Chapter 55
The two charge at each other with murderous intentions in their eyes. Each step Alex took rang in his head and even his beating heart made his body tremble. His eyes were pure white as he pushed the second form of the demon kin secret technique to its max and maybe beyond.
Huff! He exhaled just when he was standing in front of the enemy and they both made their moves!
Wooo!
The sharp claws of the bat toe through the atmosphere as it stabbed forward relentlessly. Seeing this, Alex halted his advance while his upper half leaned to the side, evading the attack or so he thought!
Xiu!
The mutant bat stopped its stabbing motion halfway and quickly slashed downwards ruthlessly. Its claws carried so much power, Alex knew he would be slashed in half if he gets hit!
“....”
Gritting his teeth, Alex didn’t hesitate to punch forward. His fists flew directly at the enemy claws!
.....
BOOM!
The shockwave from the attack sent everything a hundred meters around them flying violently. At the center of the chaos were Alex and the beast struggling. They were yet to move an inch yet their bodies were riddled with countless cuts with blood squirting out. At this point even if they want to back away, they wouldn’t be able to!
“Grrrr!” Alex’s eyes were bloodshot as countless veins kept popping out of his body while he threw his free hand forward.
Crack!
Crack!
Crack!
Bone cracking sounds could be heard his left hand reached for the beast’s chest. Before the bat could react, Alex already had the blue gem in his hands. Blue marks spread across his body as he retracted his fist, letting the power of the blue gem fill his fist before punching forward!
“Kill!” Alex growled coldly as his fist struck the enemy’s head causing it to explode.
Blood splattered everywhere and for the first time in a long time, there was silence.
Puti!
Alex spat out a mouthful of blood as he let go of the blue gem and fell to his knees. The matter absorption ability simply allowed him to utilize the raw power of the blue gem, his body is too weak currently so he didn’t dare absorb it.
“It’s finally over... I won... Hehehe” Alex spoke with a dry laugh as he fell to the ground. His vision had turned shaky and he was too weak to move.
His body wasn’t listening to his commands anymore.
“You won? It’s more like I won!” A cruel voice echoed in his ears and Alex frowned.
It was the voice of the hunter whom Alex believe was already dead. He crushed the man in between rocks used the rock sphere as a weapon in battle and even the bat attacked rock sphere with its sonic waves so how the hell did he survive all of that?
“Hehehehe!” Alex chuckled coldly as he used the last strength he could muster to look at the man approaching.
His body lacked shaped and his body was riddled with holes. Alex noticed his wounds were healing and his severed hand which Silver cut off was growing from scratch. It’s just as Alex suspected, this hunter hid his true power from them! He fooled them!
“Hehehe... I guess the checkmate is on me” Alex muttered as his vision faded.
He wasn’t particularly pissed by the outcome of things. Yes, he will die here but he pushed himself to the limit and beyond, he had nothing to regret. If he died without giving it his all, he would be bothered but not this.
The strength he and the mutant bat displayed should be somewhere near the tiger threat level. He realized that in times of desperation he can push the gravity power to the max to give him a massive boost but at this cost. With this performance, he should be able to compare against mid-tier rated guardians and hunters. Those are hunters and guardians rated B to A.
It’s a shame he realized this just too late.
His senses finally shut down, pushing him into a dream-like state. He was thankful for this because it means he won’t have to feel any pain when the hunter kills him.
“I am sorry Silver... I just couldn’t let that beast live”
Those were his final words...

For an unknown amount of time, Alex was in what one might consider a peaceful state. Surrounded by so much darkness with no one to bother him, he considered this paradise. Even though he is an atheist, he believed this can only be heaven.
Like, what can be better than peace of mind?
Suddenly his peaceful life was over as a piercing light invaded his dark space. Alex struggled against it fiercely but he couldn’t resist the bright light pulling him out Of the darkness!
Huff!
Alex exhaled heavily as his eyes yanked open and he was forced to sit up in haste.
Bam!
I didn’t die?
Didn’t the hunter kill me?
How the hell am I still alive?
Why can’t these people let someone die in peace?
His head hit some sort of glass, forcing him to call back. He calmed down this time and gazed around. He realized he was in some sort of massive cylindrical glass with green liquid filled in it. While the normal eyes could not see it, Alex could tell that the green water was filled with some sort of nanobots working on his injuries. He wore a gas mask from which he could breathe.
Alex entertained the thought of shattering the glass but he suspected the material used to create this cylindrical glass is not something be cannot shatter with his current level Of strength
“You are finally awake!” Alex heard a familiar voice and frowned. He couldn’t see outside the glass but he could hear everything.
<> Alex growled in his mind.
“Let him out, he has slept for too long” A dry but firm voice made Alex shiver.
<>
“But he is not ready... He hasn’t recovered” Tracy’s voice argued.
