Chapter 171

“Normally, people get promoted to D Rank because of their Mana reaching over three hundred or their strength reaching thirty. Unfortunately, Agility is a difficult stat for humans to increase when compared to strength.”

“Last thing about stats and rankings. Because of the otherworldy invaders, our ranking system might experience change every hundred years. But it hasn’t happened in the last few centuries.” Gevan said.

Fortunately, Gevan was still surprised by Lupa’s Race, Class, and Traits. He didn’t notice Vincent twitch his face, Ester getting flustered, and Lupa stop wagging her tail.

To the people of this different world with magic, Vincent is the seventh invader, while Ester and Lupa are his accomplices. The change is because of them.

“It’s already been seventy-five years since the sixth invader arrived at this world. Twenty-four years ago, he was slain by the Royal Guard of the Selos Kingdom.” Gevan was about to continue when Vincent interrupted.

“Do you know who killed him? I heard he has the power of a hundred people. So about one thousand Strength, right?” Vincent asked.

.....

“Ohh. It seems you are a bit informed about the Royal Guard of the Selos Kingdom. He was once an adventurer but stopped being one a century ago. He was an S Ranker with the Bloodline Bloodzerker class before he retired as an adventurer. As for his power, it gets boosted after drinking blood.” Gevan revealed.

Gevan then let out a sigh and continued, “Heh... I don’t know more than that, nor know his appearance. He might not be a human for living that long, though. Unfortunately, reports about him are even classified information to Guild Leaders. The Guild Masters sometimes hide information regarding S Rankers.”

Vincent felt his heart twist upon hearing about Kevin’s killer after he forgot about him because of the difficulties he faced up until now.

The guild leader saw Vincent frown and decided to change the subject, “Lupa has a Bloodline Class that I never saw before. A Bloodline Trait and a rare Trait. Also, a Bloodline ability I never saw before. Primal Insight sounds like a perception enhancing ability, and I think it can be classified as a Bloodline ability.”

“This human male is good! I feel everything slow for a second. But I don’t know how to use it. ” Lupa decided to fish for information about her ability slyly.

“As I thought, it must be a rare perception enhancing ability similar to the rare Beast Insight few have. It might be better and have additional benefits based on the race of the animal DNA. Well, you are the first white wolf beastman I saw or ever registered as an adventurer.” Gevan said with his eyes brightened with enthusiasm. He seemed interested to see her ability in action.

[Looks like you have already started to bring change to this world. You might have created the first white wolf beastman in existence. Ohh, boy. And we barely have scratched the surface of the mysterious system you have.]

Kazumi said what was on her mind, yet it was also a warning to be cautious of unpredictable things.

Vincent gulped. He never wanted to make a change this impactful. Lupa was initially invited into the team to increase their chances to survive. She was in a near-death weak white wolf before becoming a retainer.

Hearing this, Lupa grinned, and her eyes arched in happiness. She turned her head and proudly gazed at Ester as if she won a competition.

Vincent noticed Lupa taunting Ester like usual. He lightly chuckled after looking at Lupa, acting all cute and childish. “How about you, Ester? Want to go next?”

Ester knew what Lupa was trying to insinuate. Ester sighed and tried to ignore the competitive wolf girl. However, Ester wished to know what other information she could discover since the low-grade version wasn’t as detailed as the one in front of her.

Gevan gave Lupa a few tips for her special Primal Insight ability. Ester hoped Gevan would do the same to her because of her self magic immunity.

“I...*Gulp*” Ester paused as the nervousness was about to make her sweat.

“I will go next. Ple-please, tell me even a small hint to improve myself.” Ester finally decided to ask for help. She decided now it was the perfect time to receive guidance and be of help to Vincent.

“So, you also have a class too. Great, you can go next. I will give you suggestions on what to do to improve if I can.” Gevan agreed.

Ester extended her hand and imagined looking at a mirror. The Inspection Gemstone shone, and a hologram started to form a window of information, line by line.

Gevan began reading one detail after another, and the more he read, the more sorry he felt for Ester’s Sigil Class. However, it didn’t take too long for his face to freeze from both shock and surprise.

[Rank Computing...]

[Assessing overall rating...]

[Rank for Ester created. Rank E 2 Star is the overall grade.]

