Chapter 178
It was Blake’s idea and this was the first time ever Blake had tried to combine his flame with Cyra’s.
It wasn’t really a wild idea considering the stuff that Blake had seen happen on TV whether it was fiction or even real-life news where human mages combine their spells together to create a stronger, more Robus spell.
But it was certainly something quite new to him.
The almost never-ending nether from Cyra then quickly flooded the gaps in between Blake and Cyra’s hands as a fireball with a color almost as dark as night, something that never happened in the first demon realm formed itself in between the four hands.
But Blake didn’t lose out either as his own nether was higher in quality compared to the residents of the first demon realm enabled him to cast second realm spells, blended in with the abundant amount of nether that Cyra had poured in, essentially making a source of dark flame that was not only outstanding in the quantity of nether but also the quality of it.
Blake had told Cyra what they needed to do, and the two of them were currently exerting a lot of their focus and willpower in keeping the dark flame fireball from rampaging around.
“Cyra, I can’t hold much more than this,” Blake said after a few more seconds had passed.
Hearing her brother’s words, Cyra then stopped pouring in her nether and instead focused on keeping the whole mass of dark flame fireball stable while Blake went to do something else.
.....
With Cyra keeping the whole mass of dark flame fireball alone, even she was finding it hard to hold it properly for a full 2 seconds.
Fortunately, Blake had finished whatever he was doing in no more than just a whole second.
The moment Cyra took control of the mass of dark flame and Blake was free from the task of keeping the abundant and dense nether from berserking out, Blake quickly drew a darkness bullet spell, aimed it at the front gate of the humanoid demon base, before placing the finished glowing runes right in the middle of the mass of dark flames.
“Release it, Cyra!” Blake half-shouted as he himself released the runes for the darkness bullet spell, letting the spell manifest itself.
The fiery darkness bullet that manifested from Blake using the ordinary darkness bullet spell and his fire bloodline power then formed inside the bundle of dark flames. And just like what happened when he combined an ordinary fireball with his darkness bullet, the bundle of dark flame that was a mix of his and Cyra’s nether was now attached to the darkness bullet, following it flying at literal bullet speed towards the closed front gate of the base.
The spot that the trio was currently in was quite a distance away from the front gate of the base, but due to how Blake intentionally choose the distance where the strength of his attacks wouldn’t diminish over that distance, the dark flame bullet was able to arrive in its destination in just a second, bringing along the abundant dark flame in its full power, crashing straight onto the front gate.
If a normal dark flame bullet was able to destroy a whole wooden wall, then an overcharged dark flame bullet from Cyra and Blake would definitely be able to do a bit more than that.
And a destroyed gate, a crumbled-down archway, and an explosion even taller than the trees were what the attack was able to do.
“Robus!” Blake spoke as he jumped to Robus’ location while spreading his wings.
“Have fun boys and girls!” Blake shouted before his body flew high up to the sky under the cover of the tall explosion of the dark flame bullet.
————————–
“That damned brute really likes to flail his arms around with his head held high...” It took him a lot of willpower, but he succeeded in refraining to spit once again after thinking about the muscular humanoid demon that had just led his army to continue their expedition through The Forest of The Beast.
It had been much or less 20 minutes after the troops of humanoid demons took off from the base with the muscular humanoid demon leading them.
“Bet he ran too fast and forced those demons to exert their strength more than necessary and drained their stamina before an important fight.” The forest green humanoid demon shook his head as he stared at the black stone walls in front of him.
He was currently inside the basement of the main building, the place where he would often visit when he wasn’t exploring out into the forest.
He had intentionally made the walls and the ceiling of the basement with the black stones that were brought in from the nether rich zone which was also a danger zone due to the abundant amount of variants living inside it.
The black stones were like living and breathing stones that cycled nether through its body to make itself much stronger and more durable compared to other stones, making it the perfect material for the forest green humanoid demon’s training ground.
