Chapter 104
But in front of him, there were two of his enemies.
And one of them, who was a demon mage, was a step faster than him and it had already activated the spell that it drew while Blake still had his two prepared spells held in his hands.
Blake was definitely not expecting to see a spell aimed towards him the moment he turned his back to launch his own prepared spells, but that didn’t mean that he was frozen still as well.
The moment he saw the runes in front of the smaller humanoid demon on top of the bulkier one flashed, Blake’s eyes quickly scanned the runes and matched the runes that he saw with the ones he knew in his head.
It was just a quick scan since Blake knew that he didn’t have much time, but his photographic memory was able to take all the runes that flashed for a brief second and recorded them perfectly in his mind.
And when the runes had been inputted into his head, his brain then began to work as he searched for any similar runes that he had seen before.
The search ended as soon as it began as Blake instantly found matching runes with the set of runes that he had just seen in his head.
And it was none other than the set of runes that were used by the first greenish demon that he had met along with the brownish demon.
.....
It was almost the exact same rune, except for the lack of the darkness element runes, so Blake quickly determined what he should do in the second that it needed for the spell to manifest itself.
First, Blake let go of the two spells that he had in his hands.
And of course, Blake didn’t cancel them. Instead, he released both of them at the same time, aiming the dark earth spike right below the bulky humanoid demon’s body.
His initial plan was to use Vera’s darkness binding spell to catch the bulky humanoid demon off guard to get a genuine, reflexive reaction from the bulky demon before setting out the real finisher, the dark earth spike on the place where the bulky humanoid demon tried to dodge the initial spell.
But now he was in a hurry, Blake could only resort to manifesting the two spells at the same time as he still had his own safety to worry about.
He had already put on his dark earth armor again ever since he had decided the plan to deal with the bulky humanoid demon.
But still, knowing that the spell that was about to manifest below him was a restrictive type of spell, the dark earth armor wouldn’t help much in countering that except for making sure that he didn’t receive bruises and cuts from the sharp plant roots.
So right after Blake released his two spells, Blake quickly ran nether through his wings and jumped backward as hard as he could, not caring whether there were boulders, bushes, or trees behind him as long as he got away from his current location.
The difference between someone who knew the runes that made up a spell and someone who only knew how to cast spells was evident in the exchange between Blake and the two humanoid demons.
Blake, who knew what spell was about to come at him just from seeing the runes flash and disappeared right in front of his eyes, already knew what to expect and was able to formulate a proper reaction to it, dodging the plant roots entirely from catching him.
On the other hand, the two humanoid demons weren’t able to do that.
The greenish demon was a demon mage and was more sensitive towards the movement of nether around it compared to the bulky humanoid demon that clearly relied on its huge body and not fully functioning wings, and the greenish demon was able to detect nether faster.
But it wasn’t able to anticipate what spell would come at it, or where it would come from.
So when the greenish demon suddenly felt a surge of nether gathering beneath its body, the greenish demon quickly hit the bulky demon’s shoulder while repeatedly saying,
“Jumghp Bacgh! Jumghp Bacgh!! Jumghp Bacgh!!!” In a hurry.
The bulky demon had a good reflex.
And when the greenish demon hit its shoulders while repeating the same instruction three times, the bulky demon quickly followed the instructions instantly after it heard the instructions for the first time and put all of its strength on its leg to kick off the ground and jumped backward.
Right at the last moment, just after the bulky demon’s feet jumped back, the ground where it was standing a split second ago cracked open as dozens of darkness tendrils made their way out of the ground.
And as if the dozens of darkness tendrils were not intimidating enough, from the center of the darkness tendril, a huge earth spike, huge enough to nail the two humanoid demons, sprouted and fortunately stabbed into thin air instead of two bodies.
The strong physique and the wings that made the bulky humanoid demon’s body way lighter than it actually was were the MVPs that saved the two humanoid demons from facing a certain sudden death from a single variant/humanoid demon.
The greenish demon, who had just realized how close itself was to death, quickly sharpened its senses even more and be more alert to its surroundings as it was afraid there were more spells coming towards itself.
Knowing that it was currently facing against a variant, the greenish demon was already cautious from the start, hence its lightning-quick reaction when it felt the surge of nether beneath its body, and it had saved its life.
The greenish demon took a glance to the front, the place where it had aimed its root binding spell only to see the roots that came out of the ground found nothing to latch themselves to.
The greenish demon’s eyes then started darting left and right before it finally found the variant type demon that it was looking for.
But just as how it had caught the variant type demon off guard at first, the greenish demon was now on the receiving end as it saw two sets of runes had already flashed in front of its eyes the moment it laid its eyes on the variant type demon.