.

“Haha! Don’t worry. Two stars are less than eight stars. I win!” Lupa proudly expressed joy from gaining six more stars than Ester.

“...” Ester felt embarrassed by the low amount of stars she received. Ester wanted to find a corner and hide there until leaving.

Kazumi was about to make a comment when she noticed Gevan’s expression. She immediately understood why he might be making that face and said.

[I think I know where Gevan is looking at. It seems like Lupa; Ester might cause some trouble because of the inspection.]

Vincent stopped looking at the low rank and noticed Gevan looking both at the hologram and Ester.

“Ca-can yo-you... ” Gevan stuttered. Then he stopped for a breather and continued, “Can you show me your sigil magic?”

Ester forgot about how special it was to be immune to her magic after Vincent and Lupa didn’t mention much about her extraordinary resistance. With what happened to them, Ester overlooked this fact even more.

Ester nodded and used her Frost Sigil. Her crimson eyes glowed, and her hands started emitting cold. A frosty sigil appeared on each side, hovering at the back of her hand. Every second that passed, Gevan stared as if he was looking at a miracle.

“By the dragon gods! You can’t get hurt by your sigil magic!” Gevan exclaimed with a bright smile, like a kid that found a legendary treasure.

Ester stopped channeling Mana to her frost sigils and then asked, “Sir Gevan, is there something wrong?”

“One moment.” Gevan stood up and opened the door. He looked to check if there was someone in the corridor and then sat back on the chair.

“There is no one listening, so don’t worry. Now, let me tell you a story you might have heard. Or at least, this is the real version of what I’m about to say.” Gevan acted as if he was about to say a secret, but Vincent and Kazumi had a slight idea of what it was going to be about.

“Ester, you are very special. There have been a total of three people that have achieved complete resistance to their own magic. All three had one thing in common. They were all sigil mages.”

“No other magical class has achieved something like this before. It made many believe only sigil mages can acquire such resistance. Not even glyph mages can offer that much magic resistance.”

“The first to achieve complete resistance to their own magic was as an experiment. But, unfortunately, he died a few years later from unknown conditions he suffered done to achieve this, it seems.”

“The second person was a rich nobleman who sold all his fortune to buy many treasures. Many say he was lucky and bought a priceless treasure that allowed him to attain self magic immunity and live a long and envious life.”

“He became king because of his strength and passed away not long ago. You might have heard of him before. He is... well, was the king of the Berlucia Kingdom.”

“A nearby kingdom competing with the Berlucia Kingdom wanted to win in the minor territorial scuffles both states made. They wanted to win and expand, but whenever the Berlucia king appeared, he always won.”

“In the end, in order to fight fire with fire, the kingdom experimented on people until the third sigil mage with self magic immunity appeared.”

“However, karma happened, and death followed. The person was later revealed to be a test subject similar to the first sigil mage that appeared to be immune to their magic. The unfortunate test subject had gone thru so much torture that she killed and destroyed the kingdom.”

“This is why I’m calling it kingdom without naming it. The Berlucia Kingdom now owns the land, and this subject is considered a taboo in some places.”

Hearing this, Vincent, Lupa, and Kazumi stared at Gevan while thinking, ‘How strong can Ester become?’ Ester thought, ‘Does this mean my wish to help came true?’

Gevan changed his expression to a warm and reassuring one. He announced, “Ester. You are the fourth to become immune to your magic. So don’t worry; your secret is safe with me. However, such information might move mountains, so I will hide your resistance passive in the reports.”

“Thank you. We didn’t know it could place a target on us. I’m glad we met you.” Vincent thanked him while his heart raced from anxiety. Vincent was trying his best not to get discovered, yet he forgot that Ester and Lupa were also exceptional cases like him.

Gevan understood and nodded. “I won’t ask how you managed this, but I’m all ears whenever you want to talk. I won’t say a word without your permission. You have my word. Furthermore, Ester, you don’t need to do a combat test. You passed and can become an adventurer immediately.”

Ester became pleased to hear this, but she still couldn’t believe his reaction to her strength and how Gevan painted Ester as the next upcoming powerhouse to shake the world.

[Surprisingly, we ended up with new information about this world from the mouth of a guild leader. Gevan seems to be a good guy more than I thought.]
