Chapter 563

BOOM!

After being contemptuously thrown at his companions and knocking them down like skittles, the man fainted as foam dripped from his mouth. This man was not the first to go through such humiliation and pain, but he was the last; Aisha hadn’t left anyone standing.

In addition to the people that Aisha had brutally and humiliatingly beaten up, there were a few mangled corpses here and there. Given the lack of burns on them, it was safe to say that it wasn’t Aisha’s doing. Those people died at the hands of Desmond when they tried to work as a team to assassinate Aisha with a sneak attack.

Because Aisha was too excited, she didn’t notice this group of individuals. Desmond intervened when he realized they were enough to hurt Aisha a bit.

Having finished de-stressing, Aisha breathed a huge sigh of satisfaction as she brushed the imaginary dust off her hands. “The next time you meet a woman, ensure you are respectful and kind. Scum like you is destined to die alone if it doesn’t change for the better.”

Like a bunch of kids scolded by a teacher, the still-living scouts nodded. Aisha looked satisfied and walked away from them; not even three steps later, she had already forgotten about the whole thing.

“We should go.” Desmond commented as Aisha walked up to him. Aisha saw the seriousness in Desmond’s eyes and nodded. She knew that not all the people coming to this place would be weaklings, so it was better to leave to avoid conflicts.

Watching the demon duo leave, the battered scouts cheered with tired voices. Hell was over; they wanted to go home to sleep with their wives and hug their children. This place was not worth dying for.

.....

But fate was cruel, extremely cruel. Barely a dozen seconds after Desmond and Aisha left, a terrifying pressure descended on the cave. Calm and steady footsteps deafened the entire cave. And from the entrance of one of the tunnels, a blue-skinned man with four arms and an icy aura around him appeared.

“Where is the gem?” The man asked with chilling coldness, but instead of waiting for an answer, he started killing everyone on the spot as soon as he felt the gem was no longer in the cave.

Desmond and Aisha, who had barely made it less than a hundred meters through another tunnel, heard the man’s question and the scouts’ cries of agony. The pressure from someone in the three-star class made both of them feel some fear, even when that person wasn’t even aiming at them.

Without even thinking, Desmond and Aisha suppressed their energy fluctuations to a minimum. They tried to move as fast as possible. At first, they both felt like they were moving away from the pressure source, but it didn’t take long for the pressure to get stronger.

Desmond wanted to curse out loud. The person chasing them was a freaking monster like Camila, that female knight who almost annihilated him even when she was just playing with him. Instinctively, Desmond could sense that this person hadn’t detected them yet, but it was only a matter of time.

Desmond was thinking of a way to escape from this individual. He knew that fighting him was seeking death even at his best; in his current state, even running away was unlikely. As his vision blurred, Desmond was pulled out of his thoughts and felt a harsh tug on his neck.

As his gaze adjusted, Desmond saw that Aisha had dragged him into a small cave to the side of the tunnel they had been running through a second ago. The place was quite small, with barely a dozen square meters of space. It was small, but it was not something that someone would pass through the tunnel next door.

Desmond wondered what Aisha’s plan was, but his questions were answered a second later. All the magma lines, including the pattern on Aisha’s chest, glowed faintly. A second later, a portion of the ground turned into magma under Aisha’s control.

With a wave of Aisha’s hand, the magma jumped out. It covered the cave entrance before solidifying and creating what now looked like a natural stone wall. Only residual heat remained to indicate something was wrong with that wall. Regardless, Desmond reacted quickly, using water mana to bring the temperature down as quickly as possible.

It took a couple of seconds for Desmond to be satisfied. Still, he didn’t even breathe a sigh of relief before the pressure on the area increased. Desmond and Aisha stood somewhat stiff as they fell silent, waiting for the threat to pass.

On this occasion, the goddess of fortune took pity on her ungrateful son, and it took only a dozen seconds for the pressure to ease on the spot. Desmond and Aisha remained cautious, not daring to leave the cave, instead opting to rest for a bit.

The duo’s decision was correct, as just a dozen minutes later, the pressure dropped on the area again. The process was repeated several times until the pressure stopped returning. Only after an hour had passed in peace did Desmond and Aisha dare to relax.

“How are you?” Aisha was the first to speak quietly.

Seeing no need to keep up appearances, Desmond answered honestly. “Exhausted, wounded, and out of mana.”

Aisha smiled wearily and replied. “Pretty much the same. The potions help, but I thought we should rest.”

Desmond nodded and, without much thought, began pulling one thing after another out of his hunter’s book. Seeing as Desmond took out an entire living room, dining room, and kitchen, even Aisha, who was lugging around a forge, found it a bit over the top. Desmond didn’t pay too much attention to such details; he was like that. When he tried to rest or relax, he left behind his calm demeanor, his always hidden ferocity and let the carefree demeanor of the wind wash over him.

Desmond also had reasons for acting like this; he had noticed that the rocks in this place had a strong insulating property. Desmond’s mana sensitivity couldn’t penetrate a single inch of stone. With the meter-thick wall of rock separating them from the outside of this cave, it was safe to say they would not be found in this place.

It didn’t take long for Aisha to be infected by Desmond’s calmness and coolness, who even started cooking and making tea. Aisha plopped down on a small sofa that Desmond had placed in the cave and rested with a smile as she watched Desmond cook.

In no time, Desmond and Aisha moved from resting to eating, then relaxing over a steaming cup of tea. “I didn’t expect you to be so good at making tea,” Aisha commented with playful interest.

Desmond smiled wryly and answered truthfully. “I have no such ability. This herbal mixture is something that one of my lovers gave me. I only know how to boil water and put herbs inside it. Compared to her, my skill is nothing to speak of.”

Interestingly, Aisha didn’t react much when Desmond mentioned another woman, even when he called her his lover. Desmond thought that was normal since he didn’t think Aisha would see him that way. He didn’t know that Aisha didn’t care for different reasons.

“As expected, a man like him must definitely have more than one woman by his side. It’s like mom said: most men are scum; that’s why the good ones have a lot of women.” Aisha thought matter-of-factly. God only knew if her mentality was racial or the result of his mother’s upbringing.

One thing was for sure, as a race made up of only females with a life expectancy so absurd that it borders on immortality, their notion of relationships was quite peculiar.

Just as Kyuru processed emotions, relationships, and intimacy differently, Aisha was the same. Her standards were simply different from human standards.

Seeing Aisha blink curiously instead of showing an adverse reaction, Desmond started a short conversation about his situation and other everyday things to kill time.

Aisha listened carefully, and soon the two of them began to share some stories about their adventures and the strange things they had encountered. Aisha could hardly believe that Desmond had encountered a Celestial on more than one occasion. Those beings were considered the top of the food chain in the entire multiverse.

“Some of the best craftswomen of my race have dealings with many celestials, but seeing them is still a rarity. After all, the best craftswomen of my race are ancient entities tens of thousands of years old and have power beyond my comprehension.” Aisha added.

Desmond didn’t find it exaggerated. He always had the impression that no matter how powerful he found Katya, what he had seen was just the tip of the iceberg. Katya’s power to see the future alone was absurd enough. One could imagine what kind of monsters there were in her race.

As if she remembered, Aisha widened her eyes in surprise and said. “Come to think of it; you’re a hunter. You have that book of yours that breaks things down. Why don’t you use it to analyze the two gems and the flower’s core?”
