Chapter 78
However, even though everyone was used to seeing it, their reactions were different. A lot of her classmates felt like she was only trying to be a show off, after all, there was even a paper that Wu Hao had also been unable to finish.
As for the teachers, they had long since casted their worries aside after repeatedly asking her if there was a problem.
“Are you handing over early today also?” the female invigilator from the first day asked Rong Yue with intense ridiculing in her eyes. She worked with one of the top universities in China’s capital and she knew better than anyone what these questions were like. More importantly, she was also a highly rated tutor, that being the main reason why she had been sent here as they didn’t want there to be any chances of her supervising any of her students.
She was certain that it was impossible for a student to finish these papers in that time that Rong Yue was using.
“Yes, I am.” Rong Yue said, not paying any attention to the deep ridicule in the woman’s eyes and passed her paper over.
The fourth day only had two papers in the morning, however, she couldn’t leave because she had to sit for a school organised test with Wu Hao.
“Perhaps, I’ll be lucky enough to remind you not to overestimate yourself if I’m sent to invigilate this school next year.” she said arrogantly and then picked up the two answer sheets that were by Rong Yue’s table.
“And I’ll set a reminder to pay you a visit when I’m in the capital.” Rong Yue retorted, not bothering to raise her head to meet her eye. Although she didn’t pay any mind to her initially, Rong Yue felt that as an elder, she had truly gone overboard with her words just now.
.....
The female invigilator sneered and then moved to the seat behind Rong Yue. Although she was irritated by her words, it was still an examination hall. More importantly, she was certain that the girl was only just shooting her mouth. But out of curiosity, she checked the name on Rong Yue’s papers before adding the next student’s own to the stack with her.
Rong Yue left the exam hall and went back to the classroom where her bag was and pulled out her phone. In the last three days, she had barely touched her phone and maintained a routine of getting home, getting some long hours of sleep and taking the medicinal herb that her mom made for her. Now that she was done, she looked through the bunch of emails and frowned when she saw a particular address showing with every scroll.
“Who is this?” she pondered aloud, opening the mail and seeing the content of it. “Oh!.”
Back when she had just started, she had joined a team of people to complete work and assigned tasks. It had however been easy for her to forget them as they usually left all the work to them and then splitted the money easily. Now that she had her own way of getting her works, she wasn’t really interested in working with them anymore.
They had sent her series of emails prompting her to do a certain task all week long. She curiously clicked the link as she sat in a yoga pose like she was no longer on school grounds.
When she saw the task, her brows raised up in suspicion. “Create a firewall stronger than Qin Corporation?” She wondered why it was now a bar for how strong firewalls could be and hurriedly went to the web to see what she could find about the firewall. Back then when she had to break through it, she had seen that it was indeed a level above the technology that was moving around now.
After about ten minutes of reading, she came to understand that it had been an uncrossable firewall in an hacking competition that happened some months before she came back in time. Moreover, the person that had created the firewall himself was Qin Yichen!
Knowing that the Big bad Wolf was able to create something like that made her a lot impressed. She had thought that he was only good in the business aspect and didn’t expect that he would also be good at technology.
She sent the team a message to decline just as Song Jian entered the class. “I thought you would be long gone. How was your exam?” he said as he plopped down beside her.
“There’s some tests that the school arranged for me and Wu Hao for the upcoming competition.”
“Competition? Would you guys be awarded money?” he asked eagerly, making Rong Yue look up from the phone to look at him.
“I have no idea, I only accepted because it was the condition for me skipping evening classes.” she said with a shrug, however, she closed the page she was on and went to search for the competition online.
“There’s money to be won but I doubt the chance to enter the competition is still possible.” she told him as she passed her phone to him. Song Jian looked through all the details and sighed. “I had no idea something like this existed, I would have joined.” he said dejectedly, and Rong Yue squinted her eyes at him.
“Do you need money?” she had expected that he would need money and she was even planning to have them work together, however, she also needed to know if it was something urgent.
“Well, I want my sisters to enrol in proper schools and maybe eventually move out from where we stay, but for now, what I earn can only cover feeding and that bit of accommodation.” he explained and Rong Yue nodded in understanding.
“I was hoping we could work together actually, that is if you don’t mind of course.” she added the last part hurriedly so that he didn’t misunderstand her intentions.
“Are you serious? What kind of work?” Song Jian sat up urgently. From being friends with her, he already had an idea of how impressive this girl was and his feelings had quickly moved from being grateful, to being infatuated, to understanding that she was just that person that he could admire from afar.
He would never have imagined that she would consider him worthy of working together.
“The other day, you said something about your sister being good at making herbal medicine right.?” Rong Yue started and only continued when he nodded his head positively.
She then explained the idea that she had about starting a traditional medicine brand. With what she had in mind, the both of them could come together, with the two sisters being more active, all they had to do was guard all the recipes preciously and Rong Yue had the intention of getting a manager who would be someone she trusted.
“What do you think?” She brought herself to ask when she was done speaking and Song Jian had yet to make a sound.
“Errr..” Song Jian started and then scratched his hair, embarrassed.
“Are you going to talk or not?” Rong Yue asked as she shot him a glare.
“It’s a good plan. I just don’t think it’s going to be feasible at this stage that we are, if we were to start now... it would be the stage that needs a lot of money, but you know that not only do I not have money to do what I need to, I don’t have to spare into investing into this.” Song Jian finally managed to say.
Rong Yue burst out laughing.
“Who’s asking you for your money? If you think it’s a good plan then arrange a meeting with your siblings and let them meet my mother, if the both sides think they can work together, then I’ll start looking at the other things needed.” she said conclusively and Song Jian, who wanted to reply, kept quiet as students started to enter the classroom.
Everyone entered with a cheery mood as everyone started to throw textbooks that they didn’t need anymore. Song Jian stood up and picked one of the thrown textbooks with an intention to keep and give to his sisters.
“Leave it, you are too smart to not make money.” she chided as she pulled him back before the rowdy classmates could see, however, Sun Li, who had just entered the class and was coming directly towards the both of them saw this scene and felt her heart dampen instantly.
“Even if we don’t work together on this, we would work with something else. Besides, I have met your sisters and I would like to believe that they would have no problem working together.” Rong Yue assured him.
Before she could say more, Wu Hao came to call her for the test.
Since they didn’t have any hand in the entrance exams, all the teachers that taught the senior classes had some free time on hand and were all gathered in the staff room as soon as the both of them arrived.
“We have all brought out questions from topics that are usually in the preliminaries of the competition. As long as you get a good ranking on the preliminaries, that is already good enough.” one of the teachers said as he walked forward with some small stack of papers.
“Only the preliminaries?” Wu Hao asked in confusion, clearly not aware that their school had given up on fighting for the winning seat and just wanted to do better than the schools in this province.
“Do you think you can do any better than the preliminaries?” a teacher asked and then covered her mouth to hide her sniggers.
Wu Hao fists clenched slightly and teacher Lu came forward.
“That’s not important, the important thing now is taking this test and allowing us to understand how prepared you both are.”
