Chapter 146

He had thought about using the darkness element barrier first as his first-choice method of isolation but decided that he should try out another method first, which was the dark earth dome.

However, the reason why he chose the darkness element barrier as the second prototype instead of the first one was because of how weak it was compared to the dark earth dome.

The darkness barrier could be made to be a strong barrier if it were to be supplied with constant nether, and it could even rival the toughness of a dark earth dome if it was supplied with enough nether.

However, with just a simple train of thought coming from that statement, the darkness barrier was able to be as tough as the dark earth dome, but it would consume a huge amount of nether.

A resource that Blake had a finite number of in the short amount of time that it needed to supply the darkness barrier.

He could regenerate his nether naturally just by living and breathing, but he couldn’t do that while keeping a constant supply of nether to the darkness elemental barrier.

Hence why in terms of raw toughness, the darkness barrier was far inferior to the dark earth constructs that were able to give a level of defense that was even strong enough to hold out for a significant amount of time against creatures of Robus’ caliber with just a really small portion of nether compared to using the darkness element barrier.

However, the dark earth dome also had its own problems when being compared to the darkness elemental barrier.

.....

One of the most obvious reasons was that there was no way for Blake to disassemble the dark earth dome by just using a simple spell as he did with the darkness element.

And leaving a very huge earth dome just standing there would certainly attract more attention than Blake would have wanted.

There was already one huge earth dome standing some distance away from the base of the humanoid demons and if there were several more appearing out of nowhere, the humanoid demons would certainly notice that something very suspicious was going on no matter how slow their minds were.

And remembering what Vera had said about the rune formations that the humanoid demons had magically been able to use, Blake was also aware of the fact that there would be humanoid demons that came from the deeper realms.

Even though he didn’t know anything about the humanoid demons that came from the deeper realms other than Vera alone, it was safe for Blake to assume that they would be much more intelligent than the native of the first demon realm and would be able to recognize something unusual happening if dark earth domes would appear in the base’s surroundings.

And not saying that the one who was able to fight inside the dark earth dome would be him and not Robus since the sense of sight inside the dark earth dome was really not available due to the pitch-black environment and their inability to see in the dark.

With these points popping up in Blake’s head, the dark earth barrier was certainly a much better option to use.

And Blake had also agreed with his own thoughts that the darkness element barrier was a much better option to use in his circumstances.

However, if he and Robus were fighting a stronger enemy, then none of the two barriers would be suitable for the task of isolating the sounds from being heard and being able to fight the enemy inside of the dome.

The darkness barrier would be too fickle for someone’s in Robus’ caliber as Blake would be spending tons of nether to maintain the barrier if it were the case, and the dark earth dome would simply limit his and Robus’ ability to fight since they couldn’t see a single thing.

And that was precisely why Blake came up with a third option if he and Robus were to face against a relatively strong enemy that the darkness barrier couldn’t just hold off easily.

And currently, the two of them are testing it.

There weren’t any strong enemies they could find inside the forest and somehow there were only demonic beasts with mediocre strength that was worth 4 souls, none was stronger than that.

And that was why they were testing the third option on another unfortunate group of humanoid demons.

It was also their objective after all, farming souls from the humanoid demons, so Blake didn’t have any objections to testing out his third prototype of the isolation rune formation on them.

Just like before, Blake patiently waited for the moment when the humanoid demons were not on their guards and they were relatively close to each other before starting his test.

Again, 4 thudding sounds were heard all around the humanoid demons, and the objects that were thrown around the humanoid demons were glowing, catching the humanoid demons’ attention.

However, different from before when there were either 4 wooden balls or 4 wooden cubes that were thrown to 4 different sides of the humanoid demons’ group.

Now, there were 2 wooden balls and 2 wooden cubes each that were thrown in 4 directions that encompassed the humanoid demons’ group.

The two wooden balls and two wooden cubes then flashed before the earth around the humanoid demon group began to tremble slightly just for a split second before a dark earth construct rose from the ground.

But instead of making a full-sized dark earth dome, the dark earth constructs stopped halfway towards creating a completed dome before being continued by a darkness elemental barrier that completed the top half of the dome.

And now, the group of humanoid demons was once again trapped inside yet another dome.

The lower half of the dome was made from the strong and very hard-to-destroy dark earth construct while the top half was made from the not-so-strong darkness element barrier, yet it was strong enough while also letting the red sun’s light pass through its body, making the inside of the dome not completely pitch-black.

And of course, before the dome closed off and isolated the space inside it from the surroundings, a huge gorilla had made its way inside the dome, accompanying the humanoid demons inside it.
