Chapter 544 - Yvonnes Sudden Predicament
Chapter 544 - Yvonne's Sudden Predicament
Yvonne had learned many things ever since she and her family began staying in their Summer estate.
She had discovered the truth about the reason why Rutherford had to give up on his dream of becoming a knight which was due to his father's fatal illness.
She also realized that her father had changed his mind about doing the same to Howard after comprehending the secrets of the past.
The Old Master had forced Rutherford to give up the sword to take over the fief as its Lord as he was on the verge of dying.
However, Rutherford had thought that this was the way things worked in his family and had explained to Howard that the same would happen to him.
Yet he understood the true intentions of his father later on and changed his verdict, allowing Howard to do as he pleased as long as he continued to learn his heir responsibilities on the side.
Thus, Howard was given an opportunity to fulfill his dreams with the support of his entire family.
Yvonne had also learned about the truth behind her encounter with her etcher.
Demon had escaped from his captors and he met her in the grazing field behind their mansion in Amarthea.
Her anger for his captors was high as well and she wished to teach them a good lesson if she ever finds out their identity.
But right now, another thought popped up in her mind.
Based on her speculations, Demon must have followed the same path in the script as well but had not met 'Yvonne' there.
'Yvonne' in the script was busy studying in the Royal Palace with the Princess and Glennise and hence must have never met Demon who was just passing by their mansion at that time.
However, the Yvonne St. Claire who now occupied that body had avoided that path and chose to study at home with her tutor and practice swordsmanship with her trainer.
When she had gone to meet her new trainer near the stables, she had found the horse and had imprinted on it, becoming etcher and etched ever since.
The dream she had seen proved that her existence in this world and the decisions she was making were bringing about many changes to the script that this world followed.
The butterfly effect was evident with the bond formed between Yvonne and the etcher which had never taken place in the script.
Therefore, right now, Yvonne was wondering what else would change due to the decisions she had made until now.
'Would my suggestions to help prevent and control this plague cause any more deviations?' She wondered while staring at the ceiling.
She had just completed her conversation with Demon about his past and was now mulling over the consequences of her actions.
It was still her birthday and in the evening, the family joined together in the garden where they enjoyed tea and cupcakes made with the strawberries that she had picked with the gardener's help.
The family watched the sunset as they sat in the same place and only when it got dark did they return to their rooms.
Dinner was extravagant too and every servant in the estate enjoyed delicious meals the entire day thanks to the Miss's birthday celebration.
When Yvonne fell asleep that night, she cuddled with the doll that her maids had prepared from scratch.
This was the present which Roselie and Mrs. Jacinth had stitched for their Miss and she had accepted it with a grateful smile.
Yvonne was used to rolling around the bed but with the doll now laid next to her, she was seen clutching the doll while dozing off to the land of slumber.
However, just before she could drift away to her dreams, a certain thought came to her mind.
'I would rather prefer stuffed animals than these dolls…' She yawned as the next brilliant idea for her business flickered for a moment before it vanished along with her consciousness as she finally fell asleep.
___
The next morning after Yvonne's seventh birthday, the siblings were already in the training area prepared for them as they began their morning practice.
Jax was watching over them as he was older than the two and also had been trained by the elite secret guards along with the guidance of Captain Desmo who taught him whenever he found the chance.
Thus, the youngest butler of this family was seen helping the children out if they ever needed it.
While Jax was still not as proficient in swordsmanship as Yvonne and Howard, he excelled in close combat due to his swift and precise instincts.
For someone who had lived on his own, his entire life, his senses were heightened which allowed him to move faster than the rest.
If Yvonne sparred against him now, after his training with the secret guards, then there was no doubt who the winner would be.
Earlier, Jax's skills were dull but not non-existent but that had now changed.
With the training he received and constant practice, his skills had improved and he could defeat both Yvonne and Howard if they fought in close combat.
Therefore, right now, the younger children did not disparage him for his status but paid heed to the advice he was giving out as it would help them advance in their skills.
While the three youngsters were busy in the training ground right next to the Mansion, a visitor had arrived at the main entrance of the estate.
As Rutherford had been informed by his secret guard who had arrived the day before yesterday, the visitor who had arrived today was none other than an official from the Royal Palace.
Since this was a Royal Decree being sent by the King himself, every member of the household, Lord and servant alike needed to be present when it would be proclaimed.
Therefore, the Earl had instructed everyone present in the estate to assemble outside the mansion right this instant.
The messenger of the King could not be kept waiting for too long as that would denote disrespect to the King who was his Master.
Hence, within the next three minutes, everyone had to rush over and appear before the Official who had arrived.
Yvonne frowned when a servant had hurried to inform them of the Earl's command.
She was still wearing her training uniform which consisted of a shirt and trousers which snugly fit her little body, something which girls did not wear in this Kingdom.
If the messenger were to see her in this odd outfit and asked questions, then they would not be able to avoid the sticky situation that might arise.
However, she did not have enough time to change into a new dress.
She also could not hide behind the long line of servants as the family of the Earl needed to be right in the front followed by the servants according to their ranks.
Rutherford too had the same concern as his eyes kept glancing in the direction of the training area where his children were when the messenger had arrived.
He had been expecting this man to appear later and hence had not thought of this problem which had now arisen.
Thankfully, when his eyes caught sight of the little girl, his worries faded when he saw what she was wearing at this moment.
The uniform was nowhere to be seen and instead, was something which would not arouse suspicion from the messenger.
Yvonne smiled at her father who appeared troubled but those furrowed brows eased after their eyes met.
This was due to the sudden change in her attire which he had not been expecting.
In truth, even Yvonne was surprised by the sudden appearance of the messenger whom they were expecting later on and was eager to find some way to conceal her attire.
This problem's solution was found when she heard hurried footsteps coming her way and caught sight of her maid, Roselie dashing towards her.
The items in her hands brought relief to Yvonne and she smiled at her sharp maid who had understood her predicament and brought these to her without being commanded to do so.
Therefore, right now, Yvonne was walking towards the Earl and the Countess who stood before the Official of the Royal Palace.
Howard walked beside her and behind them were Jax and Roselie.
The Official's eyes were attracted towards the young children walking towards him and his stern eyes softened at the sight of the adorable little girl.
The young heir of the Earl appeared to be called out from his morning practice as he was still wearing his training attire and there were even droplets of sweat dotted across his forehead.
Next to the boy was the daughter of the Earl who appeared to have just awoken from her sleep.
While her hair was neatly combed and her face was clean, she was donning a robe that must be covering her nightgown.
The soft slippers she wore only proved his point that she was still in her nightclothes and only had the time to wash her face and comb her hair due to his sudden arrival here early in the morning.
Being a doting father to his children, he could not bring himself to chide her for being improperly dressed for receiving the Royal Decree.
He had been traveling since yesterday and not once did he stop along the journey.
Thus, he had reached ahead of schedule to accomplish the task given to him by the King himself.
As he had been the one to rush over which had caused her to come outside while wearing her nightclothes, he chose to ignore her behavior this once.
Thus his eyes scanned the people who had assembled before he glanced at the Earl for confirmation.
"Everyone has arrived." Rutherford declared, which received a nod as the messenger pulled out a scroll from the pocket of his long coat.
