Chapter 302 - Return To The Royal Academy
Chapter 302 - Return To The Royal Academy
After the conversation between the father and child which lasted the entire afternoon, Yvonne did not have the chance to practice her piano pieces and could only return to her room while sulking.
When she returned to her room, she spent a few hours lazing on the bed after which she was called for an early dinner.
Dinner went as usual following which Raylene informed them to rest earlier as they would have to wake up before sunrise to send Howard off at dawn break.
The weekend would now end in a few hours and her daily routine would start back up which meant that she would not get these precious hours of rest any longer.
Therefore, she spent the rest of the evening in her bedroom, lounging on the bed and reading a few books.
She wore a long white camisole nightgown that acted as the alternative to the multiple-layered heavy dresses which might as well give her a heat stroke.
Her considerate maid had filled a jug of cold water and placed it by her bedside table for her before she left for the night.
'I wonder how the birthday party went?' Yvonne wondered while pouring some water for herself.
She was aware today was the day of the party and was glad that she had not been invited.
'I did not have to make up an excuse to avoid attending a Royal party so I am grateful to the King for making such a strange decision.' She chuckled in relief when thinking of how only Ducal and Marquess family's daughters were invited.
However, she did not know that it wasn't the King but his younger brother who had caused this change in the original plans.
If Yvonne had followed the script that the blue bird had written then she would have been attending that party as the playmate.
'I was smart enough to avoid that fate!' She shook her head and was delighted she had saved herself from having any contact with the Royal family for the foreseeable future.
"And I plan on keeping it that way!" She glowered at the miserable life that the bird had written for her.
But who could ever truly evade their fate for too long?
Yvonne did not have the slightest clue that she was still under the watchful eyes of three members of the same Royal family.
The King, who wished to meet the child genius but circumstances kept thwarting his plans.
The future Grand Duke, who knew about her movements through his guards who kept an eye on her.
Finally, the Prince, who was still in search of the black-haired girl that had dared to call him a pig.
Oblivious to the attention on her, she was thinking of how the birthday celebration might have ended.
The little girl wasn't worried about the success of the Princess's sixth birthday party but was nervous about the reception of her cupcakes sold by Baron MacIntyre's cafe.
If these treats did well at the party then their sales would skyrocket once the news about it spreads among the noble populous.
'Something that is approved by the King will gain major support from the nobles.' She believed that this was true everywhere.
In her previous world, companies would find the shiniest and most famous star to endorse their products and the sales would certainly shoot up.
'Even if the product was mediocre, the fans would buy it to support their beloved artist.' She recalled as many of her artists from Platina Entertainment also had endorsement contracts with numerous big named brands.
In this world, though they did not have big stars or artists, the Royal family members could be considered as the equivalent of a star that everyone followed.
"Since Baron's cafe was approved by the King himself, there shouldn't be any problem with the treats." She assumed which only meant that the treats lived up to his expectations.
If the nobles got news of this, which they most certainly will, they would soon flock to the Baron's cafe to show their patronage.
"This, in turn, signifies loads of profit for me!" Yvonne grinned from ear to ear at the very thought of receiving 30% of all profits gained from the sale of the cupcakes.
She wasn't too worried about the Baron cheating her out of the money because then he would have to face her father's wrath whom the plump man would never dare to cross.
With the thought of money pouring into her lap from the profits her recipe would make, Yvonne felt satisfied as she placed the book on economics on the table by her bed.
Reaching out, she turned the lamp off and then laid back down on her bed.
With the light diminishing from the room, all she now had to do was shut her eyes and fall into a deep slumber.
__
The next morning, Yvonne awoke at the sound of knocks on her door.
Instead of turning to the door, her first reaction was to glance at the window which displayed the still dark sky without any trace of the Sun's rays.
'Do we have to wake up this early!?' She groaned while sitting up in bed.
"Come in." She permitted and soon Mrs. Jacinth entered the room with a tub of warm water for her.
The little girl got off her bed and walked to the bathroom with protest apparent on her face but she had no other choice but to wash up and leave the room.
By the time she was dressed, the room was brighter as the sun had finally appeared over the horizon.
Today was the first of the week and the month which was also the day that Howard would return to the Royal Academy.
Clothed in a violet summer dress with fewer layers prepared as per her wishes, Yvonne and her maid walked towards the dining room.
The atmosphere inside this room was silent and gloomy which made the drowsy little girl frown as she did not like it one bit.
"Mama, Big Brother will come back to visit often so please stop pouting." She suggested as she walked to her seat.
Raylene had been sulking since she woke up as she would miss her baby boy once he left for another month.
Though he promised that he would return often, she could not placate her maternal heart which despised this separation.
"Vonna is right, Ray." The husband rubbed her arm while smiling at their sensible daughter.
Yesterday the father and daughter had engaged in an intellectual conversation for the betterment of the fief, making him spend the night in thoughts of how to implement the ideas she had given.
While the husband had been thinking about the fief, the wife was brooding that she would not meet her son again.
She knew that this was important for his education and future but who could blame her for wanting to spend more time with her baby.
Howard glanced at his mother who had also cried while helping him pack his belongings yesterday and even now, she seemed to be gloomy.
"How about I write a letter every week and come over every weekend?" He proposed, giving her a definitive schedule to ease her troubles.
'We do not have classes during the weekend so it should be fine.' He surmised that he would follow this schedule unless something came up.
These words brightened the mother's drooping spirits as she nodded profusely.
'Such a child!' Yvonne rolled her eyes at her mother without fear as she knew that their attention wasn't on her right now.
The breakfast came to a quick end as they were expecting guests, the three boys to arrive soon.
Butler Limo ordered a few servants to carry the Young Master's luggage while the family of four walked to the front porch of the Mansion.
Yvonne glanced at her maid who nodded at her in silence, bringing a smile to her face.
Rutherford and Howard had caught this quiet exchange between the two as they tried to decipher the meaning hidden underneath their interaction.
However, they did not have time to mull over this any longer as the sounds of horses pulling a carriage were heard coming from the direction of the main gate.
'Here they are!' Yvonne turned in the same direction and a wide smile appeared and vanished before anyone could catch sight of it.
