Chapter 806 T.D.O.N.B: Wind In The Eyes
I didn't need to think too hard to come up with what I could find in that particular place. The whirlwinds make it quite obvious.
Air elementals were living in that place. I was sure about it even before closing the distance. I confirmed my thoughts even before landing, as I was attacked midair by invisible winds, which put me off my trajectory in quite a violent way. I was sent spinning to crash into the ground, but I managed to get a hold of myself. The skill to control air was crucial to achieving that, as I took over the elementals, and was able to safely land shortly after.
The area was completely flat with a lot of dust being picked up by the strong winds. Even small pebbles were flying around.
Thanks to this I was able to finally see the elementals. Not directly, but all the garbage made it possible to distinguish one from the other.
Thanks to the skill I didn't really have to fight them, which was another good thing because it could be very annoying if I wasn't able to see them first. This combined with the fact that I didn't have to find my way through the dungeon, made the whole process of getting to the boss quite quick.
Obviously, the creature was hiding in the eyes of the storm. It was a bit annoying to get past the strong, roaring winds, as they were able to pick me up, and also constantly sprayed dust and stones at me, but I 'Control air' my way through.
Inside was surprisingly peaceful. Very dark, because the incoming light was dimmed by a lot thanks to all the dust swirling around. The ground was actually paved with stone plates combining themselves into a nice circle. They all had symbols engraved on the surface. The world tree and the throne are among a bunch of random stuff.
In the middle of the space was the boss. A gray, constantly shifting wind. Like a morphing cloud. small bolts of lightning were jumping from one part to the other. The creature turned to face me, and I noticed those two bright yellowish spots, which awfully looked like eyes. Especially for me since I've seen the same thing a moment before, in its blue and red versions.
I was welcomed quite warmly. With a lightning bolt striking from the elements straight at me.
I was fast, but not fast enough to escape that, but it barely did anything to me, except burn a fucking hole in my hoodie. I managed to avoid that for so long, putting quite a lot of effort into that, but the damn boss ruined it all.
- Fuck you - I yelled at him and then bombarded him with a few dozen of fireballs shot straight from my extended hand.
The sound of consecutive explosions shook the area, and they cloud of flames got sucked by the swirling winds, which quickly turned the normally grey whirlwind into a bright orange version.
The oxygen got completely sucked out of the vicinity, but since the fire made by my magic was moved, I was able to see the spot where the elemental was present just a moment before. He was gone, instead, there was a crystal laying on the ground. I picked it up, then escaped to catch a breath outside.
When I landed, I saw the glow behind me. It soon vanished completely, and when I looked over my shoulder, the whirlwind was gone, but the air around me was full of small very hot points drifting through the space and vanishing.
Quite a beautiful view. To think it was made by the pebbles melted into lava. Something so regular could be so pretty.
Since the clock was ticking, and the night was approaching, thanks to my overall sluggishness in the matter of clearing the hunting grounds, I moved immediately. I flew up to check for another spot, and I found it quite quickly.
Mainly thanks to the overall flatness of the land around me. It was a forest of some sort, but because of the distance I could only say that the trees looked unusually big, plus they seemed to burn because they were rather dark, and I didn't pick up on any leaves.
When I got closer, I realized I was wrong. First of all, there was a little bit of green here and there, mainly in form of lichen growing on the tree trunks. The trees weren't burned at all, they were petrified. Turned into solid stone.
It made the place look quite mysterious. Especially with all the moss growing on the ground deeper into the woods.
Normally I would take my time to look around, but since I'd already wasted so much time, I felt the pressure to move quicker, before the local star would set. I rushed running forward and quickly discovered the creatures living in that particular place. Those were bears! Again!
Not your regular bears, though, because the ones I saw there were made of stone. I noticed one thanks to the sound and heaviness of its steps. The ground was shaking slightly when the creature moved, so I was able to spot it this way.
There is not much to describe if you ever saw a stone and a bear. It had some green moss growing on some parts of its body, but except that, it looked rather regular. Well... The size was different too because you probably never saw a bear in the size of a truck, and that boy was this big.
- Peter smash - I said to myself more than to anybody, especially since nobody was around.
Then I leaped into the air, landing heavily on top of the bear, and hitting him with my fist. It was quite a punch. Enough to raise a cloud of dust and pieces of moss, and also enough to break the bear apart, sanding fragments of the body tumbling through the whole area, before they turned into smoke.
- To work - I told myself, after picking up the crystal, and rushed to find more enemies.
