Chapter 509
The mood inside the carriage was a little awkward for Ester while the carriage headed to the Emerald Lionheart Mansion.
Vincent introduced Ester as his wife. He explained how Ester is wearing a maid outfit because she accompanies him in the academy as his maid.
The teen beside Ester gazed at Ester as if she was an idol. Tiffi looked at Ester repeatedly from head to toe without uttering a word. It was making Ester feel uncomfortably nervous.
Fortunately, Aceon broke the few seconds of silence by introducing his daughter to Vincent and Ester as a cheerful and friendly teen. He later cleared his throat and reminded Tiffi to thank Vincent for saving her life.
Tiffi suddenly remembered that she had to thank Vincent. She was so excited to meet the mysterious fourth Sigil Mage, that is immune to her own magic, that she had forgotten all about Vincent.
“I, Tiffi Ponalis, thank Lord Vincent Lionheart for saving my life.” Tiffi thanked Vincent eloquently while sitting.
Tiffi looked at Ester again and said, “I have been waiting for the chance to meet you, Lady Ester. Lord Vincent’s words were all true. Lady Ester is healthy and beautiful.”
“P-please do not look at me like that.” Ester slightly stuttered with a faint blush on her cheeks when the compliment caught her off guard. More so by a teen with a larger chest than hers.
.....
“I am not special enough for the daughter of a Viscount to wait for someone like me.” Ester looked at Vincent and continued, “I am like this because of my husband and sisters. They are the special ones for saving my life.”
To Ester, she was simply Ester and nothing else. Being called special was a new feeling after being called a freak for many years.
Ester never thought of herself as an omnipotent person. She knew quite well how weak she was and useless she felt in Aero Forest.
“You jest, Lady Ester! Please become my Sigil Mage teacher!” Tiffi merrily exclaimed.
Declining Tiffi’s request gave the impression of being a time-consuming feat. Tiffi looked like she wasn’t going to give up easily.
Aceon smiled at the view of his daughter acting as if nothing had happened in the past few months.
Aceon knew of his daughter’s character the most, so he decided to intervene. “Now, now, Tiffy, there is no need to rush things and make Lady Ester uncomfortable. My sweet daughter, you woke up yesterday, and I only allowed you to come because you promised to behave.”
Tiffi unhappily nodded and apologized to Ester for being overly excited to meet Ester.
Aceon looked at Vincent and continued, “I apologize for my daughter’s behavior.” *Sigh* “She acts like a child when she finds something interesting.”
“Not true!” Tiffi complained with her arms crossed. “I am a little interested in Lady Ester’s magic. That’s all.”
“Hehe.” Ester giggled. “Young Lady Tiffi. Do you really want me as your teacher?”
“Yes. I would like that very much, Lady Ester. And please stop calling me Young Lady Tiffi. Call me Tiffi instead.” Tiffi requested.
As Aceon stated, Ester felt like she was talking to an enthusiastic child.
“Tiffi... I can be called your teacher, but there is a problem.”
“Problem?”
“I can teach on how to control the mana of the sigil spell, but you will get hurt in the process. Maybe Teacher Maria and Kazumi Sensei can help you the most with controlling your mana.” Ester honestly said.
Tiffi became interested in meeting with Maria. However, Tiffi didn’t know how grumpy Maria could become at the sight of a noble.
Tiffi glanced at Vincent and said. “I already met Kazumi Sensei. She was very kind to me.”
Tiffi returned her gaze to Ester and continued, “Is teacher Maria a Sigil Mage too?”
“No. Teacher Maria is a teacher at the academy. She visits us almost every day and teaches us to control mana. She also comes with us every Sunday to our home. You can meet Teacher Maria and ask her to be your teacher instead of me.”
Tiffi shook her head when Ester was undermining her worth. “There is no need to have one teacher when I can have three.”
“...” Ester was at a loss for words. She nodded and let Tiffi call her, Teacher Ester.
While Tiffi and Ester were chatting, Vincent checked Tiffi’s status window.

