Chapter 535
The twins knew they must not be swayed as it could be dangerous to let unknown individuals continue with their questionable intentions. Additionally, their mother and sister could be in danger if they let themselves become seduced by what was in front of their eyes.
One of the two women requested to be helped. She wanted to be taken to a corner because she wasn’t feeling too well in the sun.
Lenn and Renn didn’t accept. But when the twins disagreed with the request, the other woman stepped on her foot and fell on Renn.
Renn mention in the letter how he didn’t get swayed when a woman was embracing him. But it was obvious a young teenager would become nervous if a woman with the description of beauty the twins reported were true.
The next part made Vincent and Lilith chuckle.
Renn pushed the woman back and told her a phrase they learned from Lupa, “Begone Thot.”
The two women only knew what ‘begone’ meant, yet the frowns on the twins were enough to tell them the word ‘thot’ didn’t mean anything good.
The two women tried a few more times, and after nothing swayed the teenagers, the two women left as they were starting to attract the attention of passersby.
.....
“I wonder who thought Lupa what the word thot means?” Questioned Vincent.
[Ahem... it wasn’t me. *Whistle~*] Kazumi said with a guilty conscious.
“What does that word mean?” Curiously asked Lilith.
“A loose woman, and one that tries to gain something out of her horny actions.” Explained Vincent.
After making Lilith giggle to learn a new word as if it interested her, Vincent wrote a reply letter. He asked that they should remain on alert until the attempts of revenge become infrequent enough for the patrols to take care of things.
Fortunately, Vincent was the only target and not the two Lionheart families.
Only the branch family was being harassed while the main family was being left alone. Furthermore, Aceon visited Lilith’s parents at least once every three days, yet he didn’t warn Vincent that Lilith’s parents were faking being fine.
Vincent and Lilith returned to the island and saw Lupa waiting for them. Her ears were lowered, and she looked sad.
“Did something happen?” Questioned Vincent and Lilith at the same time.
Lupa nodded and hugged Vincent. She rubbed her face on his chest. After a couple of seconds passed, Lupa explained, “It is sister Ester... she fainted again... but sister Iris is taking care of sister Ester now.”
[Did Ester go overboard again. Sigh. That girl loves to make u worry about her.]
“I will check on Ester.” Siad Lilith while leaving in a hurry.
Vincent wanted to follow Lilith, but Lupa remained to hug him. He placed his hand on her head and asked, “Are you feeling sad that Ester is always making others worry?”
“Yes... That is why I want to grow stronger. That is why I need to control my instinct of a predator. The noble white wolf blood in my body needs to activate and help me become the strongest out of all my sisters.”
*Tap, rub* “I know how you feel, Lupa. But growth can’t be controlled. It can only give a reward depending on how much effort you put in.”
“But my mate becomes stronger without much effort.”
Vincent blushed when he was inadvertently called a cheater while Kazumi burst out laughing.
Lupa released the hug and took a step back. She patted her chest and said, “I will go to train. I can not let sister Ester continue fainting.”
“Wait!” Vincent requested, yet Lupa still left.
[I think I know what you are thinking. The more Lupa becomes stronger. The more Ester tries not to be a dead weight. The stronger Ester grows, the more Lupa trains to grow.]
Vincent facepalmed while shaking his head. “It’s an endless competition...”
Later that night, Ester woke up and winked at the sleeping Vincent. She knew Kazumi was watching her.
*Day 173 – 28 November – Saturday Early Morning*
Ester returned to the bed and slept after many hours of being away with Kazumi’s company.
Hours later, the sun dawned, and the sunlight brightened the bedroom. Everyone was starting to wake up except Ester. They would gently nudge her shoulder, yet she would not wake up.
Vincent worried because, other than the condition tired. He could find no more unhealthy conditions. He kept worrying until Kazumi decided to break Ester’s request and inform Vincent how Ester spent a night training.
Vincent understood why Ester would try to keep this a secret. It would make everyone worry to see a person who fainted from overtraining to train again the moment they regained their consciousness.
