Chapter 286
Lilith went to the desk with papers and ink and used a water pitcher to fill the cup with water. She handed the cup to her mother and noticed her mother had a warm smile on her face.
“Lilith, my little angel, I am happy to see you safe and sound. ” Teresa said before she took a sip.
Two days ago, Teresa was scratching her head about what to do to keep the Lionheart family from losing the last property in their possession.
The old maid suddenly announced the arrival of the Duke and soon heard about her daughter going missing. She was about to faint but, the Duke informed the report passed from a trusted man under their family. It was information Ben reported.
Biro planned to use some of his family’s trusted and strong men to intimidate Demel Blackheart’s guards with the intent to capture them for interrogation.
The trusted soldiers would later visit the mansion with the excuse of a reported suspicious people around this area and reveal how there were no private guards when they entered from the front gate.
However, Maid Xu’s appearance with the report of what happened to Lilith and the Guild Leader Gevan storming in the mansion much sooner than the plan should have taken place caused the assassins to also move at a different time.
Teresa turned her gaze on Vincent and said after she drank the water, “I only said this in front of my little angel and her savior because you have done a lot for us and...”
.....
Teresa frowned and continued with a stronger tone, “I heard from my husband you wish to marry my little angel enough for her husband to suddenly kill himself and his wife to request her parents for another marriage on the same day.”
“Vincent, let me speak straight. I heard from my husband and my little angel how you wish to marry and become a noble. Why did you have to get involved in so much trouble just to take advantage of us? We are a weak and failing Baron noble family.” Teresa questioned.
Teresa showed Vincent how she knew something was amiss, and she also revealed how she isn’t buying the Viscount Demel Blackheart’s death as a sudden overdose.
[Look at her, mama lioness is strong. Teresa Lionheart might be hard to deal with. I bet Teresa had to take care of the family business in Leonis stead since he can’t lie to his customers.]
-Teresa looks like an honest person. I am going to try being honest as well.-
[...]
“Teresa. I wanted to become a noble one day to marry my other women. But later, I wanted to make a certain man pay for his and his men’s actions. I heard what Maid Xu had to say and decided to save Lilith and marry her.” Vincent boldly said to Teresa.
Vincent even mentioned other women he intends to marry directly in front of her face. It wasn’t something a parent should ever hear when considering if their child should marry or not.
“Mother, I am happy and fine about this. I told Vincent I want to be his woman rather than another meaningless marriage if anyone wants me, that is...” Lilith said after Vincent.
Lilith wrapped her arms around Vincent’s as if he was about to run away and said, “I want this marriage to happen. I want to live a new life. A new life with a man that does so much to keep a promise. A man who...”
“L-loves m-me.” Lilith turned red like a bulb and hid her face behind Vincent’s shoulder.
[Ho~ho. Now this is getting juicy.]
Teresa looked at Vincent with a shocked yet surprised expression on her face. She couldn’t believe her daughter was acting like a young maiden in love.
‘I heard from Maid Xu how much my little angel suffered in these past ten years. But now my little angel is acting like she is fine if she is happy.’ After ten years of suffering, Teresa pondered why her daughter didn’t look like a depressed woman. Yet, Teresa couldn’t believe Vincent could heal her daughter’s emotions at his unexpected appearance in her life.
“Teresa, I didn’t heal you to own me a favor. I healed my future mother-in-law not to have my future wife suffer losing a parent as I did.” Vincent tried to make Teresa understand that he doesn’t have any bad intentions.
However, Teresa didn’t look satisfied. She got so used to losing business and orders with creative excuses that she wanted to make sure his feelings were genuine before deciding if Vincent could have her daughter.
“I heard you have other mistresses... ” Teresa said before Vincent interrupted her.
“I treat all my women equally no matter the amount. I will do my utmost best to make Lilith happy and try to help her overcome the memories of the past ten years. Lilith will also be the main wife in the eyes of the law.” Vincent wanted Teresa to know that Lilith would be considered the family’s primary wife while the other harem members would be considered as concubines.
“...” Teresa was out of words. Even her expression froze for a moment.
“Mother, please listen to this. ” Lilith said with a smile. “Vincent can heal my body, and I will be able to eat normally and also have children too! Vincent can cure my curse. Vincent can also cure your...” Lilith abruptly stopped and covered her mouth to stop talking. Her excitement got the better of her.
Teresa stared at Lilith for about a minute to comprehend what her daughter stated and determine if it was a joke because it sounded impossible.
“Duke Biro Hawkins told me how not even his father’s friend, the Royal Doctor Hibiscus, could cure a high-ranked curse. Only the cleansing scrolls probably hidden in the kingdom’s safe or a rumor of a Royal Doctor in the Central Desert Continent could help us. Curses can’t be removed with potions after all.” She stated the facts. However, she didn’t know the rule-breaker Vincent was in front of her.
“My precious daughter. Don’t be tricked by sweet words. Vincent is offering the impossible.” Teresa was worried about her daughter. The more she heard, the more she believed it to be a scam.
[Just how low level are the spells of healers in this world? Teresa is saying how not even those who are the healers of royals could remove a high condition. Or at least a high-ranked curse.]
-Yes, they are even treating minor heal like a miracle if I understood correctly.-
Lilith frowned when her mother doubted her words. She grabbed the bottom edge of Vincent’s shirt and said, “Let’s show her how!”
“Huh? WHAT?” Vincent was caught off guard.
“No. Don’t do something indecent, my little angel!” Teresa exclaimed when she thought her daughter was about to do something shameful by undressing Vincent for some reason to prove a point.
Lilith raised her hands, and the shirt followed upwards. Teresa could see Vincent’s six-pack and a mark that made her expression change for the worst.
Lilith stopped when her mother stared at the two of them. Her cheeks blushed, and she lost the burst of shamelessness from the heat of the moment.
Lilith let the shirt go and took a step back out of embarrassment. She wanted to hide in a hole right now.
[Heh... well, the secret is out. We tried to have Iris help in order not to let her parents know about who you really are. Your presence is dangerous if discovered, yet now the cat is out of the bag.]
*Sigh* “Don’t think about what person I might be before you hear who I am. This is who I am...”
Vincent had no choice but to clarify who he was with a piece of good news first like an ice breaker.
Vincent mentioned how he could heal Lilith, Teresa, and Leonis before continuing with a piece of news that should make Teresa afraid of him. He was called an invader, after all.
Teresa blinked a couple of times with a frown when she heard Vincent say he was from another world. Teresa was confused as heck, and she needed time to process such a small combination of words no one dared to proclaim as it results in death.
Lilith started feeling guilty after she abruptly showed Vincent’s hero mark. Fortunately, she decided to help clear the misunderstanding of Vincent being an evil person by letting her mother know what she knew about Vincent.
Lilith explained how Vincent is from a peaceful world, and it wasn’t his choice to get summoned and unwanted by the people. Lilith tried to paint Vincent as a good person, but the more she tried, the more it sounded like an excuse.
“Lady Teresa, I want to live peacefully in this world and make it my home since I most likely can’t leave like when I want to the past people from my world. Those that lived could only stay for hundred years.” Vincent said in the friendliest manner he knows.
Vincent then continued with who his enemies would be if he ever decided to do as everyone thinks otherworldly invaders have the urge to do.
“But I was sent here earlier than expected... most probably because the creator of the book from my world known as the sixth invader was killed by the Selos Kingdom. They killed my best friend.”