“Lord Aceon, your daughter has recovered. Additionally, she has gained twenty mana in the past week. I guess Tiffi unconsciously kept controlling her mana while sleeping.”
“Yes, I know about it. I was surprised too when I used the high-quality inspection gemstone my friend lent me after meeting and telling him how my daughter has stopped using her spell.” Aceon smiled warmly while talking about his true friend who helped when he had barely anything left to offer in return.
Aceon looked at his daughter and remained smiling warmly. “I am deeply grateful for all the help he provided. He is the second person to whom I owe a huge debt since the man who saved my daughter takes the first place.”
Vincent and Ester conversed with the Ponalis family in an old carriage with new comfy seats. The ride was pleasant, and the time flew by until the carriage suddenly stopped about ten minutes away from the Emerald Lionheart Mansion.
The small front window slide opened, and the butler explained, “There is a woman on the ground and a small crowd of people besides her. The woman doesn’t look hurt. I think she fainted.”
“We can wait until the people take the woman away. The person I needed to visit is beside me, so we are not in a hurry.” Responded Aceon.
Kazumi was curious about what happened. She left Vincent’s body and went to observe the situation.
“Ohh, my! What happened to this woman? She is breathing, and she doesn’t have any injuries. Did she faint?” A woman dressed as a maid questioned.
Another woman dressed as a maid rolled up the fainted woman’s sleeve and gasped from shock. On the fainted woman’s arm was a rash known to be an illegal drug’s side effect.
“This woman is a drug...” *Slash, Splatter, Thud* The woman slammed to the ground when a man behind her swung his sword at her back.
“AHH!” The other woman wearing a maid outfit screamed loudly before she was slain by a different man standing behind her.
Kazumi rushed back to Vincent. A second before returning to Vincent’s body, she saw three hooded men climb on the carriage’s roof.
[The woman on the ground was intentionally placed to cause a commotion and block the road. The two poor maids who were about to help the fainted woman were killed mercilessly.]
[Vincent, we are being targeted again. You have to...]
-I know Kazumi. I can feel this bloodlust from meters away. These are assassins.-
*Rip* The assassins swiftly ripped a hole in the fabric roof.
“Die Vincent Lionheart for touching someone you should not have touched!” The assassin shouted while throwing a Molotov in the carriage.
The assassin planned to burn and kill those inside the carriage along with the intended target, which was Vincent. It appeared they had studied Vincent’s Sunday as he left with the carriage accompanied by Sofy most of the time.
The assassins had a great assassination plan. The three assassins on the roof can jump on the passengers that leave the carriage in a hurry. They would be able to kill their target and any witnesses by catching them off guard.
However, the Molotov never ignited, and the well-thought plan didn’t work. Instead, a cloud of green steam rose from the roof’s hole, bringing a puzzled frown to their faces.
The assassins looked down at the hole and saw two green dots glowing behind the green steam. They felt a chill rush down their spine, causing them to hurry with their next assassination plan.
One of the assassins whistled for Plan B to begin. More steps could be heard approaching, and more murderous intent could be felt. The situation was about to escalate even further soon.
Aceon’s two butlers knew the horse would be killed if they tried to force their way through. The carriage would be unable to escape if the horse died.
The butlers grabbed their swords, hoping they were strong and fortunate enough to protect their lord and the young lady from harm.
The two went their separate ways with different priorities on how to help. One to open an escape route and the other to protect and escort.
The driver butler jumped down and desperately fought against three assassins to protect the frightened horse behind him.
He firmly believed that if the three assassins in front of the carriage were dealt with, the horse could pull the carriage with less chance of death.
The second butler was about to climb the roof and fight against the three assassins when he saw six more assassins rush to the door’s side and four more on the opposite side.
The situation looked grim as the two butlers couldn’t compete with sixteen assassins at once. It became worse when the assassins each threw a Molotov to burn the old carriage.
When the situation looked hopeless with no chance of survival, many green lights flashed when the Molotovs touched the carriage. Not only didn’t it catch on fire, but the Molotoves disappeared as if they didn’t exist.