At noon, Ester opened her eyes and yawned while stretching her arms. She smiled after feeling good from a good sleep, but her smile disappeared when she opened her eyes.
In front of Ester was Vincent reading a monster informational book, Lilith reading a romance book, Iris silently crushing herbs in her mortar and pestle, Plow moving her third tail with difficulty, and Lupa staring at her blunt claws as if they were going to sharpen by themselves.
*Gulp* “Sorry...” Ester apologetically said when everyone looked at her with a worried frown.
After Ester was made to explain the reason for her dangerous behavior, she revealed the result of her training.
Ester pulled her sleeve and extended her arm. A brownish sigil appeared on her arm instead of hovering on the back of her hand. This was a new and different spell application. It was similar to the glyph imitation magic Vincent copied for Ester.
Upon a closer look, the sigil-like glyph was on Ester’s skin instead of hovering like an ordinary sigil. Ester tapped on her arm and made a sound similar to someone tapping on a hard surface.
Two more sigil-like glyphs appeared, and as the three were about to connect and become one, the control over the spell was lost, and the three sigil-like glyphs disappeared. It appeared Ester was pressing her luck by moving to the possible next phase of glyph imitation.
*Clap, clap, clap*
Ester became surprised to see the people who were frowning not too long ago start clapping and congratulating her. It gave her the encouragement to do her best and learn to imitate glyph magic with her sigils.
Other than Ester progressing in her magic, nothing unusual happened in the afternoon. Vincent, Ester, Lupa, Kazumi, Iris, Lilith, Sakura, and Plow went to sleep without knowing what long day they were going to have on Sunday.
*Day 174 – 29 November – Sunday*
Sunday arrived, and after meeting with Maria and Tiffi, the Lionheart carriage left.
On their way, Kazumi noticed a suspicious man acting drunk on the sidewalk.
Kazumi notified Vincent, and as he moved his gaze to see the suspicious man, he remembered about insurance fraud. However, falling in front of three horses was different than a none living car. The horses could get hurt.
Vincent summoned a stick and accurately threw it at the man’s bottle.
The sound of the bottle breaking caused the suspicious man to look at Vincent. He fell on his bottom and shivered when Vincent glared at him as if he was about to throw the next one in his body.
[Did something happen, my mate?] Asked Lupa while enjoying Vincent’s lap.
“A drunk man wanted to play catch. So I threw a stick at him.” Joked Vincent.
[You humans do love weird games.]
“But don’t you also love it when we are alone, and I throw you sticks in difficult-to-catch locations?”
Lupa’s ears raised from the tricky situation. [That is training.] She explained after a while.
*Emerald Lionheart Mansion*
The carriage stopped in front of the gate, and Vincent jumped off. The carriage entered while leaving Vincent to chat with the twins.
Vincent congratulated them for prevailing against the seduction of, as they mentioned in the letter, very attractive women. Any other man than them would not be able to resist their seduction or something like along those lines.
The Ponalis family carriage arrived, and Vincent took a lift. He saw Aceon reveal a smile out of the blue and later heard, “All and I mean all the Lionheart family is invited to Duke and Duchess Milloween Mansion.”
Vincent smiled while entering the carriage. Now he exited the carriage filled with worry because Sakura was also invited.
Furthermore, Aceon joked while showing a frown how Duke Milloween has a unique character. Enough for his wife Karta to never bear children.
“I... I will go tell everyone to leave in an hour. It will allow us to prepare and the horses to rest.” Said Vincent while leaving to deliver the sudden breaking news.
One hour later...
Vincent, his wives, and Plow prepared to enter the carriage. The five of them wore clothes as instructed by Aceon. Even Tiffi changed into a new set of clothes.
Vincent wore formal clothes while Ester, Lupa, Iris, Lilith, and Sakura wore a dress similar to each other. Additionally, it didn’t look luxurious, yet it looked presentable enough to meet a high-ranking noble.
For some strange reason, only Iris was to wear a simple hat to cover her horn. On the other hand, Sakura didn’t need to hide her identity of being a woman of the demon race.
Sakura nervously asked Aceon, “Are you sure I am also invited? I am of the demon race after all.”
