Chapter 714 - Crimson Eyes
Chapter 714 - Crimson Eyes
"Master, I heard some interesting news!" A cute little white bird chirped while fluttering its wings and descended from the skies.
It appeared to be returning from somewhere as it entered a vast and spacious room.
The man reclining languidly on the couch frowned at the ruckus being created and his eyelashes trembled before his grey irises came into view.
His eyes followed the bird who finally stopped as it was now fluttering right above him which made him flick his wrist.
"Get out of my face." An annoyed voice echoed in the room which had been filled with sounds of the flapping wings.
This simple gesture caused the little bird to be flung across the room but wasn't harmed in any way.
A surprised chirp escaped the bird who steadied himself before flying back to the one he called his Master.
However, this time he maintained a moderate distance after learning the tough lesson.
By now, the man with long blue hair and mesmerizing grey eyes had sat up and was gazing at his disciple.
"What is it?" He inquired about the cause of the disturbance he had just endured.
Theo, the disciple, did not transform into his original appearance but remained as the little bird as he reported what he had heard to his Master.
The more the man heard, the darker his eyes glinted but he never uttered a word from beginning to the end.
"Even though we do not have any inter-realm conferences, he seems to be visiting our heavenly realm quite frequently." The little bird summarized his report before glancing at his Master to see what he would do next.
According to the hot gossip going around in the heavenly realm, there was an unexpected visitor who was appearing often even when he had no official business here.
When Theo had headed outside to complete a task given by his Master as a part of his training, the little bird had accidentally eavesdropped on a conversation between other heavenly beings.
Since his objective for the day was to be able to control his bird form without transforming back to his true form no matter what the obstacle, Theo remained as a bird while approaching them.
The two he had found were disciples of other gods just like him so it wasn't too hard for him to gain some information from them.
Due to this reason, Theo was now aware of what everyone in the heavenly realm was talking about.
The news of a certain Demon Lord arriving to visit a God had been the focus of everyone's entertainment these days.
No one knew why this was so as they could not just barge into that God's dwelling to take a peek at what was going on in there.
However, what they did know for sure was that the Demon Lord was not here for official purposes as he had been in the past but for personal reasons which remained undisclosed.
None of the Gods wished to appear too curious about this incident but they could not deny that they were intrigued to know more about it.
After all, they had been around for numerous millennia and hardly got any reason to be excited as their lives had become an onslaught of monotony, decade after decade.
Therefore, they were enjoying the thrill of trying to figure out why the Demon was able to freely move in and out of a certain God's heavenly abode.
This was the news Theo had reported to his Master who had not uttered a single word ever since he had begun speaking.
"What did you say he looked like?" Asmodeus Del Ovin, the God of flight and thunder questioned after finally regaining his senses.
He had been trying to decipher what connection this God could have with a Demon when another thought struck his mind.
Thus he now wished to know the identity of the Demon Lord frequenting their heavenly realm.
Theo had not seen this Demon Lord but had heard about him from the other disciples.
"Tall, dark hair, and crimson eyes." He repeated the same description he received from them.
Most disciples weren't as old or as powerful as their Masters and hence they too did not know the true identity of this Demon Lord.
The only information they had available to deduce his identity was the massive demonic aura he had within him.
It had been a while since they had sensed a dark energy in their tranquil land so they were curious to know more about it.
There were numerous Demon Lords in the nether realm but Asmodeus could already guess which one Theo was referring to based on the simple description he revealed.
Demons and Gods could possess anybody and make them do their bidding as they could not reveal their true forms to mere humans as doing so might pose a threat of disintegrating the fragile human souls due to their pure energy.
Therefore, it was common for them to use another form to appear before humans.
At first, Asmodeus had no clue about who this Demon Lord was, but as soon as he heard about the crimson eyes, a certain name popped up in his mind.
The thought of this Demon mingling with that God who once was his closest friend made Asmodeus frown.
'Is Neo in danger?' He wondered as he knew the personality of that Demon Lord.
They had interacted quite a few times in the past and every time they met, that Demon was a nuisance.
Therefore, remembering the wicked habits of that Demon, Asmodeus' frown only deepened.
Standing at a short distance, Theo shuddered when the room they were in was now freezing cold.
He could not understand what was wrong but was smart enough to realize that his Master was concerned about the God being targeted in the gossip.
Sadly, what Theo had grasped, Asmodeus was still oblivious to.
Before the disciple could mention that there was no negative news about them other than the sudden curiosity that piqued among the other gods, his Master had already vanished from sight.
___
Asmodeus did not know why but he was currently hovering above the place where his old friend lived with his disciple.
His grey eyes were narrowed as he glanced down at the residence of the other God.
The God of wisdom and knowledge had chosen his residence to be among the tranquil and eternal starry skies which was far from where Asmodeus lived.
However, he had reached this place in a matter of seconds.
He did not realize that his mind had marked this trip to be something urgent and had expended quite a large amount of energy to appear here out of nowhere.
Unknown to the worries he still harbored somewhere deep down in his subconscious mind, he was now above Neo's residence, trying to make sure that the other person was alright.
However, when he glanced down, using his skill of seeing through objects, the subconscious distress in his heart faded away.
'Oh…' He shook his head at the sight before him which was anticlimactic, to say the least.
Down inside the other god's residence, he did see the Demon with him but there was nothing wrong or suspicious going on.
This made Asmodeus grimace at himself for he had hurried all the way here to take a look at what the reason for the Demon's appearance could be.
Now that he had received the answer, he decided to leave before his presence could be sensed by those who were currently inside that residence.
Thus he turned around and this time, instead of vanishing from there immediately, he chose to slowly make his way back home.
He had a lot on his mind which needed some introspection and he had also exerted too much energy to get here so he could not use the same method for his trip back home.
However, as Asmodeus turned around and began to move away, he failed to notice the pairs of eyes which were watching him from the same residence he had spied on just earlier.
___
"What? Did he get jealous that I am spending some quality time with you?" Karizen smirked as he watched the sight of the Bird God making his way back to his heavenly abode.
Neo's golden snake-like eyes were fixed on the back of his dear friend and snapped away only after hearing these sneering words coming from the Demon standing next to him.
A few minutes earlier, they had been watching the child from Asmodeus's world when Karizen had snapped his finger and sealed the portal which allowed him to peer into that world.
Annoyed at his willful behavior, Neo was just about to give him a piece of his mind when the Demon Lord brought them to a whole other room.
This made him stop and frown when he found himself standing before his disciple's bed.
Ever since Yether had used his powers to help conceal Neo's presence from Asmodeus's world, the disciple had fallen unconscious.
Though he had regained his consciousness soon after, a large portion of his powers had been depleted.
It was thanks to the fragment of blessing that Neo had bestowed on him that he had not fallen into an unending sleep cycle which was what could be expected after achieving a feat of such massive proportions.
Yether was safe from the risk of falling into eternal sleep but was still too weak to even accomplish his daily tasks.
Therefore, he had been in bed all day and Neo was keeping watch over him, making sure that he had sufficient aura to not slip into that vicious eternal sleep.
"Your dear friend was trying to spy on us," Karizen explained why he had sealed the portal and brought them over here to Yether's room.
After all, who would suspect a Demon Lord who had come over to check on one of his former Demons?
