Chapter 416
Both agents got careful, and they stopped whispering to Will. They even started avoiding talking at all, which led to a strange situation where nobody talked at all. Soon people went after my example and just tried to get some sleep.
I kept my silence and incredibly boring watch. We were woken up few times by the crew to have some food, and the overall journey kinda passed.
It was a long one, but probably not as long as a regular flight would take. We had to land once to refuel, but that was all.
We landed in the United States more or less at the same hour, as we departed from India. We said goodbyes to the crew and went inside because the agents had to deal with some paperwork for us. I had to agree to obey the law during my stay. Will and Aisha didn't have to sing that since they were US citizens already. They even got their documents.
Then we got in the cars and finally left the Los Angeles International Airport heading straight to a hotel. We got three rooms in some five-star place in Beverly Hills.
We caused somewhat ruckus even by arriving. The reporters were already there, but a bunch of guys in suits handled them, so we didn't have trouble getting inside.
The agents again took care of everything and we were led by the workers to our rooms. I gave everybody their stuff, even the jackets I was holding for both Wolf and Zander. They were staying next door to me.
Cloe - who was taking care of me - opened the door, and led me inside a short corridor, ending with a door, with a small cabinet on the right, and an art piece above it. She was a shorty with big... assets, and long, dark-blonde hair, tied into a ponytail.
There was a single dome-shaped lamp on the ceiling, and passage to the room on the left.
- And here is your room, sir - she said, coming inside, and presenting me quite a big space.
I noticed a giant bed on my left, covered in white sheets with some artsy flower behind it and another cabinet in front of it, with a flat-screen TV. Next to that was a tall plant.
The bed had bedside cabinets on both left and right sides, with small lamps. Deeper on the room was also a sofa, that looked more like a single bed, with a small black table, and a tall lamp with a white lampshade. Just past that was a balcony with a view of the swimming pool and small park surrounding it.
- This is your card - she gave me the key card. - If you need anything, sir, please call.
- Yeah... I want some food. Can I get something delivered here?
- Of course, sir. What would you like to have?
- Anything is fine.
- How about a steak?
- Sure.
- I'll get it delivered - she smiled and left me.
I went back to the corridor, to check if the door was leading into a bathroom, and it indeed was, so I just went inside to take a quick shower, and change into new clothes. Then I went to lay down on the bed, and check what was on the TV.
I found the remoted and turned that damn thing on. It showed me a news channel with people discussing our arrival. Ie even had the footage taken not too long ago in front of the hotel.
I couldn't watch that, so I just turned the whole thing off. Just as I did that, somebody knocked on my door, so I got up, to check who it was. It was Aisha.
- Hey. Will and I are going out. Do you want to tag along?
- I just ordered some food to my room.
- Ok. We should be back in an hour or two. Agent Wolf is going with us...
-Ok. Have fun...
She turned around to leave, but then she stopped and faced me again.
- Hey... One more thing. We are filming the thing tomorrow, and since we will be having the ability to go through the questions before, and filter them, I was wondering if you want us to not talk about you.
- Yeah. I would appreciate that.
- That's what I thought - she smiled, and then left.
I watched her for a moment, and then I noticed Cloe, pushing a cart with something hidden under a silver cover. Probably my food.
- I have your order, sir - she confirmed a couple of seconds later.
I opened the door for her, and she pushed the thing inside, and then showed me what was hidden under that cover. A plate with a giant stake and some greens nicely painted with a bit of sauce.
- Enjoy your food sir - she said, and put it on the table, next to the sofa.
Then she left. I heard the door closing, as I was sitting to eat. Finished I went down to the lobby, where I first asked to clean my room, and there where I can find the bar. They led me to the right place.
It was a nice place with brown, round tables surrounded by four armchairs each. The counter itself had plenty of tall chairs. The walls had some paintings on them. Big ones. They reminded me of ancient Rome for some reason.
The place was half empty. A normal thing, considering the hour. I noticed a couple of people drinking at one of the tables, and a couple more by the counter itself. There was a handsome barman there, serving them drinks, wearing an elegant shirt, a vest, and a dark red bowtie.
I picked a spot further from everybody and sat down. He immediately came to take an order from me. I noticed that he was taxing me with his eyes, probably because of my clothes.
- What for you, mister?
- Something strong - I said and pulled a hundred-dollar bill from my vault, which ended on the counter.
At the first second, he was taken aback, but then he smiled and poured me some whiskey into a nice, crystal glass. With a swift move, he took the cash.
- You are one of the aliens, sir? - he asked, trying to start a conversation.
- Aliens? - my eyebrows shoot up. - Do I look like an alien?
He laughed.
- No. By aliens, I mean the people from the portal in India, that were invited here - he explained.
He was actually quite relaxed, which was kinda refreshing considering how normally people reacted to me.
- Yep, I'm one of the aliens.
He laughed again.
- Cool trick that you did there, with the money - he pointed out. - So it was true that you guys can do magick.
- Apparently - I said, and took a sip from the glass.
The stuff he poured me was way better than the shit I got used to backing in Ark.
- So... How is it, out there? I heard about monsters, and crystals, and people doing crazy things.
I sighed, but since I didn't have anything better to do anyway, I started telling him how it is back there. I told him the basic stuff of how everything works out there, and how people live.. It was a quite long conversation actually.
