Chapter 314
“Then set course for Loch Ness star.”
“Yes, captain.... course all laid in.”
“Maximum warp.”
“Yes, captain.”
Three warships hovering among the stars vanished into deep space.
Inside the briefing room, two elite squads were sitting around the table, and others were connected through Sheba as they were in other warships or at Capital Star military headquarters.
From the discussions, people didn’t seem to be in agreement. The generals scattered all over the Federation were also in discord. Some of them didn’t think it was worth sending this many teams to Loch Ness Star. They thought it was reckless and unnecessary.
“Loch Ness star has five flash points and the coordinates are all on your screens. The sixth team would be dedicated to protecting the capital city and the prime minister’s office. We have also implemented a shield system in case this entire plan fails and god forbid Loch Ness star goes under attack... the shield will at least minimize the explosive impact throughout the federation... hopefully it will hold up.”
.....
As soon as he stopped talking some of the generals began to murmur expressing their discontent.
“If the shield is in place why are we sending so much personnel to Loch Ness star? Not only are we deploying the federation’s top squads but three warships will also be protecting the entire planet. Three... not one, not two but three.”
“That leaves the rest of Onyx federation vulnerable well, except Capital Star of course.”
The voices became louder but the Marshal and his admirals remained silent so did the six squads that were under discussion.
Zi Han was sitting with his back slouched in the briefing room making him an outlier since everybody else was sitting with their backs straight.
He was bored already. He could see why they were dissatisfied and, to be honest, he felt like something big was going on behind the curtain but it wasn’t any of his business.
He set his elbow on the table as he rubbed his temple with his index finger. Glancing at the wheel of the chair in front of him he could see Shorty’s fluffy blue head peeking from the back of the chair. Yep, don’t ask when he dyed his hair that color but it looked really good on him.
Zi Han’s lips quirked up into a malicious smile. With the tip of his shoe, he tapped the wheels of the seat in front of him. Shorty who was trying to be the most well-behaved soldier he could be felt something bump his seat from behind but ignored it thinking it was accidental.
But then it happened again and again and again. Shorty didn’t want to turn around but Zi Han was really messing with him. He glanced at him at the corner of his eye and Zi Han winked at him.
Shorty, “...”
‘He wants me dead doesn’t he?’ thought Shorty as he glanced away only for him to meet Yi Chen’s piercing gaze making him jolt in fright.
Yi Chen went back to staring at Zi Han and as expected he was ignored again. That’s because this morning when they were doing that, he um.... got there and then passed out. Yi Chen wasn’t sure if that was what Zi Han was upset about because when he woke up the man was gone and lo and behold he had a ring on his finger which he couldn’t remove by the way.
He tried calling him and messaging him but the man didn’t answer or reply back.
Because of his family, he delayed reaching the docks and Zi Han had already left with the rest of the squad for the warship. When he finally caught up with him the briefing was about to start and Zi Han didn’t hold a seat for him.
He was already sitting between Shorty and Shannon. The man wasn’t even looking at him despite staring at him for so long. If he was being honest Yi Chen felt like he was invisible to him.
He had to witness his lover chat it up or mess with everyone else but him. Usually, Zi Han’s entire attention was always on him and now that it wasn’t it felt awful.
He just wanted these old farts to finish speaking so he could apologize and then ask him the meaning of this ring. The longer this meeting went on the harder it was for him. He became extremely restless and he exhibited it by subconsciously tapping on the table.
The argument between the generals suddenly escalated and turned into a screaming match.
Marshal Yi who had been watching this in silence finally had enough. He disconnected everyone else apart from the generals so he could have a good talk with them.
The screen suddenly went black leaving everyone gobsmacked. Zi Han, who had anticipated things will go in this direction put his feet up on the table crossing them at the ankles while asking, “Does it mean we can go? I want to go and eat some ice cream cake.”
Hela glanced down at her light brain before saying, “We already know our posts when we get there. Everyone should take advantage of these two days and rest.”
After she said that some people got up and left. Shorty also stood up and wanted to say something but he felt like this wasn’t the right time seeing that a north easterly wind was springing up.
“What?..,” asked Zi Han.
“Will you stop calling me a smurf?” he said intending to drop that one sentence before running away but Shaun had to chime in.
“He really doesn’t like it but he looks cute though,” said Shaun pulling at Shorty’s cheek while laughing.
“Ow,” yelped Shorty.
“I called him Smurfette, not a smurf there is a difference,” said Zi Han before taking out a packet of candy to give to Shorty.
“That’s even worse... What? So you think a packet of candy will solve everything?” asked Shorty only for Zi Han to flip the packet around revealing a sticky note.
“My mum said I should give this to her number one fan,” he said only for Shorty to grab the packet and sell his soul in the process.
“You can call me Smurfette all you want,” said Shorty before he ran off lest Zi Han changed his mind.
While these two were arguing about the candy Zi Han felt someone tap him on the shoulder. When he looked back he saw Shannon looking at his hands.
“What’s up with the gloves?” she asked as she got up.
Zi Han was tired of people asking him that question thus he said, “I developed OCD recently so... only for Shannon to look past him before interrupting,
“You two have to talk. I will see you later, okay?”
Zi Han glanced back and found Yi Chen sitting on the table near his ankles and when he looked around everyone was gone.
