Chapter 933 T.D.O.N.B: S1J, Part II - Overlord Overload
I was expecting to be hit by some powerful attack, and even rushed to the side to get some speed, so it would be harder for him, but I actually never expected to be blasted from an entirely different location.
A burst of electrical energy fell from the sky, pushing me down. I somehow endured enough of it to create a barrier at an angle, that pushed me out of the stream before breaking, then I only went faster, trying to spot the source of the attack.
It was another overlord. This one though had a blue uniform and was holding a perfectly spherical orb in his hand. It was semitranslucent like made out of glass, but there was also something inside, giving at least part of it, in the very center, a slightly different color.
After his attack, there was a giant hole in the middle of the city. So vast that you probably could fit an entire district inside, and so deep that you wouldn't even be able to see it from the outside.
It became very clear to me that I needed to stick close to one of them, so the other wouldn't be able to freely attack me, but before I was able to change my direction, and close the distance, a blue web of electricity appeared almost everywhere around me. It was stretching as far and as wide as I could see.
The charge hit me, slowing me down just enough for the overlord in red to trap me in the prison of mirrors once again.
- Fucking asshole - I growled through my gritted teeth.
The fight barely started and I already was feeling somewhat taxed. I was burning through the energy in various forms at a slightly too fast pace.
I broke the prison, as I did it before, just to be blasted away by another gargantuan beam of electricity, then sent me flying. Locking myself in place was a bad move, so I didn't do it, instead ejected another barrier, at an angle, to slip away from the stream.
It decimated the agglomeration below even further, leaving a melted river behind.
I clearly needed a distraction, because the two overlords cooperating, were capable enough to keep me at by, so I summoned the moloch. A gigantic hand shot from the side, midair, trying to grab the gentlemen in blue. Second, later the rest of the dark, gigantic body, shower up, but It was unable to do anything.
The creature got torn apart by the mysterious ability. Definitely not a telekinetic one.
The opening for me was slim, but it existed, so I attempted to use it. I swung my blade two times because that was as much as I could do, sending the 'Hunting strikes' at the alien in red. His response was to trap me in the prison of mirrors, but it broke on its own, at the same moment as my strikes landed.
It was distracting enough for him, to lose concentration. He started to heal himself, as he retreated, while the other guy, the one in blue, was trying to snipe me down with the beams of electric energy.
I avoided them, pursuing the wounded enemy, trying to finish him off. I was able to use the 'Hunting strike' a few times more, but I didn't want to at the moment, since It could be useful in the near future, and right now I had an opportunity to strike him with a regular attack.
I was faster than him, so I bought up after a fraction of a second worth of chase, decimating the city below with each of my steps, then I swung the weapon.
He blocked it, ejecting a barrier, but I expected such a move and used a 'Heaven-carving blade' and 'Spirit blade', making my weapon pass through, and cut not his flesh, but his spirit. Despite no blood or wound, you could see his reaction, as I got him.
The barrier he made, fell apart since he wasn't able to withstand my attack, which gave me a clear shot to punch him with my left. That's exactly what I did, using 'Shattering blow'. The veins popped all over his body, making his muscle seize, locking the body.
I was about to finish him off with another strike, but I got blasted away by his blue friend. I gave him enough time to prepare an elaborate attack. He gathered a lot of power, creating a familiar web of electricity, but this time in the sky, and he focused it in a single stream, just above me.
That's what hit me, blasting me down. My skin was melting from the sheer force of energy gathered in this one spot. I tried to slip away as I did before, but it was damn hard. Each barrier I produce instantly broke, moving me only slightly away, but a couple of them later, I was able to find my way out.
I flew between the buildings, trying to find a good hiding spot.
I was pretty badly wounded, and all my clothes were destroyed. With a quick heal, I fixed what I could, then kept rushing forward, trying to lose the overlord who inevitably was tracing me. 'Hide presence' came quite in handy.
My speed wasn't that fast, but I passed quite some distance, escaping the immediate vicinity of that battlefield of mine. Away from that spot, I noticed a couple of guardians searching the city for intruders. They didn't notice me, but I was able to notice something.
In a spot where some fight definitely had to happen, surrounded by rubble, was Druoag. He was laying lifeless surrounded by a few aliens, some heavily wounded, and even more bloody bodies. He fell, taking down plenty.
The view hurt my heart. I felt this piercing sensation, that even for a moment managed to get me angry enough to consider flying up and tearing apart the overlord waiting there for me. Then the skills calming my mind kicked in.
