Chapter 128 - Powerless
The following day.
They woke up just a few minutes apart from each other.
Graven woke up first and kissed Laura's cheek. "Good morning my love!" he greeted her.
"Good morning!" she replied and buried her face into his muscled chest.
"Do you want to go out today?" he asked her.
"Where?"
"Since the rain already stopped falling, we can go to the river and check if the people are already done fixing the bridge," he answered.
"Ah, okay. I'll go with you to see the bridge," she responded.
"We will travel after we eat breakfast. I'll go to my room first and then get our breakfast from the kitchen," he said.
"Okay, I'll wait for you here," she responded with a nod.
Graven exited the room.
Laura went to the bathroom and empty her bladder. She exited the bathroom a moment later. She picked up the comb and began brushing her hair, she went for a ponytail style.
Fifteen minutes later, Graven entered the room carrying the tray in his hands. He placed the tray on the table.
Laura eagerly walked towards the table. "What is our breakfast for today?" she asked and her eyes widened. "Wow, roasted chicken, so yummy!" she squealed happily like a child.
Graven pinched her nose in amusement. "My Queen, sit down beside me and we shall start eating our breakfast," he said and patted the chair beside him.
"Yes, My Lord!" Laura beamed.
The couple eats with gusto.
Thirty minutes later, the couple finished eating breakfast, then get ready to go to the river.
Graven finished donning clothes first and waited outside Laura's room.
Laura exited the room and Graven reached for her hand. "Let's go!" he said.
They exited the inn and boarded the carriage.
After a few minutes of traveling, they finally reached their destination.
Laura and Graven exited the carriage and inspected the river, they saw men working together to repair the bridge, everyone works hard to fix the destroyed bridge at the soonest possible time.
Laura looked at her companion. "How long they will finish repairing the bridge?" she inquired.
Graven's mouth twitched as he gauged the strength of the men working in the bridge. "My rough estimate is five days up to one week," he responded.
Laura bit her lip. "That's a bit too long," she said in dismay.
"Yeah, don't worry, they might make a make-shift bridge temporarily so that the travelers can finally continue their journey. I will instruct my men to scout for an area where a temporary bridge can be erected while the main bridge is still under construction," he said.
"Okay, much better, if they can find one," she agreed. "But if not... then don't force it, let's just wait it out," she stated.
"Okay, as you say so," Graven replied.
The couple watched the men in action for a few minutes.
Then they left the place going back to the inn.
When they arrived at the lodging house. Several men were talking at the entrance of the inn. They were discussing the missing guy who rented the other room upstairs.
Laura glanced worriedly at her companion.
"Just keep your mouth shut," Graven warned her.
They passed the men in a heated conversation quietly and climbed the stairs going to the second floor of the building.
When they arrived on the second floor, the couple went inside Laura's bedroom.
"What's going on?" she asked.
"What do you mean?" he was trying to evade her question.
"What's going on? What did your men do to that guy who harassed me? Was he still alive?" she repeated her question.
Graven shrugged. "My men are teaching him a lesson somewhere...don't worry the moment we leave this place, he can come back here," he said just to silence her.
"Ah, okay. I thought your men already killed the guy," she said, fearing for the worst.
"Just think about it for a second... if my men didn't save you, did you ever imagine what that guy is going to do to you?" he asked her point-blank.
Laura shuddered in horror. She remembered that the guy's eyes were filled with unconcealed lust while looking at her. She went to his side and embraced him. "Let's not talk about him anymore. I don't care what your men going to do to him," she said, getting tired of the topic.
"That's good!" he said, rubbing her back gently.
They went to bed and cuddled, savoring each other's company.
<<<0>>>
A thousand miles away.
Rebecca was held inside a room that is impossible for her to get out and it's making her crazy!
The last thing she remembered when she was at the back of the giant bird, she passed out and the next time she opened her eyes, she was already in this room ever since her capture.
