Chapter 226 - Time To Prove...
Chapter 226 - Time To Prove...
Yvonne's bold voice was loud enough for everyone to hear and she realized that she had used excessive force to yell her objection out earlier.
She put on an apologetic expression as she averted her gaze from them.
'Where is that man!?' She scowled at her trainer who had not yet arrived at the estate.
Every day he would be here before the sun rose but on the day that he was needed the most, he failed to make it on time.
Rutherford frowned when he too realized that his old friend had failed to make it to the mansion.
While everyone had confused expressions on their faces as they wondered what might have delayed the Captain, it was Howard who was shaking his head in disappointment.
'The Captain knows that she is going to fail so he must have decided to not come over to avoid watching his pupil fail right before his eyes.' He pitied the man who was forced to teach this little imp.
He was still under the impression that his mother was naive to think that Yvonne was working hard each day in her training.
His scornful eyes were clear for anyone who had glanced at him and the little girl was also one of them.
'I shall let my actions do the talking.' Yvonne sneered when she saw the distrustful look on her elder brother's face.
She knew how much she had practiced in order to face this assessment and do her best.
Therefore she did not wish to waste her time in trying to change his mind when she could do the same by proving her skills to him in the training ground which was the venue of the assessment.
Just when her eyes were blazing with the desire to prove him wrong, the sound of a horse-drawn carriage was heard coming their way.
Everyone present outside the door of the mansion turned in its direction and found a carriage with the crest of the Red Scorpion Lights approaching them at a slow pace.
'He's here!' The little girl cheered when she found that her trainer had finally decided to grace them with his presence.
Captain Desmo Reel would head to the St. Claire Mansion each day on the back of his Precious, his etcher but today it appeared as though he had opted to make an entrance in his carriage.
Just as she had thought, the doors of the carriage were held open by the coach driver, and the man who she had been waiting for appeared.
'And he lectures me about being punctual all the time.' Yvonne rolled her eyes as she mocked her trainer who had arrived late.
He should have been here to help her prepare for Howard's assessment but the man was least bothered as he walked in their direction at a leisurely pace.
'What is her problem?' Captain Desmo Reel narrowed his eyes when he saw his pupil glaring at him from the moment he had stepped out of his carriage.
Howard had thrown away his scornful gaze and was now gazing at the man who was one of his many idols.
'Captain is so cool!' He admired the man who had both looks and skills to claim the position of the Captain of the Red Scorpion Knights.
"Greetings, Captain! Glad you could make it to our mansion!" The young boy chirped in excitement after Desmo had come closer to their position.
Gone was the scorn filled gaze that he had been shooting at his little sister all along.
Captain Reel smiled at the boy who was enthusiastic to meet him and then turned his eyes to the rest of the St. Claire family members.
Raylene nodded in greeting with a smile, Rutherford maintained a blank face as though his presence did not affect him in the least bit and finally he turned his eyes towards the other little child.
Her narrowed eyes were still present which was an amusing sight for him to behold.
"In case my dear pupil has forgotten, let me refresh her memory that I am the Captain of the Red Scorpions before I am your trainer." He revealed the reason for his delay.
'I do not sit at home all day after coming here to train you in the morning.' He scoffed at the child who was expecting too much from him.
Yvonne did not care for his explanations as no matter what he had to say, for her, he was late and had broken his own principles.
'Look at that disrespectful face!' Howard glared at his little sister who was behaving rudely before the man he admired.
The child felt his angry stares and turned in his direction only to find him gesturing something to her.
'Huh? What?' She tilted her head in confusion as she could not decipher what he had been trying to convey through his actions.
Howard was now gritting his teeth as he felt the urgent need to pull his hair out after seeing the foolish look on her face.
'Greet him! Where are your manners!?' He continued to gesture by pointing his chin at her then at the Captain.
Luckily, Captain Desmo had not taken offense to her ignorance and had begun talking to their father.
'Greet your tutor! He deserves the respect!' He was now glowering at her but Yvonne could not make any sense of his strange actions.
'Huh?' Was all that could be used to describe the current expression on her face.
This was the final straw for the boy as he held the ends of his coat and bent low while looking at her.
Yvonne's eyes widened after she understood what he had been struggling to convey and this brought out a chuckle from her mouth.
'Couldn't you just mouth the words?' She sneered at the boy who had used such a roundabout way.
"Greetings, Captain Reel. I apologize if I had been disrespectful earlier." She curtsied while smiling at the man who had recently arrived.
However, even after she had followed the instructions that her elder brother had given, she could see the anxious look on his face.
'I did as you told me so what else do you want from me?' She frowned and this caused her cheeks to puff up in annoyance.
Howard's urge to hide his face in embarrassment was high when he saw the abrupt greeting that she had given to the Captain.
The man who had been speaking to their father was now observing the silent interaction between the siblings.
'So even she has childish fights with her brother?' He snickered while shaking his head.
This made the boy feel further embarrassed as he showed an awkward smile before glaring at his sister.
'I will not bother about you anymore!' Yvonne declared as she stepped towards her father who was smiling after noticing her approaching him.
Rutherford who was about to pick her up was stopped in his tracks when he saw the vigilant look in her eyes.
'No carrying me in front of others!' She warned him through her eyes.
Being carried was not a problem but being carried when this mean Captain was present was not something she was willing to accept.
'She still fears being mocked.' Captain Reel caught the reason why she had denied her father the chance to carry her.
"Now that the Captain has arrived, shall we begin?" She inquired and glanced at the mean man who gave her a nod of approval.
'Time to prove some people what I am capable of!' Yvonne smirked as she turned to look at her brother.
