Chapter 136 Vampire Weakness To Failure - Part 1

In another part of the forest, the Seventh Progenitor was slowly trying to grow his strength.

The Seventh Progenitor was easily the weakest of the seven, being the youngest of them and also the least mature. For hundreds of years, he struggled to compete against the others. However, with this new opportunity, he hoped to finally accumulate more influence.

"Karnstein, how many offspring did you make today?"

"I managed to make twelve."

The Seventh Progenitor\'s strategy was very different from that of the Second Progenitor\'s. Instead of aiming only for high-value humans for offspring, the Seventh Progenitor made it a rule to make every single human the royals found into offspring, regardless of their strength or ability.

"Although, some of our offspring got killed by the Third Progenitor\'s royals."

"That\'s fine, how many did we lose."

"We fled as fast as we could but we lost quite few peons and Barons."

"That\'s fine, go out and make some more."

"I caught sight of some Dukes of the Second Progenitor, I don\'t want to get into contact with them."

"Dukes? Ah, we really can\'t get into conflict with them."

"Yeah."

"However, I want more offspring, go out and make some, just stay away from the Dukes."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, of course I\'m sure."

With that, Karnstein began making his way out of the small run down farmhouse that they were living in. The main building was mostly just a cover for the main base which was underground. They had an army of over a thousand vampires, all living within various tunnel structures under the ground.

However, the Seventh Progenitor\'s strategy had one major issue. There weren\'t enough humans to feed all of his vampires. They were the first colony to begin attempting to turn humans into livestock. They had a little bit of success at first, however, the humans they were keeping were killed by some starving members of their group, causing their only supply of humans to be diminished.

Now, the vampires were all so hungry that they couldn\'t even resist drinking all of their blood before they brought them back to the base.

Another issue with the Seventh Progenitor\'s strategy was that they struggled to contain the stronger humans and turn them into vampires. They had a motto of running away whenever they met a strong enemy due to the fact that their weaker members would just get bulldozed, even if the strong enemy was eventually subdued.

Within the Seventh Progenitor\'s entire army, there was not a single duke but there were six Marquees, with Karnstein being the strongest of them. But in comparison to powerhouses like Lest and Fuola, Karnstein would simply get rolled over.

Despite that, Karnstein was still a force to be reckoned with, and not a single human had yet been able to stand up to him.

After searching far away from his stronghold, Karnstein eventually found a relatively small city of humans, surrounded by a steep wall.

He was working by himself, as keeping weaker vampires around would significantly affect his mobility.

Upon seeing the wall, Karnstein took out his deep red blade.

"Sword, drink my blood."

After gathering immense amount of aura, he swung his sword, smashing down the wall, causing entire portions of it to flake off. As dust filled the air, Karnstein started making his way inside, however, contrary to what he expected, there was not a single human in sight.

What on earth...?

Was this city abandoned?

From the outskirts, it definitely didn\'t seem so. The houses were finished with various supplies and there were lots of equipment randomly dumped on the streets. Anyone was able to tell that humans were definitely inhabiting the place.

They must be hiding from me...

Karnstein walked around before finding a small group of people hiding behind one of the houses.

Ah, there you are.

They screamed and try to run away but they were all but powerless against the might of Karnstein. With one hand, he grabbed them and lifted them up to his mouth.

I\'ve been pretty hungry.

Slowly, he stuck his fangs into their necks, one by one, drinking them until there was nothing left. A slight dribble of blood stained his teeth. For some reason, all of the humans were still hiding, he assumed that it must have been a new strategy that they had implemented, although he could just slowly walk through and find them.

Or so he thought.

Suddenly, he heard loud rumbling in the distance.

From the forest, he saw a group of humans wearing dark grey clothing, with various different weapons approaching. There was an incredibly large group of them, almost fifty humans, all working as a single unit.

Shoot.

Karnstein raised his weapon.

However, he noticed a slight vibration coming from behind him. It seemed that several warriors from the city had come out of hiding to engage him as well. He was now surrounded on all sides, with soldiers approaching from every direction.

What on earth?

He noticed something odd coming from the distance. The group of people, they weren\'t just any people. As he cut down some of the warriors from the city, he sustained several small scratches due to his carelessness. As he looked down at his very minor wounds, he noticed something very peculiar.

My wounds aren\'t healing.

The squadron of humans approaching from the distance only got closer and closer and Karnstein watched in shock.

Crap, this isn\'t good.

Without regeneration, even with his strength, he would eventually be overwhelmed by the pure number of humans who were about to engage him.

With no other choice, he kicked off the ground and jumped across the roofs of the houses. He used his crimson blade to block any projectiles which were coming from the city but he focussed most of his energy on escaping.

Since when did they become so organised?

Before, the humans never would have been able to create such large opposition against the vampires. It seemed that there has been some major collaboration between the human civilisations. Against such numerous opposition, Karnstein decided that escape was the best option.