The black stones actually had other use, and it was the perfect material to create rune formations on as they could hasten the activating process of the rune formations due to their nature of cycling through nether.
However, the forest green humanoid demon wasn’t a runemaster, and he wasn’t able to capitalize on that advantage.
The only one of them who was a runemaster was the scrawny humanoid demon that lived in the central base of the main continent, the second in command after the muscular demon.
“Those two creatures were the same. One was conceited because of a lucky bloodline power while the other used its rune formations to defeat us with tricks...”
The hierarchy of the demons was very easy to determine. The one that was stronger wins. That was basically it. It doesn’t have to be a complete raw strength, but the ability to outplay their enemies with their wits or abilities was also considered as strength.
The forest green humanoid demon, though, believed otherwise and thought that real strength was all that really matters.
‘If not for that brute’s bloodline power or that old coot’s rune formations, I would be the strongest...’ The forest green humanoid demon thought to himself as he stomped his feet on the ground while his hands were drawing a set of runes.
Not even a second had passed and the forest green humanoid demon had finished drawing the runes.
The runes flashed and disappeared before the ground around the forest green humanoid demon’s body trembled slightly.
And despite the lack of trees, bushes, or any kind of plants around him, thick roots that were the same as the roots of the trees outside the base sprouted from the ground and headed directly to the wall of dark stone in front of the forest green humanoid demon.
The tree roots weren’t just a forearm thick or a few inches thick, the tree roots that manifested from a single spell of the forest green humanoid demon were as thick as a man and the sheer appearance of it looked as if it was even stronger than the original roots that the trees in the forest had.
And as if the spell wasn’t just a simple spell to stab his enemies with a man-sized root, the roots that came out of the ground didn’t just move in a straight line, but rather followed the movement of the forest humanoid demon’s hands, twisting and turning around before hitting the wall.
It was the reason why he believed he was the strongest one out of the humanoid demons that were chosen to ascend the realm and do their mission.
The runes that he got when he ate enough souls, or in Blake’s terms, leveled up, the standard practice of how the other humanoid demon mages learn to cast spells without being taught a spell, gave the forest green humanoid demon the ability to control his spells even after it had manifested, similar to what Cyra was capable of doing with her flames.
Though the case with her was different due to her being a variant and can control her flames as if it was a part of her limbs.
That ability, for regular humanoid demons, was not common and even the scrawny humanoid demon in the central base didn’t have that rune in his arsenal of runes to be integrated into a rune formation or a new spell.
The forest green humanoid demon had the most confidence when the organization had told him to join in the important mission to ascend to the realms, but when he learned that there were two other demons above him in rank, he didn’t accept it and tried to fight the position over.
However, the muscular humanoid demon’s bloodline power and the old scrawny humanoid demon’s rune formations proved to be much more broken and stronger than his prided rune, making the forest green humanoid demon’s attempt to snatch the leader position to be in vain.
And even now, he was still learning more of his own spell and tried to learn how his idiotic kin in charge of the other humanoid demon base was able to cast 4 spells at the same time.
That ability wasn’t anything too special compared to his rune or the rune formations, or even the bloodline power, but if the forest green humanoid demon learned how to use that ability, then his strength would grow significantly, giving him the ability to challenge the old scrawny humanoid demon again and deal with the rune formations better with the ability to cast 4 of the thick roots at the same time and controlling them.
He didn’t have much time to practice and spent a lot of time trying things out due to the expedition duty that he had to carry out, but now that it had been transferred over to the muscular humanoid demon, the forest green humanoid demon would finally have time for himself.
However, before the forest green humanoid demon was able to cast another spell, a very loud boom resounded, piercing through the walls of his building and even the floors, making him able to hear the loud explosion even from his basement.
He didn’t know what had happened, but recalling something that had happened to his kin about a week ago, the forest green humanoid demon quickly went out of his basement and checked the condition of his base.
