Chapter 13
Vera had never told him about places that were off-limits for him or ‘don’t go into these places.’ The only thing that she told him when he asked her whether he could explore the forest was to keep himself safe and just run back to the isolated space if he met an opponent that he couldn’t defeat.
And of course, Blake being a curious creature in nature, added with the fact that he was now several times stronger, fitter than before, and his proficiency in controlling the nether to cast all kinds of darkness spells, have the confidence in him to check what had released such a strong and domineering roar that reverberated throughout the forest.
“They say curiosity killed the cat, but if the cat can cast demonic spells, I don’t think the cat will die,” Blake muttered before deciding to go closer to the source of the roar.
“Ah, I almost forgot!”
After eating the four boar souls and storing two boar bodies inside the spatial bag, Blake then began running towards the unexplored area.
(9/15 Souls)
.....
Blake ran at full speed at first since he didn’t know what had happened on the other side of the forest and he didn’t want to miss out on that, but when he finally got closer to the source of the sound, Blake slowed down tremendously as he could finally hear something else other than the loud roars that occasionally rang aloud in his ears.
And it was a loud dull sound as if trees were crashing their trunks against each other. Blake didn’t know the logic behind how such a thing could even happen, but just from the sound he could only describe such as that or two boulders were hitting themselves with each other, which was more unbelievable if you really tried to imagine it.
As he walked even closer, Blake could even feel slight vibrations in the air every time he heard the loud dull sound. But he didn’t back down, instead, Blake had gotten even more curious about what had caused such a thing to happen, and he quickened his steps forward while raising his cautiousness to the maximum.
Blake was now so close to the source of the sound and he literally felt the vibration running up his body. He could already see something in the distance like two beasts fighting each other, but because of the dense trees blocking his way, he couldn’t see them clearly.
So Blake drew a few simple runes with his right hand and cast a spell. A single darkness tendril then shot out from his right hand, and with Blake aiming his right hand toward a thick tree branch, the darkness tendril then latched itself onto the tree branch with its other end still connected with Blake’s right hand.
Then with a thought, Blake commanded the darkness tendril to pull himself up the tree branch so that he could see the two beasts that were clashing with each other and causing so much noise and disturbance in the forest.
And now that he was up on the tree branch, without anything blocking his way, he finally saw two huge figures that were brawling and trading punches with each other.
Blake was certain that he had never seen them in the forest before, but that didn’t mean that he hadn’t seen anything like them in his life before. In fact, he had seen something that looked similar to the two beasts back when he was in third grade on his school’s field trip to the zoo.
With two arms and two legs, a hunched back, and big burly bodies, with fur covering their whole bodies, the creatures that were currently fighting against each other were two gorillas.
But of course, the two gorillas didn’t look like ordinary gorillas that were only 1,5 to 2 meters (6 ft 5in) tall. The two gorillas that caused the air to vibrate every time they clashed against each other were so big that Blake’s whole body was only as big and long as their arm.
Blake watched as the two gorillas hit each other’s faces with their huge fists and none of the two seemed to be backing down from each other. And just like watching a heavyweight boxing match where the two fighters were aggressive fighters, Blake’s eyes were glued to their fight.
At first, the fight looked equal, but after watching for a couple of minutes, Blake realized that one of the two gorillas was actually superior to the other one.
Not only was its punch packed with more power behind it and caused the other gorilla to grit its teeth every time a punch landed squarely on any part of its body, but its reflexes were also better than the other one. It was able to dodge more attacks in their exchange of attacks.
Blake thought the fight would soon end after the superior gorilla landed a square hit on the other gorilla’s face and proceeded with a series of combo punches that also squarely landed on the other gorilla’s body.
However, Blake was completely wrong as the moment the weaker gorilla almost fell to the ground after being hit by the superior gorilla’s attacks, the weaker gorilla released another thunderous roar, and runes started appearing on the weaker gorilla’s chest.
And in the next second, black, brownish rocks started appearing on the weaker gorilla’s chest before they spread all over the weaker gorilla’s body, creating a dark brown stone armor that covered its whole body, only leaving a section of its eyes and nose open for it to see and breath.
Seeing that the weaker Gorilla had activated its rune, the superior Gorilla also activated its own runes. However, different from the weaker gorilla who essentially got a full-body armor, the superior gorilla only had its chest, knuckles, and head covered by the dark brown stone armor.
‘Woah... it would really be a boulder hitting itself to another boulder with this...’ Blake muttered to himself while seeing the two transformed gorillas.
After each of them finished activating their own runes, they began their clash once again.
With their bodies now covered in the dark brownish rocks, the sounds and vibration that they created every time they were hitting each other became much more intense that Blake had unconsciously held onto the tree branch tighter, afraid that he would fall down from the vibration that he felt in the air.
Initially, the fight went on just like before they transformed, with the superior gorilla having faster reflexes and more strength in his attack. But this time, as the fight goes on, the superior Gorilla was put at a huge disadvantage as his attacks were being stopped by the weaker gorilla’s full body armor, while the weaker gorilla purposely targeted the superior gorilla’s body on the spots where there weren’t any of the dark brown armor.
As a result, the more the fight went on, the superior gorilla now had become the weaker one as more and more wounds piled up in its body, and ended in the full body armor gorilla’s victory, as it kicked the fallen gorilla’s body that was already lying weakly on the ground.
