Chapter 780 T.D.O.N.B: The Workshop

So... When there was finally nobody around, I approached the device again, and placed my hand on it to begin the work. First, I chose a piece of land on the city's outskirts, right next to the wall. You might think that a location close to my house would be a good decision, but I thought the opposite. The further away, the better because I would probably make a lot of noise, and contrary to everybody else, I couldn't say to my family members to "shut up and deal with it" if they would complain.

Let's face it, my schedule was a mess because I rarely needed any sleep, and when I was excited about something, even less so it was more than possible I would spend a whole night or at least half of it smacking a piece of metal with a hammer. The rest kinda pieces itself together.

So yeah, it was all to avoid a civil war in the house.

At first, I had this urge to do big. Make a freaking factory with everything I could need, but then I thought about the price that, and the idea was pushed more towards 'on hold' than 'to do'.

- Let's start small, then expand - I told myself.

This led me to just go with a small place. Open, without walls, just four pillars supporting a roof. As a furnace, I thought of an open box filled with burning coal, but then I created something like a stove. Normally it would simply not work, but with my fire magic I didn't need to add any fuel, so it was perfect for me to just spawn raging flames inside it to heat the metal.

I added two barrels. One for oil, which I would have to buy too, and the other one for water, which I could actually make myself with a little bit of magic. The last thing was the anvil. I went with something big with something like a horn on one side, and a flat surface with a rectangle hole on the other, since I saw something like that somewhere.

Then I got a set of hammers and began arranging everything. As I soon found out, I also needed a table to arrange the tools. I didn't really need the pincers or anything else to hot the heated metal, so I didn't buy anything like that.

Overall everything cost me 120k. With all the additional stuff I got after as I got more ideas. It was mostly small stuff like a broom, and a proper hanging sign put on one of the pillars. I also got some material.

It put me at 14 263 000 with the points on my account.

As I finished all of that the time came to answer the very important question, and that was - what should I make first?

Lately, I got Leonel a class point, the same in the case of Carmelita. Tihana has gotten the most of my support over the years, so I thought that it would be only fair if I made something for Celestine.

She was using a shield and a sword to fight, so my idea was to make such a set for her, but add a bit more juice to it. By juice I obviously mean magic.

I started by making a drawing on the sand, which I actually got and threw on the ground to use as a protective layer to make it harder for any fire to start from the sparks and flames I would inevitably produce. It was easy to kick a bit of the dirt and cut the oxygen supply to prevent any accidents.

My idea was something simple, yet effective, but as I made a few designs, I came to the conclusion that it would be nice if one side didn't have a normal edge, but rather a jagged one, like a saw. The hand guard was supposed to be slightly curved towards the grip, so it would give more protection for the fingers.

When I was done with that, I began working. I started by creating a raging storm of flames swirling inside of the furnace, where a nice heavy ingot of steel was placed.

I could make my own, but I went with something already done straight from the device. It heated quite fast, so I took it out using 'Telekinesis' and then did some work with the hammer.

I would definitely struggle in a normal way with this, but my knowledge from the skills made everything much easier than it normally would be.

The first edge I worked on, was the jagged one because to make it I had to make a mass with the flat one, so then I just fixed it. Even at that point, the damn thing looked terrible, but a little bit of file action later, I removed the excess layer of metal, making the whole thing look much better.

Then I worked on a handle. I didn't buy a piece of wood from the device. Instead, I just went to the woods and cut off a branch, to work with that. I had to dry it first, then I burned a hole through it with concentrated flames, eventually fitting everything together, and pinning it with a wind-up pommel.

Then I actually had to buy a bit of leather to wrap and glue - another thing I didn't have and had to get - together. Since I was already shopping, I got some groceries for a meal later, dropped them at the house, and returned to work. That was a minus 700 points in total because I wanted to cash on the gift full-time, with an additional romantic dinner, which would end with some bed action.

Well... At least in my head.

For that I had to go a little bit fancier with the cuisine, and also get some wine, that's why the price was so high.

Like that my first-ever item became a real thing. It still needed enchantments, but instead of focusing on that, I went with making the shield first.
