respect to the big four. If Alex and Silver should push them further, they will most likely be killed but if they find a way to survive, the Big four will definitely turn their fangs on the group that dares harm their youngest prodigies.

Even though Wilder has asked him not to make a move. When the time comes, even Wilder will be dragged into this war. The problem now is that Alex is too weak to make a noticeable impact. Unless he uses his gravity powers and matter absorption ability, he is D rated at best. His martial technique can only allow him to barely compete with a C-rated powerless human.

Huff!

“We should put the plan on hold for now... But when the opportunity pops up, I don’t intend to back down!” Alex said coldly.

.....

“I will leave the job picks to you... Please be nice” Alex said to Silver before walking upstairs.

Silver, Tracy, and Jason just watched him walk away with confused looks on their faces.

“What’s his problem?” Jason asked.

“I believe he’s stressed out... I’ll go check on him” Tracy said and quickly left, leaving Jason even more confused.

“What the hell is her problem? Why does she always take good care of him?” Jason asked.

“Alex is right, you are not really bright” Silver laughed and walked away, leaving Jason even more confused.

“What the hell is wrong with everyone today?” He asked.

Knock!

Knock!

Alex was seated on his bed in a cross-legged position as he practiced the second stage of demon kin technique; Devil breath. He was at his eighteenth breath and his boy was already red. After practicing for a month plus, Alex could only improve his twenty breaths by ten breaths, since then he has been unable to improve further.

“My rate of improvement is rather low... Unfortunately, I don’t think my talent is the problem, it’s more like the environment is not conducive for practicing the technique...” Alex said thoughtfully.

He was so engulfed in his thoughts he failed to notice someone knock or when the door opened. Alex took the nineteenth breath and his body began trembling softly. The rumbling sound began could be heard if one listened carefully. It was low at first but when Alex took the twentieth breath it became louder.

He suddenly yanked his eyes open and slowly exhaled. His scorching red body slowly returned to its normal color.

“If it were in the past when I was used to staying alone, I would have attacked first, without looking” Alex said calmly as he shot Tracy a meaningful glance.

For a while now, their relationship has been strange. Alex simply saw her as a friend’s sister and simply wanted a good relationship but on numerous occasions, she tends to keep her distance from him. At a point as goes out of her way to avoid him without giving him a reason. At first, he was confused about it and wished to know why but after a while he just wrote it off as a girl thing and never bothered himself with it anymore.

Whenever she decides to speak to him, he will respond. If he prefers to stay away from him, he won’t bother himself too.

“It’s good you are not that way anymore... I use to hate that you...” Tracy said slowly while trying to avoid making eye contact.

“Not much has changed... So why don’t you hate me anymore?” Alex asked with a raised eyebrow.

Hearing this question, Tracy’s face turned red and she slowly walked forward and sat on the bed.

“You are not the cold bastard I always thought you were...” Tracy said in a low voice and Alex gazed at her with a confused look on his face.

“I am the same person you knew... My emotions are restricted to a handful of people I call loved ones... Everyone else is an extra... I am not a good person” Alex said with a stern look on his face.

“Well, that’s good enough for me...” Tracy said as she leaned forward and kissed Alex.

Alex was caught off guard and he felt the warm lips press against his. His head began spinning and his thoughts got messed up. Before Alex could calm himself down, the kiss was over and Tracy had already run out of the room.

Why would she kiss him and then run away without giving him an explanation?

Is this some sort of prank?

He was left alone confused and feeling hot all over. His eyes revealed his confusion as he fell on the bed and shut his eyes tight. He wanted to sleep it off but each time he shut his eyes he could feel those lips. The taste of her breath was still in his mouth and her fragrance filled the room. Alex has never felt this restless in his life before and he hated it.

With no other choice, he locked the door of his room and put on a song. He listened to music till he eventually slept off.

________________________________________

Blake has lived a normal life from the start till now. He is from a wealthy family that survives on the family business. Their family has always lived a normal life and none of them had deviant powers they saw no need to get involved in the violent side of life. When Blake awakened his deviant powers he could not forget the look on their faces. It wasn’t one of joy or pride instead it was fear. They gazed at him as if he was some sort of beast.

His parents made him swear to never use his deviant powers ever again. It was more like they were scared of the conflict and violence that comes along with the power. Since then Blake had no other choice but to calmly live his everyday life like a normal powerless human, attending Gray field academy and eating normal food when all he has ever wanted is to go out there and fight against those that make this world unsafe.

He sat in class today and kept peeping out of the window. Just like every other day in school, it was extremely boring a hot. He wore this frustrated look on his face but then a loud explosion rocked the entrance of the academy, leaving him stunned.

It wasn’t just Blake and the rest of the class who looked out the window only to see people in black approach. They spread out moving I different buildings in the academy.

“What are they?” Blake muttered as he gazed at them meaningfully and noticed they all had some sort of black beast tattoo on their body.

Without hesitation, Blake left the rest of the class and ran out. He reached outside and realized the hall was empty, the students must have locked themselves in and this was something he considered extremely stupid. How will locking a door save them from a combination of deviants and armed men?

His mind raced and he tried to think of the perfect place to hide. This building alone had like four floors so he guessed it would take a few minutes before they get to his floor which is at the top.

Without hesitation Blake ran through the corridor, searching for one place in particular.

The Janitors storage room!

Bang!

Bang!

Bang!

Gunshots could be heard on the lower floors already but Blake didn’t shiver. He quickly ran into the storage room on that floor. It was narrow, so he squeezed himself in and use all the cleaning equipment as cover.

As a loner there was no one he got along with particularly in school, so e didn’t see the need to drag people with him. There is no one to save or no reason to risk his safety by dragging others along. He simply concluded that they will slow him down so he didn’t bother with them. Now all he had to do is wait out the crisis or wait for the guardians to come and save them.
