Chapter 590
The conference hall filled with people eventually, and the atmosphere was quite tense at the beginning, with diplomats and leaders from all over the world were obviously afraid of us, hunters, but with time, as we weren't really doing anything, the tension lightened. People started talking among themselves. Whispering around.
More and more officials were showing up and despite the fact that seats were literally tagged with names of those who were supposed to sit on them, there was not enough space for everybody, as there were additional persons in most entourages.
The hotel quickly provided additional tables and chairs so those who were not supposed to show up also had somewhere to sit. There was a bit of trouble with that, but since the most important figure wasn't showing up, we had enough time.
Ashal Kal Anur clearly wasn't in a rush. He paraded inside wearing his white robe and golden jewelry looking curiously around, as he was unfamiliar with human customs. He said something as he entered the room, and the ring on his lip gt activated.
- Greetings humans - said a machine-like voice coming out of it.
People immediately stood up. It was like a natural reaction. Like they were expected to. Only a couple of hunters didn't.
He then was greeted by a couple of the officials close to him, but everybody still nodded. The alien spotted the only free spot at one of the endings of the horseshoe-shaped cluster of tables and headed there to sit down. Only then did everybody else also take their seats, except one person, who spoke to the microphone. His skin color indicated that he could be local. Despite that, he was just like almost everybody else, a suited-up politician.
- Good morning everybody. I'm Ali Sadad the local prime minister. I would like to welcome you all in my country, and especially our noble guest from a distant place - he said, bowed slightly, and sat down.
Everybody else clapped for him.
- With that let me give the voice to Ashal Kal Anur - he added.
The alien looked around and as his eyes rested on the rostrum, and he went straight there, to stand behind it, then he scanned the whole room again.
- Humans - he started, obviously in his language, which got quickly translated by the device on his lip. - You are about to become part of the glorious Ixan empire, but first, you need to be ready for it. As we talked before, there has to be one central commanding unit, that is above all. Either ruler like in the case of my people, or a council. This means you have to unite and change your laws to obey the rule from this one central unit.
As he spoke he was mainly looking at u, hunters. Probably because we had no idea about that.
- And they will work with an official assigned by the High Queen herself. There is a high chance it will be me, as I was already assigned to overlook the possible assimilation with the Dispurian empire or invasion. You are still not officially a vassal of the Queen, but it will change soon, and you need to be ready for that. Did you start preparations?
A white man stood up and buttoned up his jacket, then he spoke to the microphone.
- I'm Anthony Morris, US Secretary of State - he started. - We are in talks with the UN to build such a council, but we are still not in agreement on quite a number of issues, but we are working on it.
- Then be quick - replied Ashal Kal Anur looking straight at the US politician. - The time is limited, and you do not want to anger the Queen by your lack of decisiveness. You will then have to put in place a list of laws from the imperial law system, and assimilate them into your local rules. The assigned official will help you with it. Moreover, I have already spoken with my brother, the King, about the patronage of Sabhetani over you, humans. He agreed, trusting my words about your unbroken spirit and bravery.
As he said that he looked at the hunters. Especially at William who was sitting next to me. A slight smile even appeared on his face.
- This means we will help you modernize your society and become multi-planetary species. We will share our energy-producing technology, manufacturing, propulsion, and many more, so you can prosper and grow in strength according to the High Queen's wishes.
- That would be very generous of you - said Egipt's PM.
- You have time to finish your preparations until I return with the official decree from the Queen. The brave warriors who fought with their lives on the line to make this all happen will accompany me, as that is the tradition. On this note, I would like to sincerely apologize to you, heroes. The behavior of the Dispurian emperor, Zor'xal, was despicable. Despite seeing your might he allowed his pride and greed to bling him. He saw that you were worthy, and he still tried petty tricks to win, and enslave your people. In the Ixan empire, such behavior should never take place, as this is home to the brave and strong. He went against Queen's wishes despite witnessing the skills her highness herself would acknowledge. This is a punishable offense, and he will be dealt with. Rest assured.
There was more to his words than what he spoke, and I could see it clearly. Before the alien who looked almost like him, except the white skin and crystals, he was willing to tolerate Zor'xal's behavior.
Boris managed to change his mind a little, but that still didn't lead to him stopping the madness.
He was lying to us, and his real motives remained hidden, but they had something to do with the creature that died from Will's hand.
I glanced at Katri Xel Avakadaisu. Her alien face was hard to read, but I had e thought that she has a similar opinion about this. Maybe the rumor she shared with us was true, at least partially.. Definitely, there was something going on there, but to tell you the truth, I didn't really care as long as Earth was safe.