The room is windowless, but it was equipped with a bathroom, a queen-sized bed, one table, and two chairs, then a closet filled with women's clothing and undies. An antique mirror was located near the closet. Based on her analysis, the house is pretty old with its notable high ceiling. The damn room doesn't even have a wall clock!
She has not ventured outside of the room yet. Her feet are itching to get out! She feels like a caged animal inside the room!
So far she already had seen two servants who interacted with her. There was a small opening near the door good enough for the food tray to pass.
Two female servants would take turns bringing her meals three times a day and passed it to her through that small opening. She was able to see their faces but every time she attempted to talk to them they kept their mouth shut and wouldn't answer her.
She can't use her power because of the necklace that was placed on her neck, it was a golden necklace that she attempted to take away from her neck several times but she failed to do so, because every time she tried to get rid of the necklace she will feel a scorching pain attacking her hands, it's so painful, she can't bear it!
She suspected that the necklace was the one restricting her from using her power. She becomes powerless! And turned into an ordinary person.
Dammit! She can't teleport outside the room because her power was nonexistent.
She has no idea what place is this?
She was expecting that Laura's supposed to be vampire husband will appear anytime, but so far no sign of him appearing yet.
She was getting confused and angry. She doesn't want to be imprisoned in this room for a long time, powerless, for the rest of her life.
But right now, no matter how frustrating her situation is, she has to endure all this for that one final moment that she can finally leave the room and find a way to escape the place.
She knew that Graven and his men were already looking after her and planning to rescue her, but all their effort will be futile because she doesn't even have a clue where those giant birds had taken her.
The only clue she got as of now is that the house looks big, more like a mansion, and nothing else.
She sat on the edge of the bed, feeling frustrated with her situation.
A few minutes later. She rose to her feet and began pacing back and forth inside the room.
She's going crazy if her situation will continue like this for a long time!
She needs to get out!
Nowwwww!
She tried grabbing the necklace and it started to get hotter in her hands, she dropped it right away!
Dammit!
How can she leave this room?
A few minutes later, the small door was opened and the meal was delivered by the servant.
She walked towards the small opening. "Take me to the owner of the house now! Hurry up!" she demanded fiercely.
The servant just looks at her face blankly and left.
Rebecca was infuriated to the core. How dare they ignore her demand just like that!
She was fuming in anger.
She picked up the tray filled with food and put it on the table. In fairness, the dishes were prepared deliciously and palatable, it's the only good thing about this house.
She spent her energy eating the dishes instead of getting angry.
A few minutes later, she finished eating her meal and put the tray back in the small opening.
She stared at the ceiling again.
She's been longing to get out of the room. Just a few days inside the windowless room is already eating her resolve. Her patience is wearing thin.
She screamed at the top of her lungs. "Let me goooooooo! Take me out of hereeeeeeeee! Anybody there? Can you hear meeeeee!" she shouted and yelled to no one in particular hoping there's somebody out there who can hear her screaming.
After getting tired of screaming, she lie on the bed and closed her eyes, she feels tired all of a sudden.
Slowly she falls into a deep slumber.
One hour later.
A guy materialized inside the room wearing a black hooded cape, his face was concealed by the hood.
He looked at the woman sleeping on the bed...
Then another figure materialized in the room, this time it's a woman... she was wearing the same black hooded cape just like the guy.
They stared at the face of the woman sleeping on the bed.
"Is she or is she not?" the woman finally spoke. "There is something about her that I can't describe..."
"We will find out soon!" the guy murmured.
"Is it better to transfer her to the other room? This room looks so dull and there is not even a window, no wonder she was getting ballistic here..." the woman asked.
"Let me think about it," the guy replied.
They stayed in the room looking at the sleeping woman for a few minutes, when they already have enough, they finally disappeared from the room.
A few minutes later, Rebecca had awakened from her slumber. She feels that there's someone in the room staring at her but she can see no one... such a strange feeling that she can't shake away.
She's probably getting paranoid.
She released a deep sigh and went back to sleep.
