Chapter 631
The delighted expression on Mimi’s face, as if she was addicted to Vincent’s blood, made his blood boil, yet Vlad felt secretly relieved his daughter was healing. Regardless, her shining green lips with traces of steam rising taunted Vlad every time.
Vlad clenched his slightly shaking fist. He raised his buckler and shield bashed Mimi out of his way. His hand moved on to Overload Vincent. “Bring it on. You damn unkillable monster!” He taunted.
*~Sigh~ Tsss* Vincent exhaled a puff of steam and contorted his face viciously. His balance was lost, and he began falling to the ground, face flat.
*Thud!* Vincent sprang forward after reaching about a forty-degree angle. He became a blur while leaving a lot of wet soil and wet grass falling.
*Clang, clang, swish* Vlad and Overload Vincent blocked and countered each other dozens upon dozens of times. The temperature became warmer, and the boiling mutated blood flung in the air after each slash evaporated quickly.
Vlad was weakened by about twenty percent because of his injured soul. Additionally, the fight against Vincent lasted for a few minutes.
Vlad was gradually losing his stat advantage, yet he still only used Energy Flow to make his rapier sharper. The more time passed, the more his speed decreased.
Vlad needed to drink blood to recover his strength and stamina, but his options were currently limited.
.....
Vlad didn’t want to fathom the idea of drinking Vincent’s blood. Furthermore, he couldn’t keep Vincent away from him for enough time to drink ordinary blood. Also, Lucas wouldn’t allow their fight to approach Anna or anyone gathered near her.
Vlad had another problem all vampires suffer from. Vampires could drink the vampire blood of others, but it will not provide any sustenance. It was similar to their bodies’ inability to process and digest vampire blood, like how their bodies process and digest non-vampire blood.
Thus, Vlad could only drink blood from Overload Vincent, as he couldn’t drink blood from his daughter. It would provide him with no recovery.
‘I will not be tempted to drink your blood, you monster. I will beat you without having a part of you circulating in my body.’ Vlad thought.
Vlad didn’t want to beat the monster. He saw Vincent as by becoming a monster himself. Not after spending centuries training to become stronger.
“Stop.” Said Vincent out of the blue. Overload was reaching its end, causing Vincent’s consciousness to return. However, he was still determining what had happened thus far, like the previous times.
“So you can speak now?”
*Slash... drip, drip, tsss*
Vlad slashed at Vincent’s chest. However, Vincent didn’t try to defend himself.
Vincent suffered from a deep wound to his chest. The rapier had boiling mutated blood on it. Some evaporated, leaving a trail of green steam, while the remaining blood dripped from the rapier’s tip. The mutated blood evaporated before touching the ground.
Vincent contorted his face, but thankfully, the pain was being dampened because of the Overload state. “Can we stop now?” He said while relaxing his curled fingers and looking at Vlad.
A vertical arc of light encompassed with Energy Flow landed in between them. A deep line slashed in the ground separated them.
“The first one to step out of that line will make me join their opponent to stop the fight.” Said Lucas while approaching them.
Kazumi quickly returned inside Vincent’s body. [Vincent! I am glad you returned back to normal...]
Vincent heard Kazumi abruptly pause.
-Kazumi, is something the matter?-
Vincent asked. He didn’t know what had happened. The only thing he knew was being stabbed and fainting as his life was closing to an end.
[How is this possible? How is the figure of light here? How... no. Why is it looking at me like that?]
-What is wrong?-
Vincent asked. He needed to find out what Kazumi’s current state was. Additionally, hearing her say the figure of light brought a lot of questions to his mind.
[...]
-Talk to me, Kazumi. What is happ...- Vincent was suddenly stabbed, and his words were cut short.
Vincent glared at Vlad while Lucas prepared to help Vincent immobilize Vlad and stop the fight. However, Lucas was still more than two meters away from them. A few seconds were remaining for Lucas to arrive beside them.
“I don’t have time for you.” Vincent said before shoving Vlad and taking a step back. The rapier piercing his body unstuck itself, allowing Vincent time to think.
