Chapter 338
-...-
Ester felt happy getting complimented by Vincent. Furthermore, not hearing negative or hateful comments helped in boosting her confidence.
Ester was feeling like a changed woman after mustering her courage to dance and wishing not to be called horrible words such as freak or monster.
Ester felt too shy to look around her and meet with the eyes of many looking at her. She grabbed the pitcher of beer and took a sip.
“Haha.” Vincent laughed when he saw Ester contort her face from the sour taste of beer. “Now I want to see you drunk, haha.”
Time passed, and most of the adventurers left. However, not all the large mugs with beer on their table were consumed.
Vincent stopped after two while Ester drank one with difficulty and fell asleep on the table.
Vincent looked around, and the moment Kazumi gave him the go-ahead, he swiftly stored all the beer from the pitchers. No one saw the beer inside the glass mugs glow green and disappear in mere seconds.
.....
.
[9100ml Barley Malt Beer (Common Quality) gained.]
.
Vincent nudged Ester’s shoulder patiently until she opened her eyes a few minutes later. “Ester, wake up, let’s go somewhere else.” He helped the tipsy Ester stand and leave the building.
‘My body has become more tolerant to alcohol than it was before. I remember I would feel like this after drinking two normal-sized cups. I could drink more, but it would be unsafe in this place.’ Vincent thought as he helped Ester walk.
Vincent and Ester left the guildhall. He looked around and noticed it would be better to carry the intoxicated Ester instead of helping her walk as the number of people roaming outside remained almost the same. He didn’t want to bump against someone and drop Ester.
[How about you rest in that cheap dirty room? The smell should set your senses straight, and the two of you can sober up before returning home, hehe.]
*Sigh...*
-Regrettably, I have to agree. The inn is a few minutes away, while our home is at least an hour away.-
Vincent placed Ester on his back and gave her a piggyback ride to the Lovers Nest Inn. He paid for a room and almost puked the beer by the smell.
*cough* “Where am I?” Ester woke up. She saw Vincent airing the room by opening the window and summoning clean fabrics to use.
“Good morning, my dear drunk Ester.” Vincent sat on the bed. “I brought you here because I am not used to getting drunk. Additionally, I don’t know what could have happened to you.”
Vincent raised his hand, extended two fingers, and asked how many fingers he had.
“Two.” Ester raised a silly smile and raised two fingers. “How much do I have? ” *hic*
“The answer is two. But it seems you are still somewhat drunk.” Vincent lowered her hand and continued, “Take a quick rest to sober up, and we will later go home.”
Ester shook her head. *hic* “Show me how strong Sakura made you.” She smiled seductively and embraced him.
[Looks like drunk Ester is fierce, hehe.]
*Lionheart Mansion*
Vincent and Ester returned to the mansion. They saw the twins with their cheeks red from miles away talking to a woman who wasn’t wearing too many clothes.
“Please leave. Someone might see you. We might get in trouble if our mother sees you.” Lenn begged while he averted his gaze.
“We don’t need what you’re offering... please wear some clothes even if it is hot outside.” Renn tried to shoo the woman away with words.
The woman grabbed their hands and placed them on her chest. “I know you bad boys like to play hard. Don’t worry.” The woman seductively winked and continued, “Let’s have some fun.”
Lenn and Renn noticed Vincent and Ester not too far from them. They pulled their hands hastily and ripped the woman’s old rag-like shirt.
“Ahh!” The twins took a step back and averted their gaze after taking a look.
“You boys like it rough as I was told, hehe.” The woman didn’t mind being topless out in the open. However, she didn’t flesh her chest for long as green light appeared from behind her, and a long sheet was soon covering from neck down.
“Teacher! This isn’t what it looks like!” The twins said in a wavering voice.
The woman turned around and saw Vincent. She smiled and thought how handsome he is, but then entered Ester in her line of sight. She frowned after knowing the man was taken.
Vincent knew the twins liked Eliara and Fliara. Furthermore, requesting this kind of service during their guarding duty and in front of the mansion’s entrance gate was close to zero.
