Chapter 537
I was actually sleeping on the couch when knicking on the glass in the door woke me up. I was not the only one, as Martin jumped on his feet.
Immediately shadow walked to the door and opened it. In the overall darkness, I saw the assistants. And down the stairs, multiple cars were parked. The engines were still working, and the lights were on since it was before sunrise.
- Gather the rest - said Vikram. - We will tell you everything on the way.
I just opened the door more and moved aside to give them the space. They went inside and rushed upstairs.
- I'm ready.. I just need my weapon and armor - said Martin, as he started walking towards the entrance.
- They are already prepared - said his assistant.
- So it's on? - I asked.
- What about you guys? Are you coming?
- Yes. But via a different vessel. We will join you on the other side.
I nodded.
- Are you sure it's not a scam? - asked Boris, as he was going downstairs, followed by others, and listening to our conversation.
- No - admitted Vikram. - We don't know, but we don't have much choice. A hundred new ships appeared over the Atlantic ocean. There is no way we can fight that. They are armed to the teeth with weapons we don't understand, and the nuclear missile launching sites were hacked all over the world. It took them five minutes to disable this world's most dangerous technology.
- Shit - escaped Boris's mouth, as he was still getting closer.
- Let's just make them not want to fight us - I said.
- Good idea - said Russia, as he patted me on the shoulder.
- We can do this guys! - shouted Will.
People already gathered next to the entrance to the mansion. A quick glance at them told me, that they were anxious, excited, and quite eager to fight. I saw the determination on their faces.
- Yeah, let's go - I said, shadow walked past the assistants and then walked down the stairs to the closest car.
Vikram joined me, and we immediately departed.
- I know that you feel betrayed by me - he started, sitting at the front. - But I did what I had to do, Peter. I just wanted you to know that I feel bad about it because I always thought about you as my friend. So, I would like to apologize, even though I would do exactly the same if I could turn back time.
The driver looked at him but didn't say a thing.
- I don't want to talk about this. I need to focus on what's waiting for me, and not on you - I replied, still angry.
I understood his position, but I still felt betrayed. He backstabbed me, and that was a fact. I couldn't find it in me to trust him probably ever again, which basically meant we were done as friends.
The rest of our drive to the airport went in silence. It was quite quick as the streets were blocked by the police. All I saw were their cars with blinking blue and red lights. The streets seemed empty at this hour anyway.
We rode quite fast and parked on the airport grounds, right next to the airstrip. Every gate and the possible passageway was open for uu. There were a lot of officers everywhere, and even some military. I noticed a few humvees, armed with some machine guns.
Through the window, I could see even more people and military staff. There was a large, and strange-looking machine waiting there, with an open deck. It was large. A plane size, but the wings were actually shorter compared to the rest of the aircraft. Not to mention the fact, they were bent a bit.
It was grey in coloration, or at least that was what I thought because of the lack of light, and had some strange golden symbols painted in a few places. I didn't see any engines anywhere, so I wasn't sure how it was supposed to take off.
As soon as I opened the door I saw a familiar face going towards me. Karol Siemiątkowski, an AW agent.
- Dzień dobry - he said with a smight smile.
I just nodded.
- I came in a rush - he said to me in Polish. - Your mother was very worried about you. She couldn't come, but they allowed me to be here. I'll be traveling with you and serve as a contact with your mother.
- I think It's better if she remains in the dark. Who knows what will happen there.
- I thought you will say that - he said. - But I'm going anyway. Just in case.
I sighed. The fact that this was just a convenient excuse was too obvious. He was going because my country wanted to know more about those aliens.
- Their aircraft is ready - he informed me, just as the other cars started parking next to us.
His words made me look again at the ship. I could see it clearly, even in the dim light provided by the upcoming sunrise. I couldn't see any aliens though. Mainly because the cordon of military guys was obscuring my view.
- Let's go then - I said, just as the other hunters left their cars. Then I turned to Martin - Your equipment is ready?
- They already packed it on that thing - he pointed at the vessel.
I nodded. The whole group assembled, but more was still coming. A saw familiar cases from the tournament in the desert. Adam, Gavriil, the Silva guys, and even the Chinese whose names I didn't know at that moment.
Will patted me on the back, and the whole group started moving towards the soldiers, that were standing between us and the alien ship.
Karol stayed with the rest of the assistants, clearly waiting for another ship.