Vlad frowned. He held his rapier firmly and covered it with Energy Flow. The blade shone red before it was swiftly swung at Lucas.
A red arc of light materialized and shot toward Lucas for a brief moment before taking a sharp descent and landing in front of Lucas’s feet.
The moment the red arc of light touched the ground, Vlad moved his arm back into position and swiftly collided his rapier with this shield.
The red light of condensed Energy Flow exploded. A momentary cloud of soil and grass covered their vision, yet only Vincent, with his piercing green shining eyes, shining veins, and shining cracked gauntlets, could be easily seen.
Lucas couldn’t accurately spot Vlad’s position with his obstructed vision and Vincent’s powerful malicious intent interfering with his perception. It was for a brief second, but it was enough time for Vlad to try killing Vincent again.
‘I don’t have time with Mimi’s father right now. I need to visit my Soul Domain with or without him interrupting me. Thinking with all the anger spiraling inside of me is enough to make it difficult to focus and think.’ Vincent thought after he felt a sense of urgency to visit his soul domain.
Vincent didn’t have time to multitask. Vincent chose to use soul invite, yet he didn’t know Vlad was already invited once. Fortunately, Vincent had five more uses.
Soul invitation worked. Vlad soon saw himself stop moving.
Vlad blinked and missed the sight of the darkness completely enveloping his view. His soul was still damaged, and he couldn’t experience the previous time’s slowing effect.
Vlad found himself standing in front of two angry, living, and breathing emerald crystal sculptures.
Vlad swiftly looked from left to right with a frown on his face. His face shortly contorted a puzzled expression after taking a quick look around him.
Not too far from Vlad was Vincent lying on the dark ground. Vincent leaned upwards and quickly held the two soul eggs on his stomach from falling carefully. On top of the eggs floated a ball of light shining a little brighter than before.
That was half of the situation. The other half was in front of him.
In front of Vlad were Wolfie and Freerie. They looked angry and gave the impression of wanting to kill Vlad viciously.
Furthermore, on the throne sat the figure of light. After Vlad started to believe what Kazumi had told him about this place being a Soul Domain and experiencing injuries that his flesh and bone body did not suffer, Vlad didn’t want to fight Wolfie and Freerie if possible.
The mutated soul was constantly empowering Wolfie and Freerie. Their bodies recovered quickly and their emerald bodies remained though to break, even the newly regrown parts.
Vlad wanted to assess his condition. He lowered his gaze onto his hands and then onto his upper body. As he unhappily expected, his hands were still injured, full of cuts, and blood slightly seeped from the wound in his chest.
Vlad believed he had spent more than five minutes inside the Soul Domain last time. He didn’t like the idea of spending that much time fighting against Wolfie and Freerie again while his hands shook and soul blood seeped from his wound.
[Vincent! I didn’t think you could come here!] Exclaimed Kazumi with a happy, yet worried tone.
“These two eggs are different than Lilith’s soul egg. Where is her egg, and whose eggs are these?”
[They are your eggs.]
“This voice.” Vlad looked at Vincent after hearing Kazumi speak twice. “Is the voice putting words in my mind coming from one of those egg sculptures or that glowing light?”
“We do not have time to chitchat. I can feel a horrible sensation coming from that figure of light.” Said Vincent after feeling the strange sensation of longing. As if he had lost a part of himself.
[That figure of light was probably born from the Hero Class and Mutation Class cohabiting the same body.]
“What?...” Vincent became confused.
[A message appeared in front of the throne, and afterward, your soul was divided into two parts. One is yours. The other is the part that took the form of the figure of light sitting on the throne.]
“Huh? Does that mean he is me, and I am him?”
[Ahem, on to pressing matters. That damn figure of light has made Wolfie and Freerie take that form. We need to save them somehow.]
“This is as serious as Wolfie and Freerie growing big. We need to save them, but I need to know more about my other self.”
[Based on what I heard him say so far, that figure of light has the part of the self-blaming version you had in your younger days. At the time when you were at your worst.]
“Could the missing part of me be the reason making me become so angry I lose control? Did my soul become mutated every time Overload was activated? Has my soul mutated enough to form a soul for itself?” Vincent questioned.
