Chapter 199 - Discuss The Terms
Chapter 199 - Discuss The Terms
"Are you sure you want to make him wait longer?" Marquess Samed questioned as he gazed at her face intently to make out what her thoughts were.
Yvonne chuckled and nodded indicating that she was positive about what she had planned.
Their class had already ended yet neither she nor her tutor had left the room as they should have.
She had asked the Marquess to stay back even when they had ended their class about ten minutes ago.
Yvonne waited for a few more moments before she rose from her seat.
"Time to meet the Baron. Care to join me?" She proposed and was met with an eager nod.
'This is valuable gossip so how can I reject this offer?' The Marquess was elated that he was going to witness this event firsthand.
Soon, the pair of tutor and pupil vacated the room which prompted the nanny standing guard outside to send word to the Butler through another maid.
As the maid rushed towards the study where their master was with the Butler, Yvonne and her little group made their way towards the Parlor.
'He has waited long enough. Time to put him out of his misery.' She giggled as they were fast approaching the meeting place.
Yvonne was walking next to Marquess Samed while Mrs. Jacinth followed after them at a short distance.
Just as they turned the corner of the corridor which led them to the Parlor, they found that the Earl and his Butler were also walking in from the other side of the corridor.
Two small groups met at the entrance of the Parlor and came to a halt.
Yvonne smiled at her father as she greeted him with the perfect curtsied bow.
Marquess Samed waited for the father who was beaming at his daughter to stop grinning like a fool before he greeted him as well.
"I hope the Earl does not mind my intrusion on the meeting." He mentioned while nodding at the man.
Rutherford paused for a moment as he was not aware of this change in the plans which he and his child had discussed in detail yesterday.
"Vonna has invited Marquess, Papa." Yvonne's cheerful information helped clear the doubt in his mind.
'If Vonna thinks so then I have no problem with it.' The father agreed with a nod and turned towards the door.
He held the little girl's hand as the door was pushed open by the Butler.
The party of three entered the room and came in contact with the scene of a plump man sitting on the couch as he popped a cookie into his mouth.
Baron MacIntyre had succumbed to the anxieties in his heart and gave in to the urge to eat some of the snacks played before him.
Unfortunately, the moment he had eaten the first cookie in a long while, the door was pushed open and the master of the house entered the room.
Baron Quinn MacIntyre was stunned to see that not only had Earl St. Claire accompanied his daughter for this meeting, so did the Marquess who was her tutor.
'Look at his bloodshot eyes popping out of their sockets.' Yvonne snickered in her heart as she walked beside her father.
The three people arrived at the Baron's position and soon pleasantries were exchanged.
'I was sure that Earl would meet me today but why is the Royal Tutor here?' Baron wondered as his nervousness grew by another notch.
Not only was this man a Marquess he even had a special responsibility and stature as the tutor of the Royal Princess of Rosenhyde.
So, the desperate need to curry favor with this man and not gain his ire was what had taken over his mind.
'A friendship with a Marquess will do my cafe some good.' He asserted and was thinking of ways to form the aforementioned friendship.
Yvonne sneered when she saw the greedy look on the obese man's face which made her shake her head in dissatisfaction.
'He needs to control that greed before it eats him up.' She warned and made a mental note to look into this later on.
Rutherford and Sullivan had long noticed the weird expression on his face which made them frown.
Baron MacIntyre woke up from his money-minting daze once he saw the stern look on their faces.
Clearing his throat, he smiled at them with awkwardness apparent on his face.
'He hasn't looked at me even once.' Yvonne grumbled and shot daggers at his face which was alternating between the two men.
She was supposed to be the star of the show but somehow the star was being sidelined by these two side actors who did not have much role here today.
Miffed at this blatant disregard of her existence, Yvonne decided to take matters into her own hands if the attention she deserves was not being given to her.
"Glad that the Baron could make it today." She uttered in a clear yet childish voice.
This soft voice made the three men who were looking at each other in silence finally notice that there was a fourth person there.
'How could I forget that Vonna was also here!' Rutherford was also guilty of this crime which brought up a troubled expression on his face.
He was gauging the Baron just as he would before signing an agreement with any of the nobles.
He was always alone at these times and his habit had taken over which was the reason why he had forgotten that this time, his child had accompanied him.
This made him come to the decision of keeping his entire attention on her in order to not let her feel as though she was being ignored.
"Take your seat, Baron MacIntyre. According to what my daughter has spoken to me about the matters of yesterday, we have a lot to talk about." The Earl gestured to the couch on which the Baron had been seated when they had entered the room.
Rutherford then gestured the same to the Marquess who chose the seat at the far corner which would give him the perfect view to spectate this episode.
Yvonne rolled her eyes at the man who was here to enjoy the show and did not bother with him as she took her seat next to her father.
The father and child exuded similar auras of authority and respect which was throwing the Baron off his senses.
Yvonne sat with her back straight which almost looked as if she was trying to imitate her father who sat in the same way.
However, this was just how she was when she sat on the CEO's seat back in Platina Entertainment.
Glimpses of her previous personality were peeking through the thick veil of the child's appearance which even she was not aware of by now.
He was here to discuss the deal with the Earl as it was his moment of desperate need but this scene was making him confused more than what he already was.
While he was trying to comprehend this sudden paradox, Marquess Samed was also watching his pupil with his eyes never leaving her for even a single second.
'She behaves like a child in our presence but now she has an aura of superiority around her which I have never seen before.' He commented as he was excited to watch what would happen next.
"I am willing to discuss the terms for the agreement giving my cafe permission to sell Miss St. Claire's recipe." Baron MacIntyre announced, bringing everyone back from their thoughts.