Previously, Vincent told the twins that they not only were guarding the mansion but the people inside as well. Their mother and sister’s safety was in their hands.
[Looks like the rumors of the mansion being owned by a gravely ill noblewoman have made a few people fearless. The twins need to train both physically and mentally.]
“Miss. May I know the reason why you are trying to offer your services to these two young teens?” Vincent asked politely.
The woman faced Vincent and smiled seductively. “I can take three, hehe.” She flashed her chest and winked at him.
Ester smiled while thinking, ‘I don’t feel envious of her large chest. No... not one bit...’ Ester was trying hard not to slap her face.
Vincent glared when the woman acted playfully. “Cover yourself and explain why you are here or do I need to call the soldiers to take you away.” He said with a raised voice.
The woman immediately covered herself. She looked intimidated while taking a step back.
“I was paid a portion of my fee to entertain the gate guards of this place. I was told the guards would pay the rest. I was told the guards could give me extra coins if I do well.” The woman answered in a wavering voice and looked at the ground. “I thought I was asked like this because they are young. That is all I know, sir.”
[In other words, this was plotted by someone. I hope it isn’t the Blackheart family looking for revenge.]
*Sigh* “I regret to inform, you were lied to. This mansion has become a part of the Lionheart family, and we Lionhearts don’t use such services.” Vincent moved his head to indicate the woman to leave. “Please leave.”
[That the!]
[There is a man inside, and he is trying to leave!]
Vincent looked inside the property and saw a man with bloodstains on his clothes. In one of his hands was a dagger, and it was covered in blood. The man was pale, and he looked behind him from time to time.
“Intruder! Lenn! Renn! No one leaves our home!” Vincent exclaimed.
Lenn and Renn drew their swords. Ester took out the dormant Elsir to help if necessary. The three of them were prepared to stop the man, yet Vincent stepped forward, raised his hand, and closed his fist.
A chill ran down their spine. Vincent looked like he wanted to stop the intruder at all costs.
The woman remained in front of the gate as she became too scared to move. She saw the man with blood on him headed toward them. The woman felt afraid she was unknowingly involved in a murder.
Vincent prepared to intercept the man. Lupa and Sakura soon entered his sight. Lupa was running on all fours, and she didn’t look injured. However, when he saw Sakura holding a hammer and covered in blood, his heart skipped a beat.
Thoughts of Sakura being injured rushed to his mind. Vincent became enraged as he angrily mumbled with his teeth clenched, “Overheat.”
“Save me! Save me!” The man shouted. However, he soon saw a grim reaper with green eyes glaring into his soul. “No! Not another demon!”
Vincent bolted forward with immense rage after watching his woman covered in blood. He didn’t know who it was, why he intruded, why he was covered in blood, and how much did he injure Sakura, but he wasn’t going to wait and ask.
Vincent ran aggressively. The earth surrendered to each of his mighty steps. Soil and grass flew in the air like small fireworks of dirt erupting.
Vincent arrived at a striking distance in seconds. Vincent threw a punch at the man’s chest with all his might *Splat!* the man was impaled from the might and anger of Vincent.
“WAAAAA!...” The woman screamed and fainted.
Vincent froze for a moment. He didn’t think his new strength could easily kill a man.
Vincent took a step back, and the man fell to the ground. He looked at his hand with the blood evaporating. His hand closed and opened. A reason shortly flashed in his mind.
“Damn... I must have unknowingly used some of the mana Overflow absorbed...” Vincent looked at the man and continued, “But I didn’t even have one charge yet. How weak was he?”
[Yeah. I felt mana bend when you threw the punch. But now we don’t know why he was here and who sent him.]
[Furthermore, the woman fainted, but she appears to be innocent. I examined her facial expressions and matched them to a person who is telling the truth and is worried about their involvement.]
“Good hunt. ” Lupa said when she arrived beside Vincent.
Vincent looked at Lupa and stopped using Overheat. His body and voice returned to normal.
Sakura arrived next. The hammer was dripping blood, and the thick clothes Vincent bought Sakura had few deep scratches on them. Fortunately, only one or two cuts landed with force and made a shallow cut.
