Chapter 674 Days UNKNOWN: Druoag's Story, Part I
This is Druoag. As the author of this text was unable to describe the events which transpired, I am filling in. I hope to paint the events with words to the best of my ability, as it is saved in my memory. I never did anything of such degree, so I hope you will forgive any of my mistakes. Despite knowing I might lack the proper skills, I will attempt to write instead of Peter.
End of disclaimer.
The alien form of life known to you as The Great On, alongside my humble self, was deeply occupied by trying to stop the advance of queen Ixa.
She noticed that all our efforts were concentrated on keeping her busy while being relatively safe. If you could even use such words in the situation we happened to be in. She tried a few times to grab me using her telekinetic powers, but I made sure to stay at a distance, so I had room to maneuver, and in almost all cases was able to escape without much trouble. Even with this precaution, I almost ended up dead a few times and had to heavily rely on my brother-in-arms, whom I previously mentioned.
He showcased a variety of different attacks from distance. Some were broad, targeting an area, used mainly to slow down the High Queen, others more concentrated, focusing on futile attempts to pierce through the protective sphere she created around herself.
The second one usually missed, but even when they were able to reach the target, it proved to be beyond his skills. The attacks were usually deflected in those cases, or unable to go through the barrier, and bounced off it, crashing into the distance.
I understood that Peter had some kind of idea, and we needed to buy time for him, that's why I didn't mind this waste of energy, which in a different situation would be worthy of a strong reprimand. I matched this tactic by trying to throw boulders, but those were of almost no use, so I had to sometimes close the distance to fake a direct attack.
In a matter of seconds, we were able to synchronize quite well, but the High Queen advanced nevertheless. I could only hope that the idea, Peter came up with, would at least give us some kind f advantage because otherwise, I couldn't see us winning.
After all, each time we were almost successful in killing Ixa, her powers were growing in strength, and we had no other choice, but to look for a way to match her, otherwise, death was inevitable. At first, I thought she was getting weaker because our attacks began reaching her, but shortly after it became quite obvious, that it wasn't true.
As the time flew, I have to confess, that I grew impatient because at any point Ixa could focus on anyone from the two of us, and the situation would become very dire, but she seemed to have a grudge against Peter and preferred to go after him, rather than chase me or The Great One.
Then a noise reached my ears. A different one from the variety which I grew used to. It was a scream, and it came from the direction the human went. I didn't have the time to take a look, but I soon didn't have to.
A pillar of black energy struck from the ground all the way to the sky, as the scream escalated, and changed. I'm afraid I can't describe it well, but it was different. At first, it was like somebody was being skinned alive, but then it got... darker? You have to forgive me. I am still learning human languages, as I chose a few which seemed interesting, but it is a long process, and I am lacking specific vocabulary. I also look at some things from a different perspective, as I am the representative of a race known as Oags.
This digression now got too long. In my defense, I can only write that I wish to give the best relation of the events as I possibly can.
Back to what happened. A pillar of dark energy. Similar to what Peter was showing during the battle before, it was much more concentrated and way stronger. It reached the skies and pierced through the clouds.
Even the High Queen got distracted by it, and a second scream then followed. Even worse. A dreadful feeling was born in my mind, but I was in no position to go there and check up on my human friend. I just had to trust.
After that, an exchange of attack between me and Ixa transpired, but it was very forced, barely could be classified as a proper fight. We both were acknowledging that we were enemies, and yet our minds couldn't help but be distracted by what was going on away from us.
She was feeling the same, as her efforts to go after Peter got stronger. She managed to escape me for a while, but The Great One pushed her back with a few rapid attacks of a broad range. More waves and rays, which frankly speaking were very useful to destroy the landscape, but for our opponent nothing but a petty distraction.
Then a third scream reached us, and in the same place where the pillar originated from, a dome appeared. As black as darkness could be. It was growing, swallowing everything on its way until it burst.
After that, a wave of this strange smoke coming from the ground became much stronger. The world turned darker like the light was no longer allowed in the area, and the air had to give space for this ever-changing, twisting black fog that took over.
I have to admit, that it was such a big distraction, that I allowed the High Queen to completely escape. She rushed forward, going straight to where the epicenter was. I wasn't fast enough to catch up to her, and The Great One, despite trying very hard, was unable to slow her down. His attacks were weaker and weaker with each attempt.
I kept chasing her nevertheless and arrived a few seconds later on the edge of a massive crater. It was filled with this thick smoke Peter always called the essence of the void.
